Job Description
Realm builds AI for the mining industry. We integrate with existing mine infrastructure — cameras, SCADA systems, drones, and data repositories — to predict equipment failures, detect unsafe behaviors, and optimize operations. Our platform deploys intelligence in various ways to improve productivity and safety — monitoring PPE compliance via computer vision, optimizing froth flotation processes, analyzing longwall shearer performance, tracking MSHA citation patterns, and more.
Our founders started their careers at Palantir before going on to build Blend Labs (publicly traded fintech, founded as CTO) and Even (acquired by Walmart). Our leadership team brings experience from Uber, Metropolis, and other high-bar organizations. We're a small, senior team that ships daily to production mines.
AI isn't just our product — it's how we build. We're an AI-first engineering team that uses the latest models and tooling throughout our development process, moving faster and at higher quality than traditional teams our size.
Our culture values high agency, deep ownership, collaboration, and autonomy across a fully remote workforce. Teams here move quickly and make meaningful contributions to a product that shapes global industrial outcomes.
The Opportunity
Realm is rapidly expanding across the American coal mining industry, where we are positioned to boost coal production by $10B per year. To support that growth, we're hiring a Technical Recruiter who thrives in fast-moving environments, can identify exceptional technical talent, and partners closely with engineering and product leadership to build the team that powers Realm's mission.
This role owns full-cycle recruiting for our most critical technical hires -- engineers who write TypeScript and Rust, deploy to Kubernetes, build computer vision pipelines, and go hands-on in active mine sites. You'll be our first dedicated recruiting hire, which means you'll also help build the systems, processes, and culture that will scale hiring at Realm.
What You'll Do
Full-Cycle Technical Recruiting
Own end-to-end recruiting for software engineering, forward deployed engineering, and applied AI/ML roles
Source, engage, and close exceptional candidates across channels -- outbound outreach, inbound pipelines, referral networks, and niche technical communities
Build and manage a high-quality candidate pipeline with urgency and rigor, maintaining a strong bar at every stage
Partner with hiring managers to deeply understand role requirements and translate them into compelling search strategies
Conduct structured interviews and help calibrate the team on what "great" looks like for each role
Recruiting Operations & Systems
Design and own the ATS (Ashby) workflow, interview process, and candidate experience from first touch to offer
Build sourcing playbooks and templates that can be reused and improved over time
Track recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, pass-through rates, offer acceptance) and use data to improve outcomes
Manage relationships with candidates thoughtfully - Realm's reputation as an employer is a main part of your job
Employer Brand & Candidate Experience
Craft outreach and job descriptions that authentically represent Realm's mission, culture, and technical ambition
Represent Realm compellingly to candidates considering multiple offers, including those at larger or better-known companies
Contribute to initiatives that build Realm's presence in the technical communities we hire from
What We're Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications
5+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience, ideally in-house at a high-growth startup
Proven ability to source and close strong software engineers -- including backend, full-stack, and infrastructure roles
Comfortable recruiting for niche or highly specialized profiles (e.G., forward deployed engineers, ML engineers, industrial tech)
Strong sourcing instincts -- you don't just post and pray;
you build pipelines proactively and creativelyLow ego, high EQ, and a genuine collaborator -- you build trust quickly with both candidates and hiring managers
Highly organized and process-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple open roles simultaneously without dropping balls
Excellent written and verbal communication skills -- your outreach gets responses
Based in US - citizen or permanent resident
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience recruiting for industrial, defense, government, or mission-critical software environments
Familiarity with the technical concepts behind roles you recruit for (TypeScript, AI/ML, Kubernetes, APIs, computer vision)
Experience building a recruiting function from scratch at an early-stage company
Strong existing network of senior software engineers
Why Realm?
Work on mission-critical problems at the intersection of AI, safety, and global infrastructure
High-ownership role with direct influence on the team and culture we're building
Competitive compensation with significant equity upside
Dynamic, remote work environment with global reach
