Technical Designer
We are seeking a well-rounded individual with a strong focus on precision and expertise to join our team as a Technical Designer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our product designs. We are looking for a tech designer for predominantly mens and some womens garments who has experience in denim, jersey knits and/or outerwear. Your meticulous attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively will be essential in shaping our product development process.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivering technical packages with complete and detailed CAD sketches, construction details and key measurements using Adobe Illustrator.
- Work closely with design and product development teams to ensure great fitting quality product reflective of the design intent.
- Participate in, and as needed, schedule and lead, live fit sessions:.
- Address construction and fit issues for each garment.
- Articulate fit issues and recommend solutions to improve product construction to cross-functional teams.
- Record comments and facilitate communication with Development and Production teams and external partners.
- Specify garment details, and maintain comprehensive notes to guarantee the final fit, quality, and construction adhere to established standards. Assist in vendor communication for Full Package development and standards.
- Input grade rules, pattern card, approved specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM) prior to releasing for marking and grading.
- Monitor and manage execution to the time-and-action calendar, maintaining detailed records of all stages.
- Track fit and pre-production (PP) samples, or other reference samples as necessary
- Monitor and maintain pattern and block library.
- Act as the point of contact for domestic and import vendors and answer questions regarding fit, specs, pattern, trims and construction.
- Collaborate with other Technical Designer(s) to achieve goals and meet deadlines.

Job Summary
The Technical Designer is responsible for managing technical and production design aspects of signage projects from concept through fabrication. This includes support for ADA signage, Sign Agent projects, and other specialized or custom signs requiring precision and construction detail. The ideal candidate will have experience in sign manufacturing, construction, or architectural environments and a strong understanding of materials, production methods, and technical design. This is not a purely graphic design role. While creative input is welcomed, the focus is on technical execution and production feasibility.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Shop Drawing Development, focusing on fabrication-ready design
- Familiarize with and interpret scope of work documents, including architectural plans, elevations, and sign location plans to ensure design accuracy and code compliance
- Apply knowledge of sign fabrication processes to specify appropriate materials, substrates, and construction methods for each signage application
- Collaborate with the sales team and clients to develop technically accurate designs for incoming projects
- Emphasis on complex, custom, and detail-oriented signage (e.g., ADA packages, fabricated & illuminated signs)
- Lead coordination and execution of Sign Agent and ADA signage workflows
- Coordinate with outsourced vendors, gather quote information, and submit orders
- Perform site surveys and field measurements as needed
- Handle phone and email inquiries regarding job status, quotes, and project updates
- Follow ordering and PO procedures with accuracy
- Communicate install schedule internally and with clients
- Maintain consistent communication with team, in-office and on-site
- Maintain and update Job Center and track project time by branch/project
- Contribute to stretch assignments (e.g., ADA estimating/pricing, custom orders, process improvements)
- Serve as a liaison for technical projects, focusing on organization, documentation, and client needs
- Actively contribute to a positive team culture in coordination with the Production Manager & Operations Director
- Additional tasks as assigned

- Work with design and production teams to achieve desired costing and hit stated price point and margin goals while achieving design goals.

What is my role?
This role supports the Kids Technical Design team in daily development and production tasks, with guidance from the Senior Technical Designer.
What You'll Do
Log in daily sample receipts and maintain the sample log for the teamPrepare samples for fittings by measuring fit and pre-production samples for accuracy against specs and photographing them on the form for each Technical Designer and private label customers.
- Support low-touch accounts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to release tech packs for production POs
- Document fit comments and construction notes for reorder body approvals, referencing previous season samples against new submissions, with guidance from the Senior Technical Designer
- Assist in creating initial tech packs for new development styles, using block bodies as a starting point and following team direction

As a Designer, you will apply and integrate technical detailing and material technologies to develop design solutions into a concise set of construction documents. Using your ability to analyze and understand design intent you will produce efficient and effective technical design solutions. You will work with members of the design team to develop design solutions appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of architectural projects. You will use your knowledge of detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies to collaborate with other professional disciplines and have opportunities to coordinate the design through all phases of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develops technical designs and edits architectural drawings to ensure an exemplary solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines, and budgetary requirements.
- Performs design activities such as programming, code research, material and building systems research, laying out program components, and calculation of program and building areas
- Evaluates site conditions and performs site surveys
- Reviews project products, services, and shop drawings
- Processes permit response letters and coordinates revisions with engineers and consultants to obtain necessary documentation and permits
- Coordinates with contractor, sub-consultants, or relevant building authorities to address and document issues with constructability or owner concerns
- Frequent travel for site surveys, existing condition assessment reports, and 3D scanning
- Experience in all phases of the project cycle is required
- Architectural design software skills including Revit, AutoCAD and other architectural design software
- Familiarity with MEP and Structural building systems and building codes is required
- Have successfully completed related post-secondary education
- Familiarity with site surveys, existing condition assessment reports, and 3D building scanning
- Registered with a relevant professional architectural association is an asset
- 4 -8 years of project work experience
- Experience in Retail projects is an asset

Here, you will partner with interface artists by using redlines and mock-ups to develop and implement flexible interface systems. Qualifications:
