Software Test Engineers work with dedicated product teams to ensure that our products deliver against our customers’ unmet needs. They function as ambassadors of quality within the team and lead by example in instilling a testing mindset to improve overall quality and team velocity. They are responsible for ensuring our software functions the way it is intended by creating automated testing plans and strategy, creating/coaching software engineers/Associate Software Test Engineers/Software Test Engineers to create various forms of automated testing, execute tests and solve complex issues. They work side by side with software engineers to improve overall software quality and recommend opportunities for improvement.

During the first six months, you will:

· Recommend and implement improvements to team core processes

· Create test plans and oversee testing tasks from design to completion

· Identify testing gaps in the team’s product and finds ways to address them

· Add automated tests for the team to existing framework

· Work within the scope of a team of developers and product owners

· Analyze Production issues and regression bugs to identify and implement preventative measures

· Utilize existing load and performance testing frameworks

· Perform exploratory testing on the product to understand its testing challenges

· Understand how to use security testing tools to find gaps in security coverage


Required Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with 2+ years of experience.

· Demonstrated experience writing automated tests using frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright

· Experience with performance testing using tools such as JMeter, Artillery or Locust

· Demonstrated experience working with client-side web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)

· Experience testing RESTful APIs

· Experience writing SQL queries including joins

· Experience testing consumer facing web applications

· AWS experience is a plus

· Knowledge of software testing best practices in an agile environment

· Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery integrations or tooling

· Must be adaptable to change and have a willingness to learn

· Must have a strong sense of curiosity

Prevailance is seeking a full-time Testing Officer to support Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) and PMS 339 Specialized Engineering. The Testing Officer shall be responsible for ensuring testing materials are ready to support all SWESC Great Lakes courses as well as provide test items formatted in accordance with NAVEDTRA 132 Navy School Testing Management Manual. This is a highly visible position both in our company and for the SWESC.


Specific duties include but are not limited to:


Responsibilities

  • Ensures testing materials are ready to support all SWESC Great Lakes courses.
  • Ensures tests are administered in accordance with the testing plan established by the course curriculum model manager.
  • Manage all aspects of the proctor services for all SWESC Great Lakes courses.
  • Ensures all tests are properly graded, associated reports are printed and the analysis generated by the automated system to support course testing and student tracking requirements
  • Oversee the generation of the Test Item Analysis reports annually for SWESC Great Lakes ‘C’ schools
  • Oversees the overall security of all testing materials
  • Conducts test item analysis for all accession level courses at SWESC Great Lakes using the automated test item analysis from the Moodle LMS
  • Provides Testing and Evaluation Reports
  • Process all reports from the automated system and provide to the Academic Review Board
Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years' technical experience in the subject matter hired to instruct
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in a Military Training Environment
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience developing administrative process productivity tools

Qualifications:

  • Navy Engineering-rate background
  • Master Training Specialist qualified
  • Experience as a curriculum manager / course supervisor
  • Comprehensive knowledge in database management

• Recommend scope of work for automation testing and plans are in place to implement and execute automation test scripts
• Execute / maintain automated scripts and troubleshoot/fix. Coordinate the updates with Test Analyst(s) as needed. Defect Management, including logging and reporting of defects

Job Description

Avant is adding to our team in Chicago! We are looking for an entrepreneurial, self-driven candidate who is passionate about compliance and interested in making a difference. You will be primarily responsible for conducting second line regulatory compliance monitoring and testing, supporting regulatory risk assessments, and supporting regulatory compliance training. This role may also entail support of other compliance functions including compliance reporting and utilization of governance, risk and compliance ("GRC") software.

In this role, you are expected to maintain a high degree of knowledge of consumer lending rules and regulations, including, but not limited to TILA, ECOA, UDAAP, FCRA, FDCPA, SCRA, MLA, GLBA, EFTA, TCPA, E-SIGN, BSA and other AML related regulations. You will work with multiple business units to support regulatory compliance oversight of Avant's growing product offering.

What you'll do at Avant:

  • Perform targeted regulatory testing to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Review controls established and owned by business owners for effectiveness
  • Evaluate policy, procedure, training, and processes with respect to regulatory requirements
  • Partner with business units to effectively address risk identified through compliance audits
  • Assist in execution of the regulatory risk assessment framework, including collaboration with various business units to identify controls and gaps in business rules and processes work with business to address findings
  • Participate in team initiatives to enhance second line compliance oversight and strategic business partnership, aligned to growth and scale of the growing Avant business
Why you are a fit for Avant:
  • Experience conducting compliance monitoring and testing, including interpreting consumer protection regulations to write compliance test scripts, gathering system data, and utilizing creative approaches to enhance testing effectiveness
  • In depth knowledge of federal and state consumer protection regulations, such as TILA, ECOA, UDAAP, FCRA, FDCPA, SCRA, MLA, GLBA, EFTA, TCPA, E-SIGN, and BSA
  • 4+ years of financial services regulatory compliance experience (bank experience preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree required; JD/CRCM a plus
  • Outstanding initiative, communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of being able to interface and collaborate effectively with other departments
  • Ability to multitask between complex projects in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent ability to investigate, analyze, and interpret data as well as state and federal regulations
  • Self-confidence, good judgment, and the ability to make sound decisions
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and monitor aptitude development to optimize accuracy and performance
  • LogicGate, SQL, Atlassian (Jira and Confluence), and/or Looker experience a plus
This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $70,000 - USD $108,000 / Year

Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.
