Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the general
supervision and management of the children. The Aide may also be assigned as a one-to-one for a
particular child and assist the child in daily activities within the school setting. This position serves
children from birth to 21 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Assists in the implementation of daily programs and activities under the direction of the teacher.
2. Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and
preparing needed materials and supplies.
3. Attends to the students with physical needs in the classroom including daily and functional living
skills.
4. Encourages students by providing positive feedback about their abilities and performance.
5. Assists teachers with the administration of tests and assignments and monitoring student
progress.
6. Addresses behaviors and coordinates with teachers when appropriate for behavior management.
7. Supervises student activities outside the classroom such as recess, specials, and the restroom,
when needed.
8. Demonstrates an awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements established at the
facility with an emphasis on maintaining a safe environment for all persons working in the facility.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The Teaching Aide shall be at least 18 years of age.
A high school diploma is required.
At least 1 year experience in child care/development is required.
Must hold a valid Teaching Assistant Certification.
Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish).

We are seeking candidates with Race/Ethnic and/or Gender Studies (or related field) expertise who are qualified to teach Research Methods, and Racial Formation courses. Ideal candidates will also have a specialization in Environment/Climate Change and/or Native American and Indigenous Studies to teach courses offered with our Environment or Climate Change focus or in our Indigenous Studies Minor ( with related expertise in Asian American, Black/African American, and/or Women and Gender Studies may be considered. We particularly invite instructors who are engaging with teaching materials that provide original ways of applying a race/ethnic studies framework to current theories and methods, justice phenomena, and activism. The applicant must demonstrate a knowledge base for pedagogies and epistemologies in Race and Ethnic Studies; potential for excellence in service and outreach; and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Qualified applicants will demonstrate the potential to teach upper division courses.
Successful applicants are expected to build upon our departmental strengths using trans/interdisciplinary and engaged scholarship. Evidence of teaching and mentoring undergraduates from underrepresented student populations is highly desired. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a three-four course schedule yearly. The Department of Biology at Emory University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position
We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences with a strong commitment to pedagogy and a specific interest in teaching and advising undergraduates. Applicants having prior experience with evidence-based teaching practices are encouraged to apply; postdoctoral experience is preferred.
Faculty appointments will be made at the Assistant Teaching Professor level. Established over 25 years ago, the teaching track in Emory College is one of the strongest and longest-running in the country.
Successful candidates will demonstrate experience and ability to teach biochemistry and cell biology, as well as second-semester introductory biology labs. The latter involves working with and training a team of Lab Instructors and collaborating with the first-semester lab coordinator as well as the support of two full-time staff for material preparation. In addition to teaching, commonly four courses per year, successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the academic life and governance of the Department, College of Arts and Sciences, and the University.
The appointee will join a cohesive group of tenure-track (25) and teaching-track (14) faculty working collaboratively in the teaching, research, and service missions of Emory University. - Record information on the initial evaluation, treatment, and progress in a timely manner using Electronic Medical Record system.
- Proficient at writing detailed analysis and reports.
- Effectively organize and maintain confidentially of child’s records and other documentations.
- Follow all state laws and regulations as it pertains to Early Intervention, CPSE/CSE special education.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
- Current New York State Licensure and/or Certifications.
- Early Childhood Education (B-2) Certification preferred.
- Students with disabilities (B-2) Certification preferred.
- Tier III Teachers Assistant Certification
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Word and comfortable with working with computer systems
- Valid Driver’s License
