*Primarily providing Auricular Therapy*
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Contracted Auricular Therapy Practitioner to provide specialized auricular therapy services for withdrawal management and recovery support in a North Carolina-licensed residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program operating under Clinical Coverage Policy 8D-3 5600E and ASAM Level 3.1. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering auricular therapy, such as the NADA protocol, to individuals with SUD, focusing on withdrawal management, in both group and individual settings. The practitioner must adhere to the ethical guidelines of SUD treatment programs in North Carolina and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to support holistic recovery, while supporting a biopsychosocial and spiritual approach to this brain disease. The practitioner will work as an integral part of an interdisciplinary behavioral health and medical team, aligning with the core values of SUD treatment as outlined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
Responsibilities:
- Auricular Therapy Services: Administer evidence-based auricular therapy protocols (e.g., NADA 5-point protocol or similar) to support withdrawal management, reduce cravings, alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and promote emotional and physical stabilization for clients with SUD.
- Group and Individual Sessions: Facilitate auricular therapy sessions in both group and individual formats, tailoring interventions to meet clients’ needs while fostering a supportive, recovery-oriented environment.
- Withdrawal Management Support: Provide auricular therapy as a complementary intervention to assist clients in managing acute and post-acute withdrawal symptoms, in coordination with medical and behavioral health treatment plans.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with medical providers, therapists, and peer support specialists to integrate auricular therapy into comprehensive SUD treatment plans, ensuring alignment with ASAM 3.1 criteria and North Carolina 5600E policy.
- Client Assessment and Documentation: Conduct assessments to determine clients’ suitability for auricular therapy, monitor progress, and maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with state regulations and ethical standards.
- Education and Advocacy: Educate clients and staff about the benefits of auricular therapy in SUD recovery, promoting its role in stress reduction, relapse prevention, and overall wellness.
- Ethical Practice: Adhere strictly to the ethical guidelines of North Carolina SUD treatment programs, including confidentiality, informed consent, and respect for client autonomy and diversity.
- Safety and Hygiene: Maintain a safe, sterile environment for auricular therapy services, following all infection control protocols and state regulations for auricular therapy practice.
Education/Experience:
- Certification in auricular therapy or auriculotherapy from a recognized training program (e.g., NADA-trained Acudetox Specialist or equivalent).
- Training in the NADA 5-point protocol or other SUD-specific auricular therapy modalities required.
- Licensure as an acupuncturist (LAc) in North Carolina is a plus but not required if certified as a NADA Acudetox Specialist.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing auricular therapy for withdrawal management or SUD treatment, preferably in a residential or clinical setting.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver auricular therapy in both group and individual formats for clients with SUD.
- Experience working in ASAM Level 3.1 or similar residential SUD programs is highly desirable.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expertise in auricular therapy techniques that support withdrawal management, stress reduction, and recovery from SUD.
- Comfort working in a residential SUD treatment environment, with sensitivity to the unique challenges of clients in early recovery.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
- Knowledge of North Carolina Clinical Coverage Policy 5600E, ASAM 3.1 standards, and SAMHSA’s core values for SUD treatment (e.g., trauma-informed care, person-centered approaches).

Ethical Standards:

Requirements:

Pay: $74-$110 per hour. Pay rates are based on the provider license type, session location, and session types.
