POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides general operational supervision on **night shift** under the direction of the director/manager to assigned personnel. Responsible for organizing, directing and controlling workflow aspects of the section in order to improves processes to provide high quality and cost effective services.
TYPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct supervision to 10 to 40 technical staff. Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and supervises the workflow for staff. This includes initiating promotions, transfers, and performance management actions. Ensures department expenditures are in line with annual budget requirements. Oversees work schedule and daily activities of department staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
Able to sit, stand, walk, end, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids. Needs adequate color vision. Requires significant use of computer, phone and general office equipment. Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects. Ability to communicate effectively. May require off-site travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
- Four (4) years' training and experience in high-complexity testing in the respective specialty.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- MLS or Specialty Certification.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.

+ **Key responsibilities include:**
+ Part of the Maintenance leadership team responsible for plant technical operations, specifically production line maintenance, processing equipment maintenance and utility equipment maintenance
+ Assist with leading the preventative maintenance process, defining processes, driving improvements and achieving KPI targets
+ Coach, mentor and develop front line employees to meet current and future business requirements
+ Help lead change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts, including the implementation of a LEAN manufacturing environment
+ Utilize and model our beliefs in the execution of daily work activities and decision making

+ Partner with internal customers and suppliers, colleagues and support services to ensure achievement of targets

Qualifications
+ **Key qualifications include:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
+ Five or more years of experience in industrial maintenance with at least two or more years of experience in a leadership capacity
+ Prior experience in a beverage, food or other clean manufacturing environment with familiarity with quality, GMP and hygiene regulations preferred.
+ Prior experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, electric systems and PLC control systems and communication systems.
+ Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs with a grasp of financial factors in maintenance.
+ Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite applications; business management software (SAP preferred) needed.
+ Understanding of production processes & technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
+ Continuous improvement or process improvement experience. Green belt or black belt certification or prior TPM experience preferred.
+ Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to facilitate change
+ Time management, delegation and organization skills with strong problem solving ability
+ Ability to grow relationships with business partners and to lead, coach and develop employees

+ Assure a positive work environment by focusing on morale, associate relations, and administering discipline in a consistent manner.
+ Champion implementation of Lean Manufacturing. Lead the Plastics Department in establishing SMED, TPM, KanBan, 6S, and other lean tools. Help cascade best practices to other sites across the company. Act as a passionate leader for continuous improvement.
+ Direct and manage cross-functional staff: select, hire, train, coach and counsel; assure performance and morale. Assign duties and monitor quality of work.
+ Assure compliance with all related government regulations (OSHA, EPA, EEOC etc.) and company policies.
+ Other duties as assigned
**Knowledge and Experience:**
+ 10+ years' experience managing a large or technical manufacturing operations in a comparable environment.
+ In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes consisting of Injection molding, plastics, chemicals, and metals. Knowledge of manufacturing best practices, lean techniques, six sigma and continuous improvement processes.
+ Knowledge of ISO systems.
+ In-depth interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to effectively work with a diverse population, facilitate conflict resolution with demonstrated trust and integrity.
+ Advanced PC computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
+ In-depth knowledge of ERP systems - APICS certification preferred.
+ Demonstrated ability to cultivate commitment and cooperation of others through individual leadership skills including decisions making process, team building effectiveness, and organizational skills.
+ Demonstrated business and financial acumen.
+ Effective written / oral communication and presentation skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple cross-functional teams that generate results in a fast-paced environment.
**Education and Certification:**
+ Four year degree in engineering (highly preferred).
+ Certified Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt
