Our client is looking for a seasoned and results-oriented Lead Solar Project Developer to spearhead renewable energy initiatives in a fully remote capacity. This role is critical in identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar project opportunities. The successful candidate will manage the entire project lifecycle, from initial site assessment and feasibility studies to securing permits, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and financing. You will leverage your extensive network within the solar industry and your deep understanding of project finance, engineering principles, and regulatory landscapes to drive success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and assess potential sites for solar power development, including preliminary energy production and cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with landowners, community stakeholders, and local authorities.
• Negotiate and secure land leases, easements, and other necessary agreements.
• Lead the PPA negotiation process to secure favorable terms for projects.
• Manage the interconnection application process with utilities.
• Oversee the preparation of project plans, technical specifications, and financial models.
• Collaborate effectively with internal engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams and external partners in a remote environment.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements.
• Track project progress, manage budgets, and mitigate risks throughout the development cycle.
• Present project proposals and updates to internal leadership and external investors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in solar project development or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated success in originating, developing, and financing solar projects.
• In-depth knowledge of solar technology, project economics, PPA structures, and interconnection processes.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with GIS tools, energy modeling software, and financial analysis techniques.
• Experience in navigating complex permitting and regulatory environments.
• A strong track record of closing deals and bringing projects to fruition.
