ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Plant Engineering Manager /Technical Manager you will be responsible for managing the engineering team and overseeing the technical operations in the Constantine facility.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Manages plant quality systems, specifications, product development, and documentation.
  • li>Champions a safe and healthy workplace, particularly in Hazard Communication.
  • Liaises with all chemical suppliers for the safe and efficient use of process and product chemistry.

  • Investigates solutions for equipment upgrades and identifies improvement synergies.
  • Supports plant environmental compliance by overseeing preparation of all required reports and data submissions.
  • Provides leadership for continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated project management experience by having successfully managed and completed a large, complex engineering project
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products.
  • Understanding of reliability tools and strategies including direct experience facilitating.
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles specifically as it relates to maintenance planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management, and leadership guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult situations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience in a recycled paperboard mill.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in manufacturing best practices.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other Operational Excellence system experience is a plus.

**Responsibilities**
**Summary:**
The Technical Manager position is responsible for all aspects of Maintenance, Engineering, Printing, Production, and Facilities at STC. The Technical Manager will typically be responsible for a Maintenance employee.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
· Provide leadership for Engineering, Maintenance and Quality with the ultimate objective of maximizing production volume while achieving cost targets.
· Manages the capital budget and develops technical talent in the group.
· Assures plant facilities and production equipment are properly maintained.
· Manages the plant Capital Budget and Engineering expense budget.
· Works with plant technical and operations resources to identify capital deployment opportunities.
· Responsible for CAR submission and coordination of capital activities.
· Responsible for hiring, salary administration, performance management including disciplinary actions, employee development and salary administration.
· Provides engineering support and resources to sustain plant production. Coordinates communication and implementation of manufacturing and technical initiatives.
· Manages AOP budget, which includes technical group salaries, building and grounds, maintenance materials and utilities.
· Responsibility for meeting site environmental compliance and providing support to plant safety programs.
**Qualifications**
**Preferred Skills:**
· BA/BS degree preferred in Industrial Management, Engineering or Business.
· 5 years of manufacturing experience including 3 years of supervisory experience preferably in a highly respected paper or consumer packaging manufacturing organization.
· Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of statistical methods and process improvement techniques. Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and negotiation skills required.
· Must demonstrate proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite.

This includes estimating and fund procurement, specifying equipment and processes, vendor and contractor selection, project management, and installation. + Collaborate with scheduling and production to coordinate preventative, corrective work as well as safety inspections. Also collaborate with process engineering on CQV of new equipment as well as the coordination of significant process changes. + Collaborate with Manufacturing Leadership to develop strategic and tactical plans that meet the safety, quality, and production targets, improve reliability and efficiency of production, and reduce cost to meet business needs. + Lead root cause analysis and countermeasure development for top OEE issues identified by the business. + Coordinate plant participation in the New Product Introduction Process. **WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR** + Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university + Minimum 10 years of experience in plant management, engineering management, quality management and/or continuous improvement roles + Demonstrated success implementing TPM frameworks and achieving measurable improvements in OEE and maintenance KPIs. + Working knowledge of RCM, FMEA, CMMS, and condition-based monitoring technologies (vibration, thermography, oil analysis). + Extensive project management experience in the processing industries + Exceptional organizational, time-management and planning skills + Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key stakeholder groups including executives + Able to make data-driven decisions quickly and effectively, balanced with discretion and good judgment + Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
