**POSITION PURPOSE**
Responsible for the overall operations of Medical Services. Organizes and schedules medical activities throughout Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and subsidiaries and supervises the operation of Medical Services in accordance with the federal and state standards and cooperative policies. Manages care for ill or injured employees/dependents/retirees, educates employees, helps perform diagnostic testing and analyzes results. Works closely with the physician and mid-level provider to promote the best medical care for the employees to maintain their health and wellness as well as decreasing cooperative medical cost.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**
+ Lead and mentor clinical and support staff, including nurses and administrative personnel.
+ Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and promote professional development. Ensure medical staff have appropriate certifications and meet continuing education requirements.
+ Supervise the delivery of medical and occupational health services, ensuring timely, safe, and effective care for employees, dependents, and retirees.
+ Oversee clinic operations, including staff scheduling, workflow optimization, and resource allocation for Dakota Gasification (DGC) and Basin Electric facilities.
+ Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA).
+ Implement and monitor clinical protocols, policies, and best practices in collaboration with the physician and mid-level provider.
+ Maintain the medical services budget, including purchasing necessary medical supplies and equipment.
+ Communicate with employees, management, and outside entities on medical issues.
+ Provide patient care as directed by the physician or mid-level provider.
+ Educate employees, perform diagnostic tests, and analyze results.
+ Assist in developing health and wellness programs aimed at improving employee well-being and productivity.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ A bachelor's degree from an approved registered nursing program; and 6 years of nursing experience, which includes 1 year of nursing care in a hospital setting and 1 year of occupational nursing experience; or
+ An associate's degree from an approved registered nursing program; and 8 years of related nursing experience, which includes 1 year of nursing care in a hospital setting and 1 year of occupational nursing experience
+ Have, or able to obtain an unrestricted North Dakota nursing license within a 3-month period of hire.
+ Have, or able to obtain audiometric, spirometry, X-ray, and drug screen collections certifications within a 6-month period of hire.
+ Prior experience acting as a lead or previous supervisory experience.
+ This position will travel approximately 20 percent of the time.
+ A valid driver's license.
**PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS**
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching below and above shoulder level; use of keyboard/computer; and occasional stooping, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds. This position requires good finger dexterity, the ability to perform close work, and good hearing/vision. The incumbent may be frequently exposed to fumes, chemicals, radiology equipment, and noise, and rarely exposed to extreme heat, cold, dirt, dust, and poor ventilation when in field conditions. This position may be exposed to hazardous chemicals. Equipment operated includes medical devices and equipment. The incumbent is required to work extended hours and occasional nights and weekends. This position requires travel, including overnight stays, to other Basin Electric facilities via car or plane (cooperative or commercial). This position must be respirator qualified.

Southwest Virginia Community College seeks an EMS Instructor faculty member. In cooperation with the Program Director and Medical Director, the Instructor will coordinate, teach, and facilitate student learning in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate, manage, and teach EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic in-person learning activities.
- Schedule part-time instructors to ensure adequate coverage for all class and lab sessions for which they are responsible.
- Ensure all grade reporting, lab performance documentation, and formal communication are completed.
- Assist the program and medical director with curriculum development.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure college and program accreditation standards are met.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
**SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*:**

12. *Maintains working knowledge of all current protocols and pathways affecting patients arriving via EMS agencies, including, but not limited to STEMI protocols, Stroke protocols, Trauma Team Activation protocols, Trauma Bypass protocols, and Trauma Triage protocols.
13. *Promotes positive relationships and collaborations with EMS agencies and participates in EMS Outreach activities as appropriate.
14. *Acts as a team player, facilitating efficient operations of the Emergency Department and other departments as appropriate.
15. *Promotes ED throughput whenever possible and within scope of practice. This may include performing some clinical tasks within scope of practice and demonstrated competencies, however, EMS communications always take priority in overall operations.
16. *Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities for Trauma, EMS and the Emergency Departments.
17. *Completes all mandatory education requirements of CJW Medical Center and the Trauma and EMS Services department.
18. * Maintains clinical certification level of EMT or higher at all times.
19. *Acts in accordance with facility privacy policies and adheres to HIPPA regulations.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Minimum 1 year field experience in direct patient care in an accredited EMS agency, Emergency Department, Critical Care setting, or Emergency Dispatch experience.
Preferred: EMT-B or I, Current VA or National Registry EMT, Paramedic, or PCT

**What You'll Do:**
+ Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
+ Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education

**Responsibilities:**
+ Assist hospital staff with de-escalation of situations involving patients; **restrain combative individuals as necessary (within company and customer guidelines)**
+ Transport deceased patients to the morgue, as needed
+ Assist in escorting patients from helicopter pad (high elevation) to the emergency room
+ Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures and following site-specific policies within a healthcare location.
+ Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, assisting staff, patients, and visitors as needed.
+ Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or potential disruptions.
+ Maintain detailed records and logs of patrols, incidents, and observations as required by Allied Universal and site protocols.
+ Support emergency response activities, including guiding individuals during evacuations and assisting first responders when appropriate.
+ Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas to help to deter unauthorized access within the healthcare environment.
+ Communicate professionally with staff, visitors, and/or law enforcement as needed to address concerns or report incidents.

Job Description
The Emergency Medical Services Coordinator is the journey level classification in the Emergency Medical Services series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents plan, coordinate, and implement training, quality assurance, and the trauma monitoring components of the County's EMS systems or programs for the Riverside County Fire Department EMS programs, including the development of standards and protocols, investigations of violations and evaluations regarding the appropriateness of emergency medical services and/or transport. Incumbents also coordinate with public health and medical system stakeholders to develop response plans, implement training, and conduct disaster exercises. The Emergency Medical Services Coordinator is distinguished from the Senior Emergency Medical Services Coordinator in that the latter is the advanced journey level classification that provides technical supervision over subordinate Emergency Medical Services personnel.
Competitive Candidates will possess one or more of the following American Heart Association (AHA) instructor certifications; CLS Instructor (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS Instructor (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support),and/or the BLS Instructor ( Basic Life Support) . •Act for the Senior Emergency Medical Services Coordinator in their absence.
•Implement, conduct, and develop training programs and curriculum for the County Fire Department for emergency medical programs such as First Responder and EMT-1.
•Address and provide staff work for all EMS issues concerning operations and personnel; participate in training plan; participate in Safety Committees; serve as contact person between the Fire Department and Department of Public Health.
•Develop all-hazards emergency response plans, policies, and procedures for public health and medical system stakeholders.
•Conduct training on emergency response plans, policies, and procedures.
•Conduct all-hazards, multi-agency exercises that include the development and distribution of exercise documents (e.g., exercise plan, situation manual, exercise evaluation guides, after action reports, improvement plans). OPTION I
License: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
Experience: Two years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital setting, one year of which must have been in an emergency department or as a Disaster Coordinator.
OPTION II
Certificate: Possession of a valid Paramedic license and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate as defined by the American Heart Association or REMSA approved equivalent.
Experience: Four years as a Paramedic.
ALL OPTIONS
License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License.

The Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Operations is responsible for the operations and functions of the organization. These responsibilities include, but not limited to:
+ Anticipating, forecasting, planning, implementing and monitoring processes.
+ Coordinates and oversees the emergency preparedness process.
+ Oversees and maintains effective risk management initiatives and monitoring a culture of safety within the organization.

+ Meets the financial objectives by creating, monitoring, reporting, and correcting variances in the annual budget process.

Background in emergency preparedness would be beneficial with a good working background and knowledge of the various equipment used in the emergency medical services (EMS). A minimum of five years of leadership/management experience within a high-volume EMS system.
**License/Certification Details**
Hold National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) paramedic certification.
Possess a valid Driver's License and have a good driving record.
Depending on state requirements, individuals may need to have a state license.
