Responsibilities
The Teaching Assistant will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality educational experiences for children in a preschool or public school setting. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom management, preparing instructional materials, and providing individualized support to students, especially those with special needs. The Teaching Assistant fosters a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, collaborates with teachers and staff, and contributes to the overall development and success of students.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Oversees the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
Works with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects.
Provides the teacher with information about pupils that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
Assists pupils in the use of available instructional resources.
Works closely with teachers, specialists, and other school staff to support student learning and development, sharing insights and strategies to address individual student needs.
Assists in preparing, organizing, and distributing educational materials, such as worksheets, art supplies, and educational games, to support lesson plans.
Helps maintain a positive and organized classroom environment by managing student behavior, implementing classroom rules, and supporting transitions between activities.
Maintains confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.
Follows directions given by the teacher or immediate supervisor.
Builds positive relationships based on respect for others. Maintains effective communication with peers, school district personnel, therapists, and families.
Performs other duties as assigned.
*A Bilingual Teaching Assistant- will assist with providing opportunities for students and parents to access content and information in their home language (including verbal and written translation).
Qualifications
The Teaching Assistant shall be at least 18 years of age.
A high school diploma is required.
At least 1 year experience in child care/development is required.
Must hold a valid Teaching Assistant Certification.
Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish).
Posted Salary Range
USD $16.00 - USD $16.00 /Hr.

Position Overview:
Postdoctoral Research positions are available through the NIH-Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) program ( . This comprehensive program offers 3 years of support to outstanding candidates seeking postdoctoral research training along with an opportunity to obtain mentored teaching experience in a Predominantly Undergraduate Institution in preparation for an academic career.
Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a biological/biomedical field related to Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) conferred by the time of hire or by December 2025. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident as per sponsor's (National Institutes of Health) guidelines.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in a biological/biomedical field related to Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
Duties:
+ Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in a biological/biomedical field. Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data. Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing. Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
+ The Postdoctoral Associate will take part in pedagogic and professional development training provided through the NIH IRACDA NY-CAPS Program
+ Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
