What you'll do:

The Adult Therapist will provide therapy to adults and their families treating a broad range of problems from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. The therapy will include assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and case management. It will also include maintaining client records in current and complete status. PLEASE NOTE: These positions will require community based work providing individual, couples, and family therapy.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide psychotherapy for the purpose of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adults and their families, individualizing these services to meet unique needs. Use community resources and referrals, as appropriate, to enhance and expand treatment.
  • Deliver at least 40 hours of work per week, with a goal of 30 hours of therapy services. Provide case management services to support and augment the therapy, as needed. Productivity standards are established annually, at a minimum. Some evening hours are required.
  • Work independently and responsibly, and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment and prevention programs.
  • Produce complete, timely, thorough, quality clinical documentation of all services rendered, both billable and non-billable, as required. The documentation must include sufficient information about the activity being documented and the client's participation in, and response to, the activity.
  • Ensure quality service delivery, including clinical care and all associated duties. Utilize Best Practice therapeutic approaches whenever possible. Maintain all client records in current status and in accordance with agency policies and procedures, as well as RBHA, state, and federal requirements. Participate in the agency's Quality Management Program, as needed or requested.
  • Participate actively in regular supervision, accepting feedback and suggestions in a collaborative and strengths-based way.
  • Interact regularly and constructively with the clinical team, support staff, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled administrative, in-service, and staff meetings. Recommend changes that would improve service delivery.
  • Coordinate communication with other departments of the agency in accomplishing continuity of care.
  • Participate in standing and ad hoc committees and work groups, as requested. Provide instruction and training for interns and coworkers in his/her respective discipline, as requested.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with state, community, and contracting organizations, and with collaborating partners.
What you'll provide:
  • Must possess a Master's Degree in behavioral health field.
  • Licensure through AzBBHE preferred.
  • Experience working with adults in the community behavioral health field preferred.
  • Detail orientated and ability to multi-task in a fast- paced environment.
  • Will need to be able to provide some evening hours.
  • Must be organized and reliable.
  • Must have knowledge of community resources, be trauma-informed, and be able to individualize treatment.
  • Experience with trauma therapy preferred.
  • Must have Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Must have a valid AZ driver's license with no major infractions in the past three years.
  • Must have regular access to reliable transportation.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred. Language differential available.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment.

  • If driving while on agency time or on agency business, a valid Arizona driver license and appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT - SPC's liability insurance carrier is required. At time of hire, a 3-year state driving record with no major infractions or excessive driving violations/tickets is required.
  • Staff members who provide direct client services must be at least 21 years old. Staff members who provide support services (administrative or clinical) must be at least 18 years old. All employees will have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Position Summary

This position provides consult coordination, clinical assessment, therapeutic interventions, care coordination and transition planning to patients and families as an independently licensed clinician. This position participates as an interdisciplinary team member providing interventions with the patient/family that include a range of care on an outpatient or inpatient basis. The position requires knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities and the ability to use that knowledge to assist patients and families in achieving therapeutic goals. This position requires knowledge of mandated reporter responsibilities; use of financial, community and other resource networks; ability to advocate with outside systems; and collaborate with medical staff. This position may provide individual, group, and/or family therapeutic interventions for an assigned caseload. In addition to therapeutic interventions with patients and families, the position must be able to provide appropriate clinical documentation and recommendations to insurance reviewers, referral sources and to other governmental agencies as requested. This position receives administrative supervision from division leadership, and clinical direction from the Manager, Mental Health Therapy, and Division Chief, Psychology.

Position Duties

  • Provide Therapeutic Interventions

    1. Complete comprehensive individualized assessments that identify psychosocial factors important to management of physical, psychological, behavioral, emotional and/or mental health issues. Ensures assessments are documented appropriately for insurance reimbursement. Comply with Phoenix Children's policies and practices.
    2. Utilize screening tools as necessary to identify appropriate levels of care.
    2. Develop patient-centered individualized treatment plans to improve patient health and wellness.
    3. Provide ongoing evidence-based therapeutic interventions that build on patient and family strengths and address ongoing mental health needs. Use clinical best practices to engage families and achieve desired clinical outcomes. Ensure services are clinically necessary and appropriately documented for insurance reimbursement. Provide services in accordance with Phoenix Children's policies and practices.
    4. Identify barriers that impede treatment and/or recovery and help patient/family identify strengths and build on protective factors to assist with success at discharge.
  • Coordinate Care with Other Facilities and Providers

    1. Coordination of care with insurance companies, community partners or governmental agencies, as necessary to serve the needs of the child and family. Provides appropriate documentation for coordination and complies with Phoenix Children's policies and practices.
    2. Cultivates and maintains effective interaction/communication with members of the medical staff, nursing staff, case manages, peers and families to facilitate care coordination provide and continuity of care.
    3. Develop treatment goals and objectives of disciplines involved in partite care, plans and coordinates effective treatment interventions.
    4. As necessary attend care conferences, interdisciplinary team rounds, and/or critical incidents/stress debriefings.
    5. Perform care coordination and monitor patients as they transition between outpatient and inpatient service.
    6. Refers cases identified as risk management issues, peer review issues, or quality issues to appropriate departmental units.
    7. Participates in hospital and departmental operations initiatives to improve care delivery methods.
    As unit based allotted, conducts or facilitates individual, group and family therapy meetings in the form of process groups, didactic groups; holds regular update meetings with families; provides patient and family education regarding behavioral health issues.
  • Documentation

    1. Completes clinical record documentation in a timely manner and provides information to coordinate care, confirm demographic information, provide recommendations to assist colleagues and medical team with patient care. Creates documentation to bill for services, as appropriate.
  • Learning

    1. Maintains professional competency by regularly participating in a variety of educational programs and in services, reviewing relevant professional publication, participating in community based committees related to service line responsibilities, and/or participating in professional societies to ensure ongoing awareness of current methodologies, practices and philosophies as applied to the patient care population.
    2. Maintains current knowledge of community and other resource networks to meet patient and family needs, provides relevant resources, and assists, as necessary with connecting the patient/family to the relevant resources.
    3. Participation in continuing education to continually improve skills or abilities.
    4. Maintains independent licensure

Position Summary

The Mental Health Therapist (MHT) would provide individual, and family therapy services, while coordinating services with the clinical team, namely the psychiatric provider. **Required Qualifications**
- Current, active, and unencumbered State License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed (Clinical) Professional Counselor (LPC or LCPC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Will be required to obtain licenses to practice in multiple states based on business needs.
- Proven excellent diagnostic, care collaboration, treatment planning, and short-term counseling skills leveraging evidence-based methodologies including but not limited to motivational interviewing, problem solving therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and team skills
- Experience with or willingness to learn and adapt to virtual therapy delivery
- Proven deep understanding of the psychosocial aspects of illness and health
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using electronic health record systems and engaging on multiple platforms
- Demonstrated understanding of insurance, Medicaid, Medicare billing requirements
- Evidence of strong crisis intervention skills
- Previous experience in a mental health clinic or hospital setting
**Education**
- Completed Master's degree program from an accredited College or University.
- State License with one or more of the following licenses: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed (Clinical) Professional Counselor (LPC or LCPC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

The typical pay range for this role is:
$29.10 - $62.32
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
