Position Description:

This is an entry-level position ideally for someone with little to no practical experience. After an orientation/training period would make similar quality control tests of construction materials as those of a Testing Technician II, primarily in the field but also in the laboratory, as scheduled by the Testing Manager or the Supervisors of Field and/or Laboratory Testing. This person would be assigned to projects based upon experience levels obtained. Assignments would be diversified to be able to achieve the experience level of a Testing Technician II in the appropriate time period. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word will be utilized. Training provided.

On a given day, your work will consist of:
  • Performing construction material testing on sand, clay, stone, concrete and hot mix asphalt.
  • Making daily quality control tests in the field or laboratory at the required intervals to ASTM, AASHTO, MDOT, or applicable tests standards.
  • Ensuring personal safety, per HRC policy, while making these tests.
  • Reporting of the test results to HRC or (other agency) site personnel assigned to the project (and contractor if appropriate and / or directed to do so).
  • Daily and accurate completion of written reports indicating such tests using the forms and the format established by the Testing Manager.
  • Completing accurate logging of samples obtained in the field at the testing laboratory using the forms and the format established by the Chief Testing Engineer and /or the Supervisors of Laboratory Testing.
  • Driving to, from and on active construction sites; company vehicle provided for valid drivers.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • This position typically entails 5% office work and 95% job site work.
  • These percentages are not guaranteed to this position as each assigned job may entail different circumstances.
  • Lifting/lowering of testing equipment that weighs up to 40 lb.
  • Bending, stretching and stooping
Field:
  • Standing and/or walking for an almost continuous 8 to 12 hours per day.
Walking on miscellaneous surfaces that are often:
  • Affected by the weather
  • Filled with equipment ruts

Summary:

Our Field Engineers will work directly with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, and Superintendents to assist with various aspects of project management. Field Engineers must be self-motivated and interested in learning all aspects of construction. Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the estimating process as directed, including attending pre-bids, quantity take-offs, sub-bid solicitations and other assigned duties.
  • Weekly submission of quantities installed for productivity reporting on “Self-Perform” Projects
  • Know and understand all relevant project documentation (Drawings, Specifications, SOW, addendums, etc.)
  • Complete document control procedures (Drawing Log, RFIs, Submittals, Meeting Agendas and Minutes, Open Issues, etc.), including issuance of relevant documents to sub trades
  • Compile and submit required submittal packages with shop drawings for approval followed by completing and updating submittal log
  • Ensure Submittals comply with project specifications prior to submission
  • Compile and update project punch list or issues matrix
  • Review weekly productivity reports for potential areas of improvement with the Project Manager and Superintendent
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in daily coordination of subcontractors and suppliers in accordance with the project schedule
  • Assist the Project Team with onsite material purchases as needed
  • Assist the Project Team in all required documentation including but not limited to Daily Pre Task, Man-hour reporting, Meeting agendas/minutes, and any other customer specific requirements
  • Assist and ensure proper documentation relevant to any additional work
  • Assist the Superintendent to ensure completion of “As Built” drawings
  • Assist PM and Superintendent in completing project closeout requirements
  • Assist corporate and onsite safety personnel and assist as required
  • Plan ahead in accordance with the project schedule
  • Act professional, courteous, respectful and helpful to everyone at all time
  • Assist with all Project Close out requirements

Required Skills

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Primavera
  • Experience with BIM, GradeBeam, and Bluebeam is preferred
  • Ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written format
  • Ability to take direction, read, and understand plans and specifications required
  • Strong analytic skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow through and meet deadlines

Job Responsibilities

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Quality Assurance is a vital part of any aerospace operation as it ensures that all operations are conducted in a safe and reliable manner. The candidate must be able to identify any potential issues or risks that could compromise safety, performance, or reliability and take appropriate corrective action. Experience in auditing, inspection, and testing procedures is essential for success in this role. Possessing these skills and qualifications, a Quality Assurance Engineer can help to ensure the highest quality standards are met here at Baker Industries.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Documenting and reporting product or service quality levels
  • Developing a workflow or AS9102 Form 3 for product inspection
  • Following up with the appropriate channels when mistakes are found
  • Evaluating adequacy of Quality Assurance standards
  • Devising sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data
  • Reviewing the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspections systems
  • Investigating customer complaints and non-conformance issues
  • Collecting and compiling statistical quality data
  • Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system (Continuous Improvement)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven work experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or DSQR. 
  • Relevant training, experience, and/or certifications as a Quality Assurance Engineer. 
  • Experience with flight hardware is a must. 
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS13100, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards. Must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases.  Experience with DISCUS is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance.
  • High school diploma/GED, prior certification as a DSQR for any Aerospace Prime contractor, or equivalent work experience.

The CM/QA Lead will establish and maintain enterprise-wide configuration management and quality assurance systems across all programs, ensuring compliance with defense industry standards while providing independent oversight of quality processes. This dual role integrates configuration control with quality management for optimal process efficiency and removes conflicts of interest by providing independent quality oversight across multiple production contracts, UAS programs, and prototype development efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Configuration Management
  • Establish and implement company-wide CM policies, procedures, and standards across all programs
  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans (CMPs) for all active programs including production contracts, UAS systems, and prototype development
  • Create and manage configuration baselines for hardware, software, firmware, and documentation Implement change control processes including change request evaluation, approval workflows, and implementation tracking
  • Establish configuration identification schemes and naming conventions across all product lines
  • Manage configuration status accounting and reporting systems Coordinate configuration control between multiple concurrent programs
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, design documents, test procedures,

Quality Management System
  • Implement, and maintain quality management system (QMS) in accordance with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards
  • Enforce quality policies, procedures, and work instructions for all operational areas

  • Provide strategic oversight of supplier quality activities and integration with enterprise QMS

Education & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience with independent quality oversight and audit functions
  • Background in both hardware and software configuration and quality management
  • Experience with multiple concurrent program management from CM/QA perspective
Defense Industry Experience
  • Experience with defense acquisition programs and DoD standards (MIL-STD- 973, DoD-STD-480, AS9100)
  • Knowledge of DCMA oversight requirements and government quality expectations
  • Familiarity with ITAR compliance and export control requirements
  • Experience with defense contractor quality management and government audits
  • Understanding of government contracting quality requirements (FAR/DFARS)
Technical Requirements
  • Knowledge of CM tools (PLM systems, version control software) and QA tools (statistical analysis, measurement systems)
