• Leads the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy, and technical debt and recommends improvement solutions. In addition, leads the analysis of the technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise.

• Collaborates with technical, business, and subject matter experts to develop technology solutions that enable and drive new business capabilities and operating models.

• Drives technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing core technology base and IT estate.

• Defines high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the future and current state, typically in sync with the IT budgeting or other capital planning processes.

Analyzes & Evaluates Technology (30%)

• Understands and follows established roadmaps, technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.

• Guides technology investment decisions based on analysis and evaluation to drive targeted business outcomes while meeting nonfunctional requirements.

• Helps the EA department define metrics to measure and demonstrate technology value.

• Assists with designing the governance, assurance, and standards activities to ensure enterprise technology compliance with projects and products.

• Oversees and facilitates the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards and the design of standard configurations.

• Understands, advocates, and augments the business and IT strategies and their outcome and ongoing results, and leads the communication or marketing activities needed to ensure enterprise success and use

Technical Lead, Collaborates and Deliver Business Outcomes (40%)

• Lead technology change to deliver business outcomes while also virtually leveraging subject matter experts from any other needed technical area.

• Oversees or consults on technology implementation and modification activities (for example, projects and products), particularly for new or shared infrastructure solutions.

• Consult on application or infrastructure development projects to harmonize systems or infrastructure with the enterprise technology architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify the technology architecture to accommodate immediate or future project needs.

• Creates and delivers working, production-ready IT services that agile teams can easily leverage.

• Works closely with project managers, owners, and engineers (e.g., enterprise, business, information, security, and architects) to enable infrastructure agility, scalability, and resilience to support required product needs throughout project life cycles.

• Collaborates with business constituents, architects, project teams, and staff in various functional IT areas to fulfill the responsibilities mentioned above.

• Documents necessary for enterprise technology architecture design and analysis work, including project postmortem documentation and metric collection.

• Provide L4 production infrastructure support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, system analysis, related study, or equivalent experience.

• A minimum of five years of design and implementation experience in IT, with deep knowledge in the following (or similar) technical disciplines: infrastructure and network design, and security.

• Good understanding of project management, agile principles, and development methodologies; and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact, and risks, considering technical and architectural debt.

• Experience delivering presentations to senior -level executives and technical audiences.

• Exposure to diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.

• Skilled at collaborating with SMEs and business owners, following the guidelines, and facilitating decision-making with stakeholders and peers.

SKILLS

• Knowledge in one or more core network specializations, including but not limited to interior and exterior gateway protocols, virtualized routing, multicast, VPN, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, and security system services

• Proficiency learning and researching modern technologies and methods, developing, and testing solutions, and transitioning solutions to production environments

• Understanding of various backend development languages, databases cloud-based SaaS and PaaS.

• Understanding of various aspects of a technology architecture like cloud, integration, network, and security

• Knowledge of components of an enterprise technology architecture

• Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

  • Education & Experience :

Typically, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field and 12 years experience.  Master's Degree and 10 years experience, PhD and 7 years experience

Experience in the networking field. 

  • Required Clearance:

Must hold at least an Interim Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance

Target Salary Range $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure across our hospital networks. Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure across multiple hospital locations to ensure high availability and performance.

  • Manage and optimize VPN connections hosted in Microsoft Azure for secure remote access and inter-site connectivity.

  • Assist in the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, policy enforcement, and security.

  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations

  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network solutions, including Cisco ISE, with existing systems and applications

  • Implement security best practices to protect network infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities, leveraging Cisco ISE for enhanced access control

  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures, including Cisco ISE policies, for operational continuity

Additional Job Description:

This role will require an initial on-site (Oconomowoc, WI) commitment of approximately 3-6 months (depending on integration progress). After that, the position will transition to a rotating hybrid schedule shared with other members of the network team.Education/Training Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field and/or equivalent work experience required

  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on LAN/WAN management required

  • Strong knowledge of VPN technologies and experience managing VPNs in Microsoft Azure required

  • Proficiency in network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and network security practices required

  • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment, tools, and Cisco ISE for identity-based network access control required

  • Experience with Cisco DNA Center for network management and automation preferred

  • Proficiency in Cisco vManage for SD-WAN configuration and monitoring preferred
