A role in Finance Capabilities means partnering with Finance, technology, Data Science and analytics leaders to co-create solutions that maximize business value and enable key strategies that are critical to the enterprise and for the experiences we create for our guests. As a subject matter expert in tax data processes, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate, scalable, and compliant data solutions. You'll work closely with Tax, Finance, and Technology partners to ensure data processes align with business goals, support audit readiness, and enable high-quality reporting. Your contributions will help ensure the integrity of tax data and the success of enterprise-wide initiatives with finance impact.
As a Senior Tax Technology Analyst, you will play a key role in optimizing tax operations, compliance, and processes through the application of innovative technology solutions. You will collaborate with Tax, Tech, Product, and other cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives. Additionally, you will implement and maintain strategies to enhance tax system configurations, improve data management, and streamline process automation.
In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise, analytical skills, and collaborative mindset to execute on strategic priorities. You will use modern tools and technologies - including workflow automation, data wrangling platforms, data visualization solutions, and AI - to streamline tax operations and enable scalable, accurate reporting.
Core responsibilities include:
- Manage and automate the flow of sales tax data - from sourcing and transformation to final delivery for return preparation - ensuring accuracy, reliability, and end-to-end accountability.
- Support tax audit and compliance inquiries by producing accurate, timely, and audit-ready reporting and analysis.
- Review and validate tax rate and item tax changes within the tax calculation engine.
- Analyze and optimize item classification processes to maintain accurate tax treatment.
- Design and maintain scalable workflows using tools like Alteryx to automate tax data processes.
- Develop dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI and Domo to monitor tax data quality, performance, and trends.
- Collaborate with Tax, Product, and Tech partners on initiatives that improve tax systems and enhance data reliability.
- Identify and test opportunities to use generative AI to accelerate data wrangling, validation, and reporting.
- Test and validate tax system updates and integrations to ensure performance and compliance standards are met.
About you:
- Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in tax technology, tax data operations, or related analytical fields.
- Familiarity with Finance, Accounting, or Tax concepts, especially as they relate to reporting, compliance, and/or audit.
- Experience with Vertex O-Series or similar tax calculation platforms.
- 2+ years of experience using ETL tools (e.g., Alteryx, SSIS, Talend) along with SQL and visualization tools (Power BI, Domo, or equivalent) to transform and present tax data.
- Exposure to Python, generative AI tools, and big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop) preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy, data integrity, and control.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across Tax and Tech teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes

This role will report in-person to our Knoxville, TN office.
The purpose of this position is to support the Sales Tax team from a technology perspective to aid in system implementation, integration and configuration for the preparation, filing, and reconciliation of various state and local sales tax returns.

**Job Description**
**This role will report in-person to our Knoxville, TN office.**
The purpose of this position is to support the Sales Tax team from a technology perspective to aid in system implementation, integration and configuration for the preparation, filing, and reconciliation of various state and local sales tax returns.
**Essential Functions**
1. Prepare monthly tax pre-compliance data manipulation and loading into tax filing software
2. Maintain tax system jurisdictions and jurisdictional rates based on current law
3. Examine and evaluate the purpose and content of tax reports to develop new or improve existing report content and completeness
4. Analyze data for reconciliations to ensure tax liabilities are accurately stated; Reconcile tax accounts, investigate discrepancies, and make recommendations for account resolution; Prepare journal entries as necessary
5. Develop and maintain Alteryx scripts in support of data integrations and transformations necessary to enable the automated preparation of returns and reconciliations
6. Proactively gain knowledge and update tax users with training of new functionality in Vertex/PDI/Alteryx

**Qualifications**
