EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Six years of progressively responsible experience in network design, security and services.
CERTIFICATION :
Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required
CCNP Certification preferred
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Design, configure, install, and manage all local area and wide area network systems including, but not limited to, network equipment and cabling solutions.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots network infrastructure including but not limited to, building core switching and access level devices.
2. Develops and enforces network addressing schema standards.
3. Configures and maintains the DHCP scopes and servers.
4. Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots UPS equipment including managing any related vendor.
5. Coordinates and leads building infrastructure upgrades with contractors.
6. Designs, maintains, and troubleshoots central network management applications.
7. Monitors daily traffic flow for capacity, anomalies, and security risks. Responds and mitigates accordingly.
8. Produces appropriate documentation for deployment, configuration, and related processes.
9. Maintains accurate and auditable up to date inventory records for LAN/WAN network infrastructure equipment.
10. Designs, manages, and advises on structured cabling systems including fiber-optic and conventional copper (hard-wired network) connectivity infrastructure.
11. As part of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team, responds to information system security incidents, including investigation of, countermeasures to, and recovery from computer-based attacks, unauthorized access, and policy breaches; interacts and coordinates with third party incident responders, including law enforcement.
12. Monitors infrastructure systems for security incidents and vulnerabilities; develops monitoring and visibility capabilities; reports on incidents, vulnerabilities, and trends.
13. Analyzes and recommends security controls and procedures in business processes related to use of network systems and assets, and monitors for compliance.
14. Advises on procedures and policies to increase security posture and manage emerging threats.
15. Participates in disaster recovery planning, testing and response.
16. Advises and contributes to project plans for the implementation of upgrades to systems and services in addition to possible new replacement systems.
17. Coordinates with departments to evaluate, onboard, and secure emerging technologies such as IP cameras, IoT and IIoT devices, etc.
18. Assists the Wireless Engineer in the design and troubleshooting of the wireless network.
19. Assists in the management of vendors and manufacturers - including contracts, warranties, renewal quotes, and licensing agreements.
20. Primary department liaison to Construction Management, Engineering, and Tele Communications Departments regarding WAN/LAN integration.
21. Acts as backup to the Security Engineer in all aspects of internet access and firewall security for the District.
22. Assist the Network Technology Director in development of Request for Proposals (RFP) for E rate and other bids.
23. Provides a point of escalation and support to the Technology Support Services Department and Instructional Technology Department.
24. Works closely and collaboratively with other team members, systems, and database administrators and those who provide end-user support to integrate technologies with appropriate systems and applications across the district.
25. Mentors network technicians, system administrators, and technology support technicians in network design and troubleshooting.
26. Provide after-hours support related to projects, upgrades, and outages (as needed).
27. Maintains confidentiality of information.
28. Regularly required to drive District and personal vehicles in the performance of assigned tasks.
29. Reports to work every day on time.
30. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Extensive knowledge of office technology software including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and meticulous handling of details
• Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications and perform a variety of internet related functions

Responsibilities:
