What you'll do:

Participates in planning, design, installation and configuration of telecom transport equipment such as Carrier Ethernet, DWDM, Sonet and Microwave transport systems.

Perform network analysis and troubleshooting of AEP's telecommunication transport networks and systems.

Collaborate with planning, project management, various engineering organizations and vendors to satisfy AEP's requirements for the telecom transport network.

Perform scoping details for telecom transport projects related to new installs as well as upgrades to existing telecom transport equipment.

Prepares cost estimates and supporting documentation for engineering assignments using established guidelines.

Performs documentation of project work using established guidelines.

Performs network assignments to develop telecom architecture improvements for the transport network.

Follow standard workflow for engineering projects; apply economic analysis techniques and adhere to budgeting and approval processes in project development.

Demonstrate knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.

Learn AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of one's organizational unit.
What we're looking for in a Consultant (Grade 7):

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study plus 2 years of relevant work experience, OR Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 4 years of relevant work experience OR HS diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant work experience required.

Valid Driver's License is Required.
What we're looking for in a Consultant Senior (Grade 8):

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study plus 5 years of relevant work experience OR Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 7 years of relevant work experience OR HS diploma/GED with 9 years of relevant work experience required.

Valid Driver's License Required.
