**Description**
1. Assists occupational and physical therapists during direct patient care sessions. Safely transports or escorts a patient to the therapy session.
2. Communicates any changes in a patient's condition to the therapist, nurse, or other medical professional.
3. Serves as a life guard for the therapy pool.
4. Verifies the accuracy of the therapist's charges. Reports any documentation discrepancies to the appropriate team members.
5. Disinfects toys and equipment in compliance with infection control and regulatory guidelines.
6. Records heat and cold modality temperatures and performs eyewash station procedures. Records documentation findings on the appropriate log.
7. Reports unsafe equipment to therapy staff and/or leadership team and follows appropriate procedures.
8. Serves as the Departmental Safety Coordinator as assigned.
9. Maintains supply inventory in clinical areas. Orders supplies from the appropriate area or vendor.
10. Stocks linens in the designated clinical areas. Notifies the linen service when additional items are required.
11. Demonstrates knowledge and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
12. Maintains a positive attitude while demonstrating the adaptability necessary to effectively respond to changing departmental needs.
13. Communicates information clearly and concisely in a manner that is not offensive. Helps others understand and retain the message. Utilizes active listening skills.

Responsibilities *

  • If assigned patient care duties, Respiratory Therapy Technicians must complete training and demonstrate proficiency in all competencies, age-specific or otherwise, that are required of practitioners who are delivering patient services.

  • If assigned patient care duties, Respiratory Therapy Technicians perform basic respiratory care techniques such as:

  • Sputum inductions

  • Medication Administration

  • Aerosol and oxygen therapy

  • Analysis of blood gases and electrolytes from arterial/venous samples

  • Calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of blood gas analyzers

  • Performs and reviews quality controls on blood gas analyzers

  • Performs proficiency testing

  • Documents analytical measurements

  • Monitors temperature and humidity in blood gas labs

  • EKG diagnostic testing

  • Equipment rounds and compressed gas cylinder management

  • Basic ventilatory parameters

  • Patient education

  • Assists in performing intra-tracheal aspiration

  • Stocks and maintains designated areas with appropriate respiratory care equipment.

  • Re-processing of moveable equipment/devices, including inlet gaskets.

  • Set-up and testing of equipment such as ventilators, BiPAP, nitric oxide delivery machines and other medical devices.

  • Responsible for learning new technical devices and clinical procedures when applicable.

  • Provides report on pertinent observations of patient status to oncoming shift and/or shift supervisor when assigned patient care duties.

  • Attends shift and general staff meetings (including huddle).

  • Follows procedures for accurate and complete entries on medical-legal documents and the patient?s electronic medical record and credits reports for mislabeled patient tests.

  • Adheres to CLIA/CAP, department and Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to Joint Commission guidelines.

  • Provides equipment support, checks and preventive maintenance.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Completes continuing education units or professional development credits annually, including department and Michigan Medicine mandatory competencies within required timeframes or as specified by the department's continuing education program.

**Job Description**
We are seeking a dedicated part-time Physical Therapy Technician to join our healthcare team in Fallston. In this role, you will work alongside licensed physical therapists to provide exceptional patient care and support therapeutic treatments.
+ Assist physical therapists in delivering patient treatments and therapeutic exercises
+ Prepare treatment areas and maintain therapy equipment
+ Apply hot and cold therapy treatments under therapist supervision
+ Welcome and guide patients through their appointment process
+ Schedule and manage patient appointments
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment
+ Handle basic administrative tasks including phone calls and patient documentation
+ Monitor and report patient progress to physical therapists
+ Ensure proper setup and breakdown of therapy equipment
+ Assist patients with mobility and exercise routines as directed
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or equivalent required
+ Previous experience in a medical setting preferred (1+ years)
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
+ Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
+ Physical stamina to assist patients and handle equipment
+ Proficiency in basic computer systems for scheduling and documentation
+ Knowledge of medical equipment maintenance and safety protocols
+ Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
+ Strong organizational and time management skills
+ Team-oriented mindset with a compassionate approach to patient care

**The anticipated base salary range for this position is $15 -$16 hourly.** Salary is based on various factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Join our team as a PRN Rehabilitation Technician , responsible for clerical and clinical support in the Rehab Department under supervision. In this role, you will assist staff with daily tasks, maintain equipment, ensure compliance with care standards, and provide excellent customer service while consistently monitoring and implementing quality initiatives.

How you will make an impact

  • Ensuring the resident care policies and procedures are followed in compliance with applicable quality of care standards.
  • Assisting clinical rehabilitation staff with the preparation of treatment area, customer transport (ambulatory or wheelchair) to and from the Rehab department. Assisting with patient treatment only under the approved supervisory rules and regulations pertaining to each discipline.
  • Maintaining the cleaning, maintenance, and inventory of all Rehab equipment.
  • Scheduling rehabilitation appointments.
  • Consistently and appropriately responding to the needs and concerns of residents, families, and visitors in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous manner.

 What you will need

  • CPR Certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience; experience working with geriatrics preferred
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
