Job Description
Hands-on leadership in a mission-driven organization
Technology should empower people
At Qualstar Credit Union, we believe in making financial lives easier-and we know that great technology is at the heart of that. As our IT Manager, you'll play a vital role in delivering reliable, secure, and forward-thinking systems that help our employees do their best work and our members stay connected 24/7.
You'll lead a close-knit, skilled team and take ownership of daily IT operations, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and project execution. This isn't a "behind the curtain" role. It's a hands-on leadership opportunity in a purpose-driven workplace where service, integrity, and growth aren't just buzzwords-they're core values we live every day.
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll report to the VP of IT and manage a team of up to four direct reports spanning Helpdesk, Systems Administration, and Communications Infrastructure. You'll blend technical expertise with people leadership to ensure that our technology environment is secure, efficient, and responsive.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems as much as coaching people-someone who can guide their team while staying actively involved in the work. Our systems support 130 employees and over 70,000 members who rely on us 24/7, and we're constantly looking for ways to improve security and efficiency. You'll help shape and drive the technology strategies that make that possible.
Who We're Looking For
You're an experienced IT leader with a strong technical foundation. You've spent several years managing systems and people in an on-premise environment-ideally within a regulated industry like finance or healthcare. You understand the importance of compliance, security, and uptime, but you're also excited by innovation and finding ways to do things better.
You lead with clarity and respect, setting expectations and giving feedback in a way that motivates. You're confident making decisions, managing projects, and partnering across departments to align IT solutions with business needs.
You'll bring:
- 3–5+ years managing IT operations in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on experience with Citrix, VMware, networking , and security protocols
- A service-first mindset with a clear sense of accountability and purpose
- The ability to both lead and learn-because continuous improvement is part of how we work
- A degree in information systems or a related field is helpful, but not required if you bring equivalent experience
Why Qualstar?
We're not your average financial institution. We're proud to be financially strong, membership focused, and deeply connected to the people we serve. Our members rely on us, and our employees stay with us-because they know their work matters.
As our IT Manager, you'll join a team where your input is valued, your leadership makes a real impact, and your growth is supported.
Here's what else you'll find:
A people-first culture
Our IT team ranks in the top 5% globally for employee satisfaction-with a 95% score across multiple dimensions of engagement. We take pride in creating an environment where people feel empowered and connected.
Mission with meaning
You'll work at an organization that's driven by purpose, not profit. We're here for our members, and every decision we make puts their needs first. Your work behind the scenes helps bring that mission to life every day.
Benefits that support you
We offer medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, along with paid vacation, sick time, 11 holidays, and wellness perks. We contribute to your 401(k) whether you do or not, and we offer annual bonus pay tied to performance and organizational success.
A workplace that works for you
Free parking, loan discounts, game room access, quiet workspaces, light workout equipment, and nearby trails help make the day-to-day more enjoyable.
Let's Talk
If you're ready to bring your technical skills and leadership mindset to a team that values service, growth, and purpose-we'd love to connect. Submit your application today, and let's start the conversation.
