Who you are:
As a Therapeutic Live-in Companion, you will work directly with clients in their home and community to foster ongoing individual engagement in the therapeutic process and implement appropriate activities or supports as identified by the care team. You will also communicate progress and observations to both Intent Clinical team members and external treatment providers. You are collaborative and organized, have excellent oral and writing skills, and can develop meaningful professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and coworkers. You are professional, dependable, and able to tailor your therapeutic approach according to each client's specific needs. You have experience in the mental health and behavioral health industry, outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills, and a strong understanding of family systems and addressing complex family dynamics. You are dedicated to the client's well-being, understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion, and are adept at managing crises while remaining calm and focused. You are comfortable with traveling and staying in or near the client's home, and are able to establish professional boundaries.
What you'll do:
- Work a variable schedule, typically two weeks on, two weeks off to meet client care demands. Travel is required during on-duty weeks. Off-duty weeks may include administrative support, coaching, and other client-related responsibilities as needed.
- Cultivate ongoing individual engagement in the therapeutic process and implement appropriate activities or supports as identified by the care team.
- Coordinate and implement a comprehensive companion services plan addressing the client's educational, vocational, recreational, and social needs.
- Crisis management for individuals in mental health and/or substance use recovery.
- Maintain healthy, therapeutic boundaries.
- Model healthy coping and daily living skills.
- Provide psychoeducation related to the client's diagnoses and substance use if deemed appropriate.
- Assist on-site nursing staff with behavioral insights and supports as needed and appropriate.
- Observe the client's behaviors (i.e., dietary, sleep, leisure, etc.) and communicate back to the case supervisor to adjust the care plan, as necessary.
- Facilitate efficient, courteous, and respectful communication between medical team and Director of Companion Services. Medical team may consist of on-site nurses, doctors, psychiatrists, etc.
- Collaborate with the care team on short and long-term client goal plans.
- Complete daily, timely documentation of progress in case notes and time entry.
- Provide connections to community resources, treatment options, and/or peer counselors.
- Provide observed in-home drug testing and drug screen monitoring.
- Emergency support and client transportation as needed.
- Provide assistance in managing client cases and completing related administrative duties.
- Additional duties will be assigned as deemed appropriate.
What you'll bring:
- 5+ years of experience working as a therapeutic companion, recovery coach, or mental health clinician.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation Therapy
- Experience performing Therapeutic Recreation assessments
- Knowledge of inclusion principles and philosophy, and inclusive programming
- Current trends in TR and Inclusion programming and services
Essential Functions:
- Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate participant progress in therapeutic recreation programs
- Plan and conduct workshops regarding therapeutic recreation programs for organizations, agencies, and support groups
- Coordinate inventory and requisitions supplies, and maintenance of equipment as needed
- Plan, implement, evaluate, and participate in leisure activities
- Market programs and inclusive services to disability specific organizations, agencies, and support groups within the community
- Provide inclusion evaluations and support for members of the community who are seeking involvement in a traditional recreation setting
- Supervise volunteers, interns, and temporary staff
- Respond to emergency situations as needed
- Develop and implement revenue streams for programs
- Train, supervise, and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation intern students in accordance with regulations and guidelines established by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
Minimum Qualifications:

Licenses/Certifications:
- Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges
- Requires current certification as a CTRS through NCTRC and current licensure as a LRT through NCBRTL. If not a current resident of NC, must have the ability to obtain licensure as an LRT within 45 calendar days of hire

Position Summary: Provide therapeutic recreational activities for all residential patients. Provide continuity of program services in an ethical, legal and moral manner within a safe environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Participate as a team member in the delivery of services to patients and their families.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work hours prescribed by the program administrator and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
- Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates group experiential therapy programming in designated treatment program/s under direct clinical supervision
- Completes documentation in the client record within prescribed time frame
- Participates with interdisciplinary clinical staffing and contributes to the client treatment plan
- Provides leadership in planning and implementing recovery enhancement and recreational activities
- Conduct staff education/trainings on the role of experiential therapies
- Attends mandated facility training.
- Provides courteous, high quality service to Rosecrance employees, representative of outside agencies and members of the public by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

Responsibilities
Designs, implements, conducts and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs (group and one to ones) including the creative arts, which meet resident needs and maximize resident strengths.
