The Advocate Counselor works in the Bronx, at the Theater Arts Production Company School, a 6th -12th grade arts-based Community School.
The Advocate Counselor focuses on supporting students who are chronically and severely chronically absent from school, struggling academically, behaviorally, and who have a history of poor attendance. The Advocate Counselor provides supportive mentoring services, including but not limited to attendance outreach, home visits, classroom support, crisis intervention, and individual and small group social-emotional support in partnership with the school staff to support students in reaching their academic and social emotional goals.
The Advocate Counselor position is a 10-month position (September – June), 40 hours per week, and will be supervised by the Community School Director.
The hourly range for this role is $22.50-$25.50
How You'll Be Making a Difference
- Responsible for a caseload of students, including maintaining attendance and educational progress, providing students and families with continuous feedback and resources to meet the needs and ensure academic success
- Provides individual and group mentoring to students on a weekly basis
- Conducts daily student attendance outreach
- Leads and facilitates attendance team meetings
- Utilizes data to inform attendance practices and outreach
- Provides outreach to students and their families, including phone calls, written correspondence, and home visits (home visits always conducted in pairs)
- Facilitates communication between students, families, and school staff
- Completes required documentation, including Dr. Cloud notes, in a timely manner
- Provides crisis support, conflict mediation and social-emotional support
- Completes regular assessments and provides resource referrals in support of school-based services (with support of the site manager)
- Facilitates milieu services in common spaces, such as classroom, cafeteria, and afterschool push-ins
- Participates in staff meetings and staff development opportunities
- Collaborates on transdisciplinary team of Wediko and school staff to create individualized plans to support student progress
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required for school events
- Cultivates and maintains positive and effective relationships with Wediko team, school and school administrators, and other Community Based Organizations
- Supports the implementation of the Community School Model
- All functions and task responsibilities are subject to change, as deemed necessary by Site Manager and Program Manager based on needs of assigned site
- Associate’s degree in social sciences; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- 1 or more years experience providing direct services in school-based or residential program
- Knowledge of attendance outreach best practices
- Strong communication (verbal and written with proficiency in English) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to approach challenges in a collaborative, supportive, and creative manner
- Commitment to working from a strengths-based perspective
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development, with proven use of supervision to improve practice

This role supports our performing arts programs and ensures smooth operations within our department. Key responsibilities include:
Managing scheduling

Serve as a liaison among staff and students
Assist in creating and developing performing arts projects

Jammerz responsibilities : help kids come together with music to form their own band and prepare for performances. Teach every kid their instruments (guitar, bass, piano, vocals, drums)/ parts for songs, help them learn to play in rhythm and play together as a group. Main Objectives : Teaching skills to help kids become more knowledgeable and confident in their performing arts and musical abilities.
Essential Functions: Support rehearsals, Assist girls in preparing for music and dance performances.

Work environment: Mostly inside the Academic building however, it is a ranch type environment including animals, experiencing varied weather conditions at times such as wind, rain, snow, ice, extreme heat or cold. Grounds consist of rocks, uneven grounds, cement, grass, dirt, and mud. Extremely noisy at times inside and outside of buildings.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and talk. This position frequently requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, sitting, lifting, reaching over your head. Employee will need to be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision clarity (100 yards), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The temperature is regulated comfortably for a school setting.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of guitars including tuning and restringing guitars
- Basic understanding of piano, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, and ukulele
- Basic understanding of how to set up and use amps, and microphones.
- Must be available to work all-day trips and concerts 4-6 times a year

Pay Rate: $6.00 per hour plus tips, 0 - 19.75 hours per week depending on department need and availability of funds.
This position will gain marketable work experience by working with Yavapai College staff, Faculty and affiliates in a group effort to support the mission, goals and values of Yavapai College. The PAC Coffee House Barista will support the PAC in an effort to provide opportunities for cultural enrichment. The Coffee House Barista Office is open during the week and before/during scheduled shows.
Duties include:
•Passionate about coffee, food and creating hospitality experiences in a team environment.
•Commitment to mastering our recipes and techniques as well as develop a knowledge base of specialty coffees and teas
•A successful candidate will demonstrate a high willingness to learn, punctuality, and strong customer service skills
•Following food safety, and sanitary procedures for all foods and drinks
•Taking customers food and drink orders and payments
•Operate a coffee and espresso machine

- Sick Leave: 12 days sick leave annually. NOTE: Employees working less than full time or an amount of contractual days will receive a proration of sick leave.
- Personal Leave: Use of up to three personal leave days per year which are charged against accumulated sick leave to take care of items of personal business
- Other Leave: Bereavement leave, Civic Duty Leave (Jury duty, active military duty, military training), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- Holidays: 24 days during the year as paid holidays for full-time employees which include Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, 3 days at Thanksgiving, Winter/year end break (10 days), Martin Luther King Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth.
- Breaking Bread: 32 meal swipes for use at the Prescott Campus Eatery. All Other Campuses and Sites receive a 140 credit each semester (fall and spring) to be used at the Open Market on campus/center
- Spanish Interpreter Incentive Program: Employees interested in additional compensation for their Spanish speaking skills agree to assist YC by attending two recruiting events and being available for Spanish Interpretation needs as they arise. Compensation is added to the employee's regular pay at the rate of 175 per month. Employees that are interested in participating let your HR Business partner know, so they can schedule you for the ACTFL language proficiency test at the YC testing center.
- Direct Deposit: Paychecks deposited directly into the employee's bank account(s)
- Tuition Waiver: Eligible Full-time Faculty and Staff may enroll up to 6 hours; eligible dependents may enroll in a partial or full program of course work without payment of tuition, exceptions may be lab fees and market based additional fees
- Sabbatical: Faculty, professional and administrative staff may apply for compensated leave of up to a year after six years of continuous service

This role is ideal for someone passionate about honing their craft, gaining hands-on experience, and contributing to a project that blends storytelling, culture, and artistry. You will use one stable camera to capture the full performance and a secondary moving angle to provide dynamic and engaging visuals.
Date & Time: Saturday, April 12th, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate one stable camera and a secondary moving angle to capture dynamic footage.

Requirements:
- Experience in videography, particularly for live performances or events, is preferred.
