The Laboratory Assistant performs all specimen collection by phlebotomy from the correct individual at in-house or off-site locations. In addition, obtains other specimens when indicated, and instructs patients in the collection of specimens as necessary. - Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities.
- Ensures standards are met (quality, timeliness, customer service, etc.).

Our mission is to unravel the complexities of blood-brain barrier (BBB) regulation across the spectrum of development, normal physiology, and disease states. As a dynamic and innovative new research group, we leverage an array of sophisticated methodologies, such as functional tracer leakage assays, live confocal microscopy of the entire brain, novel molecular and genetic tool development, electron microscopy, and targeted small-molecule screens. We are currently spearheading several exciting projects:
- Investigating the crucial functions of astrocytes in sustaining BBB integrity during health and in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.
- Examining the influence of neural crest lineage on BBB characteristics and questioning whether cellular origins dictate their roles in BBB function.
- Searching for groundbreaking small molecules with the potential to modulate BBB permeability.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Assists with experiments by performing molecular biology, microinjections, microscopy imaging, in sity hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and data analysis.
- Maintains fish colony by crossing and genotyping transgenic and mutant lines.

Under direct supervision of the Anesthesiologist and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), sets up, troubleshoots, and provides general maintenance on all anesthesia equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ On a daily basis and in accordance with department standards, maintains and services all electronic and mechanical equipment used by Anesthesia Department personnel.
+ Sets-up transducers, calibrate sand zeros monitors.
+ Assembles pediatric and adult ventilator circuits.
+ Prepares procedural equipment such as the CVP, arterial line, Swan-Ganz, and routine intravenous lines.
+ Operates, calibrates, and performs routine maintenance on a variety of technical equipment used in the operating room, such as the Drager and/or Narkomed anesthesia machines, HP Monitors, pulse oximeter and rapid infusion/transfusion systems.
+ Identifies malfunctioning equipment, troubleshoots equipment problems, and refers more serious equipment problems to appropriate technical repair personnel when there are no established guidelines.
+ Assists in the establishment and maintenance of a regular schedule of preventive maintenance and calibration of monitors utilized in the administration of anesthesia, including the BP physiological monitors, Datascope, Propac monitor, and Nellcor pulse oximeters.
+ Assists in positioning and supporting patients for regional anesthesia procedures such as spinal and epidurals.
+ Supports the Anesthesia Provider during insertion of arterial catheter lines and internal jugular catheters.
+ Applies monitoring devices to the patient and operates all common physiological monitors (Datex, pulse oximeter, C02 monitor, BP monitors cuffs).
+ Removes and disposes of all relevant supplies and equipment following use, exchanging soiled for clean parts between cases and restocking room carts with supplies and drugs.
+ Assists in monitoring and ordering supplies for the department.
+ Maintains an inventory in the main anesthesia workroom.
+ Orders from the pharmacy and stocks all non scheduled drugs.
+ May order and stock non-scheduled drugs.
+ Cleans and decontaminates equipment per Sterile Processing Department protocols.
+ This includes the disassembly of equipment and sterilization in accordance to the Center for Disease Control guidelines, to prevent the spread of infectious and contagious diseases.

**The Job You Will Perform:**
The Pulp Mill Technical Assistant will be an assistant to the Pulp Mill Area Manager. This position will act as a resource for all facets of day-to-day operations in the Pulp Mill, while designing systems to build long-term stability and reliability. The Pulp Mill Technical Assistant will be heavily involved in a broad spectrum of areas such as Operations, Maintenance, Technical and People. They must help manage the safety, environmental, people, operations and reliability performance of the Pulp Mill. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
+ All safety and environmental results for the Pulp Mill.
+ Building, communicating and executing consistent operating practices across all shifts.

**Summary** :
Under the supervision of the radiologic technologist, this position is responsible for assisting the technologists, residents, and radiology attendings in exam rooms, and with guided interventional procedures. This position also calls patients from the waiting room into the changing area as well as prepares/explains the procedure to the patient according to departmental and hospital procedure. The technical assistant performs a variety of patient care and clerical duties, while aiding patients, technologists, and radiologists. The technical assistant demonstrates excellent communication skills and effectively works with all staff.
**Job Responsibilities** :
**1** ) Managing the Patient Experience:
Greets patients promptly in warm, friendly manner demonstrating appropriate amount of interest or concern. Smile, make eye contact, use welcoming language (hello, welcome, how can I help you today). Gather and/or verify patient demographics as needed.
Hospitality:
Maintain a clean patient and working space. Direct patient and family members to restrooms and other amenities. Check to see if there is any other way you can assist. Employees at this level are developing their skills and understanding of needs of the patients and their families or caregivers.
**2** ) Practices the BH operating principles of Trust, Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Communication.
**3** ) Maintains patient confidentiality consistent with hospital policy.
**4** ) Knowledge of lifting mechanics and proper moving techniques. Is responsible for assisting in the transfer of patients on and off stretchers, beds, wheelchairs, and other as needed.
**5** ) Technical assistant will keep patients informed of wait times, assisting and accompanying patients where possible, and as appropriate.
**6** ) Performs terminal cleaning, and surface cleaning in accordance with the hospitals infection control practices and policies.
**7** ) Observes all health and safety requirements including body substance precautions.
**8** ) Assist patients as needed to bathroom or with urinal or bedpan.
**9** ) Participates in department and team projects as requested and communicates effectively with team and patients.
**10** ) Is skilled in handling transport, lifting, sliding, oxygen tanks, and IV poles as needed.
**11** ) Is skilled in the use of all necessary computer software such as, but not limited to, Teletracking, Safety and Injury Reporting (SRS), Cerner, Radnet, Synapse, etc.
**12** ) Assists with supplies and inventory. Properly puts stock away, as well as fills and empties laundry bins as needed.
**13)** Maintains yearly In service validations. Attends departmental staff meetings.
**14) BLS certification from AHA is required within 30 days of hire.**
**Minimum Requirements** :
**1** ) High school or equivalent
**Preferred Work Experience** :
**1)** Medical Terminology and previous patient care.
**Skills and Competencies** :
**1** ) Excellent verbal communication and computer skills.
**2** ) Exceptional customer service skills.
**3** ) Knowledge of lifting mechanics.
**Education:**
GED or HiSET (Required)
