This impactful role, based on a hybrid schedule from our Schaumburg Headquarters, will report directly to the AVP of Enterprise Architecture and engage regularly with executive leadership to drive strategic technology initiatives. As a Business Technology Architect, you'll be instrumental in aligning technology with business goals, driving value through smart, scalable architecture. This role demands a strategic mindset to think outside the box, performing astute business and technical analysis to consistently deliver optimal recommendations and solutions. Your robust technical expertise in integration patterns, API management, and other core architectural capabilities will be crucial. You'll also serve as a functional lead, overseeing projects end-to-end and collaborating seamlessly with development teams, cloud operations, and other IT stakeholders. Your perspective on security and data architecture will be vital in ensuring comprehensive and resilient solutions.
Responsibilities:
+ Translate complex business problems into technical solutions by engaging with senior leadership, business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams.
+ Drive informed decision-making and risk mitigation through cost-benefit analysis, business case development, and trade-off discussions aligned with corporate objectives.
+ Design comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for core insurance platforms (policy administration, claims, underwriting, billing), integrating digital, data, and AI/ML capabilities.
+ Lead architecture reviews, technology assessments, proof-of-concept initiatives, and COTS software evaluations.
+ Ensure architectural governance, security, compliance, and performance across all enterprise platforms, incorporating best practices from security and data architecture.
+ Define fit-for-purpose solution architectures across systems, domains, and applications, aligned to diverse business goals, from system modernization to full platform transformation.
+ Guide solution implementation and review approaches and artifacts across the SDLC, leading enterprise architecture from both functional and technical perspectives.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area OR
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Over 8 years of progressive experience in IT architecture roles, with a proven track record in designing and implementing enterprise-level solutions across complex environments.
+ 5+ years of experience as an IT Business Architect or Solutions Architect, preferably with hands-on involvement in large-scale business process transformation or organizational change initiatives.
+ Proficiency in enterprise integration patterns, API management, and data architecture.
+ Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native architectures.
+ Prior experience leading enterprise digital transformations.
+ Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, or SAFe Architect.
+ Familiarity with enterprise architecture assessment frameworks for cloud platforms, such as AWS Well-Architected Framework and Azure Architecture Center.
+ Experience aligning EA tools with business capability modeling, road mapping, and strategic planning.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a strong executive presence & the ability to influence & persuade stakeholders at all levels.

Job Responsibilities
+ Define, develop, and drive the implementation of enterprise architecture standards and best practices. This includes defining standards, methods, and best practices for data architecture, analytics, and cloud solutions, including Snowflake features (e.g., Cortex, data sharing, compute/storage separation) where appropriate

Qualifications
Required:

+ Expert knowledge of OLAP vs. OLTP design patterns and their application in enterprise data solutions
+ Hands-on experience developing and optimizing user-defined functions (UDFs) and/or database stored procedures
+ Demonstrated expertise with ETL/ELT design and integration tools, including experience orchestrating data pipelines across multiple platforms
Preferred:
+ Experience designing and managing data streaming or real-time pipelines in Snowflake
+ Familiarity with workload monitoring, warehouse sizing, and resource monitors to ensure performance tuning and cost optimization in Snowflake
+ Programming knowledge in Python, Java, and SQL to support advanced data engineering and architectural development

**The Role**
We are looking for UC&C Technology Architects who are passionate about leveraging technology innovation for the betterment of humanity. This exciting customer-facing Technology Architect role will work in partnership with our Sales, Solution Engineering & Customer Success Executives, leading innovative conversations that help shape the growth of our enterprise customers. Technology Architects design and architect solutions utilizing our technology services platform. The successful Technology Architect must have a strong desire to leverage their technical and sales skills, including business acumen, to understand business requirements, develop a technical sales strategy, and effectively present solutions that address our customers' requirements and provide business value.
**Location**
This role has been designated as fully remote, candidates must reside in the United States.
**The Main Responsibilities**
+ Specialized Solution Design: This role is the go-to expert for Solution Engineers at Lumen when very deep knowledge and experience is needed for UC&C. Clarifies ambiguous requirements with sales and clients, ensuring the solution resolves underlying client issues. Provides guidance and alternatives to customer's requirements. May interpret customer requirements based on limited information.
+ Specialist Expertise: Within UC&C, provide on-demand design, solution best practices and industry expertise to the sales teams during the Learn/Buy/Get phases of the customer lifecycle experience. By proactively pulling in other specialists, expand the solution to be cross functional and multi-product. Follows industry technology trends through self-study and formal training and shares this knowledge with the teams they support along with their peer groups.
+ Product Partnership: Partners with Product Management in areas of process and design improvement within specific product area and contacts impacted departments to recommend potential solutions. Proactively provides input on strategic and tactical plans for new product development to teams across the organization.
+ Customer Meetings: Leads and/or attends customer meetings in person and via collaboration tools. Prepares and delivers technical proposals and presentations with the appropriate level of business acumen for the audience. Provides broad scope responses to solution and technology questions. Demonstrates advanced solution selling abilities and effective, pro-active customer communications. Interacts with all levels of customer's management team.
+ Custom Solutions: Exceptional understanding of UC&C technical and product boundaries and understanding of multi-product solutions and how these products interact with each other as to what is standard, what is available via special approval process, and what is not able to be provided. Partner with account team to shepherd custom requirements through sign-off process.
+ Sales Enablement: Works to self-enable the Sales Teams by freely sharing knowledge of process, key contacts, technology, and product for UC&C solutions, over the phone, in writing or through live trainings.
**What We Look For in a Candidate**
+ Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, related fields or equivalent industry experience in the private sector or military
+ Work experience: 5 years of relevant job experience.
+ General Experience: Pre-sales role responsible for needs identification, qualification, and solutions design with certain products/applications.
+ Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of advanced applications across multiple product areas with extensive knowledge of competitive offerings and trends.
