What You Will Be Doing:As a Field Service Truck Technician you will perform truck repairs at customer facilities.
Primary Responsibilities:- Works in a neat and orderly manner, maintaining a safe work environment and a constant focus on completing the task at hand safely.
- Proficiently and accurately perform maintenance, diagnose and repairs
- Apply specific failure analysis techniques and procedures in determining root cause of failures and relaying that information to customers and office personnel
- Cares for and maintains customer machines/equipment to the highest standards and ensures co-workers are doing the same
- Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
- Write full reports on findings from field service events, with clear, concise information
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers on the status of their maintenance and/or repairs.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required depending on customer needs & fluctuating workloads, also need to be available for after-hours calls as needed.
- Must be able to obtain a CDL license if required
- Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
- Additional duties as assigned by manager.
To be successful in this position you should have prior experience diagnosing and repairing school buses and Cummins engines, the knowledge of tools applicable to the position and the desire to learn. You should possess a strong sense of urgency and desire to provide superior customer service. The ability to take direction and work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.
Education/Experience:- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be 21-years-old or older.
- Valid, active driver's license.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to clear driver screenings and provide necessary information for a complete DQ file, including but not limited to:
- Road Test administered by Yancey personnel.
- Background check and MVR with less than 10 points.
- DOT Physical
- Drug Screen
- Must not be disqualified to drive a CMV under 49 CFR § 391.15.
- Technical Knowledge of School Bus systems
- Strong Diesel Engine Knowledge (preferably Cummins Medium Duty)
- Strong technical/mechanical ability
- Able to work with very little supervision
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
- High level of responsiveness, and a strong proactive attitude to problem solving
- Committed to Quality and a high level attention to detail
- Ability and motivation to learn quickly.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Technical Degree or Certification a plus.
- CDL is a plus, but not required.

What You Will Be Doing:As a Heavy Equipment Field Service Diesel Technician, you will be diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing standard mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on customer's equipment in the field. Technicians furnish their own tools, are able to operate industry associated heavy equipment, and complete all assigned work in an accurate and timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities:- Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and locate mechanical deficiencies on heavy equipment diesel engines and components. Source and order parts as needed.
- Determine extent of necessary repairs including identifying major powertrain overhaul needs and prepare orders for required services.
- Proper use of diagnostic equipment.
- Repair and/or replace all components of diesel engines hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, suspension systems, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems.
- Perform welding and brazing, fabricate and modify parts, equipment, miscellaneous structures and attachments.
- Complete all work orders (including warranty information) and time sheets in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.
- Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
- Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.
- Maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Must keep truck and equipment clean and presenting the best impression possible to the public.
- Photograph equipment when necessary.
- Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
- Additional duties as assigned by manager.

Education/Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of industry experience.
- Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems, arc and oxygen acetylene welding, test equipment used to diagnose and repair equipment and electronic components of vehicles.
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely to diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctions; follow oral and written instructions; read and understand operators and repair manuals; work cooperatively with others; work with minimal supervision and keep required records.
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret technical information- schematics, technical manuals, technical drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
- Skilled in ‘Basic’ computer applications including email and internet usage.
- The ability to communicate through email- sending & receiving notes, attachments.
- Ability to read, analyzes, and communicate technical information.
- Ability to write service reports that effectively communicate required information in an understandable (clear and concise) and useable method.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers. Keep customers up-to-date using MODERN as the main method of communication.
- Must be 21-years-old or older.
