We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to conduct site surveys of local buildings, collect and confirm room locations and spatial data, and ensure compliance with SI CAD Standards. The role involves reviewing, verifying, and editing drawings and spatial data based on feedback from Smithsonian staff, developing new drawings for incomplete facilities, and providing printed reports as needed. The CAD Technician is responsible for using AutoCAD software to provide support to engineers/surveyors by performing a variety of design/drafting activities, including routine layouts, detail drawings, sketches and diagrams.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce drawings using computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software
- Analyze sketches, drawings, notes, and/or verbal information supplied by an engineer, surveyor, technician, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments

Primary Function:
Perform drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium/high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employee's understanding of drafting techniques, corporate/client standards, and procedures.
