We are a full-service distributor of Generac equipment and solutions providing sales, service and rentals.
The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, equipment modifications, of Generac industrial products. This position will requires 100% travel; fleet vehicle provided. No overnight travel is anticipated. Overtime is not promised or required, but during mass storms and outages management may require additional help for after-hours calls beyond the standing on-call schedule
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and control systems
+ Understand components and operation of an electrical distribution and transfer switch system
+ Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision, in occasionally adverse outdoor weather conditions.

Working under the direction of the CTS Project Manager/Workflow Lead while collaborating close with Operations Lead, the Technical Field Specialist will provide direct technical support in t development, preparation, operation, and post-processing of in-field data collection experiment and pilots. The CTS Technical Field Specialist will serve as the in-field coordinator of such programs, bo collecting data hands-on and guiding the work of less technical CTS field operators to ensure the operation is running efficiently and according to requirements communicated by the CTS Field Operations Manager and Operations Lead and by the Client Program Managers and Engineers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support pioneering work being done at a to technology company.

**Preparation work will include:**
+ Working with the CTS Project Manager/Workflow Lead and Operations Lead on the intake, documentation, staffing, and scheduling of new Client pilot requests:
o Writing up pilot project charters
o Documenting and validating operational workflows
o Conducting in-field operator training
+ Reviewing device configuration requirements (e.g., OS versions, user accounts, settings, installed apps, connectivity, etc.), engaging with and asking clarifying questions of the CTS staff
+ Ensuring that devices are configured to run properly based on the requirements and that data can be collected and successfully passed to backend systems.
+ Working with the CTS staff (Operations Lead, Tools POC, QC, and MIS) and Client Engineers to test, troubleshoot, and resolve device and backend data/technical setup issues before pilots begin
+ Triaging and performing initial debugging, as well as resolving issues directly whenever possible
+ Driving resolution of issues by opening and tracking bugs assigned to other CTS or client staff
+ Obtaining required devices from inventory and configuring those devices for CTS field operators.
**In-Field work will include:**
+ Conducting trial runs to assure that devices and connections to backend systems are working properly, partnering with CTS staff (Operations Lead, Tools POC, QC, and MIS) to debug and resolve any issues encountered, as well as engaging Client Program Managers and Engineers when necessary
+ Conducting and leading in-field data collection.
+ Providing frequent status updates.
+ Addressing any technical issues that occur in the field, including extracting device
+ diagnostic logs, opening bugs and escalating to other CTS and Client Staff as required.
+ Triaging and performing initial debugging, as well as resolving issues directly whenever possible

Post-Operations work will include:

**Requirements:**
+ BA/BS degree, or min. 2-3 years of relevant testing / support experience is required.
+ Must have 1+ years of QA testing or technical support experience of Mobile Apps
+ Familiarity with Mobile & web technologies + organizational tools like Google Spreadsheets /Excel (SQL, Javascript, etc skills a plus)
+ Ability to work on feet for several hours and in indoor/outdoor environments during all types of weather

**Salary and Other Compensation:**

Technical Field Advisor, (TFA), is a working field service consultant responsible for maintaining quality standards of Siemens Energy field service work, self-performing warranty repairs, environment, safety, and the overall performance of crew / contractors on field projects. The TFA is the primary on site guide in assembly, service, and repair of transformers and other work at an electrical substation or power plant. The TFA is responsible for the successful execution of projects, both technically and administratively. The TFA is encouraged to take crucial and/or corrective action for the well-being of the onsite personnel, environment, project, equipment, customer and/or the organization.
**How You'll Make an Impact**
+ Direct Siemens Energy crews, vendors/sub-contractors assigned to projects to perform duties in accordance with local, customer, industry and corporate laws, regulations and/or standards
+ Ensure projects are timely, within budget performance of projects. Responsible for acquiring budget parameters of assigned projects, including scope of work, hours/days budgeted, expenses, and anticipated vendor/subcontractor delivery requirements, coordination of heavy equipment, tankers, test equipment, ensuring vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials are in safe, operating order and performing maintenance service, inventory, and corrective repairs with their crew
+ Maintain effective communication with site contact for coordination and project management, including daily updates, written and/or verbal, with NRM, including project changes, safety reviews, safety incidents, work scope changes, etc.
+ The TFA ensures the reassembly, vacuum, oil fill, & testing is completed per the factory's recommendations and deviations were not taken that could jeopardize the warranty
+ The TFA provides technical support and accurate installation sequence of accessories, communication between the field and factory for progress and issues. On behalf of the factory the TFA retains ownership and responsibility of the equipment until customer has signed the documentation accepting the final product
**What You Bring**
+ Must possess 8+ years of combined field service technical assembly, maintenance and repair of power and distribution transformers/transformer accessories in the utility/energy electrical industry. Expertise in Distribution, Power, and Transmission electrical substation equipment across Low, Medium, and High Voltage ranges preferred.
+ Bachelor's degree, High School diploma, GED or technical vocational or apprenticeship training, combined with prior transformer field service or related experience.
+ High level field supervisory skills to direct crew members and subcontractors as assigned.
+ Perform and direct personnel in operating transformer oil processor safely and accurately.
+ Must have strong commercial and industrial electrical wiring and strong transformer electrical testing and fixing skills.
+ Willing and able to travel domestic and international up to 80%.

+ Ensuring that devices are configured to run properly based on the requirements and that data can be collected and successfully passed to backend systems.

+ Obtaining required devices from inventory and configuring those devices for CTS field operators.
**In-Field work will include:**
+ Conducting trial runs to assure that devices and connections to backend systems are working properly, partnering with CTS staff (Operations Lead, Tools POC, QC, and MIS) to debug and resolve any issues encountered, as well as engaging Client Program Managers and Engineers when necessary
+ Conducting and leading in-field data collection.
+ Providing frequent status updates.
+ Addressing any technical issues that occur in the field, including extracting device
+ diagnostic logs, opening bugs and escalating to other CTS and Client Staff as required.

+ Following up with the CTS staff (Operations Lead, Tools POC, QC, and MIS) and Client Engineers to drive the resolution of open bugs
+ Participating in data analysis and extraction as required.
+ Proactively identifying areas for program and workflow improvement.
**Requirements:**
+ BA/BS degree, or min. 2-3 years of relevant testing / support experience is required.
+ Must have 1+ years of QA testing or technical support experience of Mobile Apps
+ Familiarity with Mobile & web technologies + organizational tools like Google Spreadsheets /Excel (SQL, Javascript, etc skills a plus)
+ Ability to work on feet for several hours and in indoor/outdoor environments during all types of weather
+ Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to communicate cross functionally with local and global teams/stakeholders
+ Strong teamwork skills

+ Driver's license and ability to drive and use other forms of transportation to conduct pilots at various local venues including Client offices, stand alone stores, and shopping malls.

**Salary and Other Compensation:**
The hourly rate for this position is $25 - $28 per hour, dependent on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.

Under general direction, acts as the on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers. Performs or delegates tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout. Responsible for the overall financial results of assigned projects including costs, project billings, and collections. Maintains an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results. Actively pursues selling change orders. Coordinates communication with the customer during all phases of the project. Ensures proper execution of warranty. Provides work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. Adheres and ensures Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.
How will you do it
- Completes typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards as required. Provides detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors.
- Actively pursues additional work through change orders. Evaluates the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives and/or scheduling changes. Communicates both technical and business-related issues with the clients.
- Manages the selection, ordering, budget and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned.
- Secures pricing and availability from outside vendors and suppliers, mechanical and electrical subcontractors including scope, terms and conditions. May request several bids in pricing process. Oversees subcontractor payment and billing processes.
- Provides jobsite coordination for panel and field device physical locations. Ensures installation is in accordance with Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
- Manages and completes the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validates complete system functionality and resolves issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provides accurate project as built and commissioning documentation.
- Manages costs, billings and collections. Completes project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client. Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow. Schedules monthly project cost in cost accounting system. Responsible for project cost hitting projects as scheduled.
- Provides coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers and System Designers. Provides technical assistance to subcontractors. Ensures that delegated tasks are done accurately, on time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract.
- Effectively communicates the status of projects to management as required and provides monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
- Sends warranty letter to JCI customer upon substantial completion of project and ensures proper execution of warranty.
- Develops project plans and coordinates the required resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
- Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensures owner/operator has been trained. Provides proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
- Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required.
- Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
Required
- Minimum of a technical Associates Degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent related field experience in the HVAC industry.
- Must have relevant technical hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
- Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform work independently.
- Strong personal computer skills.
- Must have knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of project accounting, costing principals and contracting preferred.
