POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst in Asset Management will be responsible for preparing financial analysis and modeling that will assist the Asset Management team in developing and implementing strategies to maximize the value of each of the assets within its portfolio. In that capacity, the Financial Analyst will interact with the investment, development, property management, leasing and accounting teams as well as Senior Management at JBG SMITH.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provides analytical support to senior members of the Asset Management and other internal teams
- Assumes day to day asset management responsibilities for select projects including general market tracking, obtaining relevant market comps, analyzing leasing and operating economics versus budget/proforma, reviewing property performance in relation to market conditions, evaluating operating expense trends
- Assists in the preparation of more comprehensive annual strategic plans and reporting for individual assets and portfolio (valuation analysis, market analysis, sell/hold/refinance analysis, capital expenditure analysis)
- Provides due diligence/closing support during major capitalization events: financings, recapitalizations, dispositions, acquisitions
- Prepares and coordinate capital calls and loan deliverables such as loan draws, escrow releases, covenants, and manage reporting requirements
- Interact with outside parties including lenders, joint venture partners, retail/commercial tenants, legal counsel, and brokers through professional written communication and timely response to requests
- 1-3 years of financial analysis experience with an exceptional academic record, superior quantitative skills and analytical abilities
- Advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets
- Strong quantitative skills and core financial competency and the ability to create financial models and one-off financial analyses with ease
- Basic knowledge of financing and underwriting methodologies, ARGUS experience a plus
- Conscientious, self-directed and entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with teams

Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead facility survey, assessment, and audit assignments primarily in support of large, high-profile Department of Defense program initiatives
- Directs team members (employees and sub-consultants) at all levels of contract administration
- Consults with clients to develop scope of work and determine project plans and schedules
- Directly supervises numerous employees and at times subcontractors involved in the project
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws
- Mentors and provide leadership to staff and project teams
- Evaluates and integrates engineering systems and implements code, accessibility, and zoning analyses
- Lead field observations to monitor project progress
- Facility planning, auditing, and inspecting large industrial, government and military facilities
- Lead energy studies, audits and rate/metering surveys
- Inspect complete facility systems of large building complexes including mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural features
- Prepare cost estimates and project descriptions
- Write comprehensive facility and condition assessment reports
- Develop and write comprehensive facility audit and facility management plans
- Prepare proposals and estimates for consulting services
- Present proposals to potential clients and negotiates final award fees
- Prepare subcontract statements or work and negotiates fees
- Prepare presentations summarizing final reports or other deliverables and presents them to the client

Education and Experience
- 10 years' experience in Architecture, Planning, Engineering, Facility Asset Management, or Public Works
- Professional Engineer registration or Architect license highly preferred

**The opportunity**
EY's FSO tax practice provides comprehensive and specialized tax assistance tailored to the unique needs of the asset management industry. You would join our tax professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced with varied and specialized facets of hedge fund, private equity fund and mutual fund taxation, including fund and organizational structuring, tax minimization planning, on-call advice, and tax compliance.
**Your key responsibilities**
As a senior in our Wealth & Asset Management practice, you will be responsible for tax compliance and advisory work for clients. You would work with Managers through Partners on key client issues in domestic federal, international and state and local taxation with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives. You will be involved in tax compliance accounts for hedge funds, mutual funds and/or private equity funds.

+ Solid technical knowledge in the asset management tax area
+ Ability to analyze trading reports for tax character and book tax differences, such as wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, and other securities issues.

**To qualify for the role you must have**
+ A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience; or an advanced degree in tax or law and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience

+ A minimum of 2 years of relevant tax experience or equivalent experience in the financial services industry
+ Familiarity with the financial services industry gained through direct involvement with managed investment vehicles

As a manager in our Wealth & Asset Management practice, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating tax compliance and advisory work for clients. You would work on key client issues in domestic federal, international and state and local taxation with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives. You will manage tax compliance accounts for hedge funds and or private equity funds. You will review extensive securities analysis, make appropriate tax adjustments, and provide sign-off for the production and delivery of K-1's and partnership tax returns. You will be responsible for reviewing partnership agreements and private placement memorandums for tax implications of items such as book and tax allocations, stuffing provisions, management and incentive fees as well as run the day to day activities on the accounts that are spread across various locations.
