The Attendance Secretary performs such duties as necessary to provide support to the administrative staff of the Academy to facilitate the creation of an efficient and effective operation for teaching and learning. The Attendance Secretary, an administrative support staff member, presents a positive image of the Academy to parents, staff, students and the community. The Attendance Secretary handles all matters related to their duties in a confidential matter regarding students, student records, staff, parents and other Academy related matters.
Requirements:- Assist the Secretary in answering the telephone, taking and delivering messages, screening calls, maintaining calendars and making appointments for the administrative staff.
- Check voice and email messages and deliver all such messages to the appropriate administrator or staff person.
- Monitor and distribute all faxes to appropriate staff person.
- Prepare and make morning announcements.
- Prepare and monitor all tardy slips for students.
- Log all absences of students in Zangle.
- Prepare daily attendance log for staff and administration.
- Maintain student CA 60 records.

- Assist the Secretary in the completion of student registrations and enrollments.
- Record and track all purchase orders.
- Complete all supply orders for administrators and staff.
- Complete all records for checks requested and secure administrative approval for issuance of checks.
- Assist in the monitoring, updating and recording of all student discipline records, truancy records and attendance records.
- Assist in the preparation of teachers’ monthly attendance records.
- Perform such other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrators.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous secretarial experience and training is desirable but not required.
- Organizational skills while completing assigned tasks.
- Word processing skills for the completion of assigned tasks.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in the operation of office machines including the computer, copier, and fax machines, etc.
- Knowledge of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and data base management.

The Attendance Coordinator is often the first point of contact for students, families, and guests entering campus. This role requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, along with sensitivity, discretion, and a positive attitude. The Attendance Coordinator supports student attendance tracking, reporting, and record-keeping, and works closely with the Assistant Principal of Student Support, faculty, staff, and parents to ensure accurate attendance data and adherence to school policies. Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, SIS, and LMS systems is required.
Essential Responsibilities
? Maintain accurate daily attendance records, including period-by-period or positive attendance, and enter data into PowerSchool SIS.
? Verify and document student absences through communication with parents/guardians and teachers.
? Issue re-admit slips, tardy slips, off-campus passes, and related documentation.
? Generate daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly attendance reports.
? Monitor and follow up with students with attendance issues, initiating contact with parents/guardians as necessary.
? Assist administration in identifying students with frequent absenteeism or tardiness and support interventions.
? Reconcile discrepancies in attendance records and verify locations of students as needed.
? Collaborate with the Assistant Principal to generate correspondence regarding excessive absences or tardies.
? Provide front office support, including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and delivering messages.
? Assist with student registration and enrollment activities, inputting data and following up on missing or incomplete forms.
? Collect and maintain all school forms in the SIS system throughout the school year, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for staff and administrators.
? Support health-related recordkeeping and manage student medications in accordance with established procedures and communications.
? Prepare emergency/drill attendance lists and serve as the point of contact for attendance during emergencies.

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Attendance Counselor.
This title is governed by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission; meaning that a candidate for this position will be placed as a provisional employee. Upon hire, the employee will be required to complete a 90-Day Working test period during which the employee's performance will be evaluated. Employee must successfully complete the designated probation period in order to remain in the position as a permanent employee.
DEFINITION: Under direction, visits schools and homes to promote school attendance, investigates absences, and determines causes of absence or delinquency; does other related duties as required. The Attendance Counselor works closely with the principal and support staff to implement the most appropriate course of action to improve student attendance.
Note: The examples of work for this title are for illustrative purposes only. A particular position using this title may not perform all duties listed in this job specification. Conversely, all duties performed on the job may not be listed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts a needs assessment of the school's previous year's attendance and establishes a school attendance improvement plan with a laser focus on the four attendance categories.
- Generates a daily attendance summary report of absences and tardiness and responds immediately with the most appropriate course of action.
- Conducts investigations and deliver legal notices to students' homes.
- Enforces individual students' corrective action to improve attendance and punctuality.
- Appraises the principal and the Office of Attendance of any trends or extreme cases of absenteeism.
- Engages families by visiting homes, makes phone calls, or uses other forms of communications to make affirmative contact with families and determines reason for absence.
- Serves on the Truancy Task Force whose duties involve: patrolling neighborhoods of Newark with the Newark Police Department in order to transport truant students to the Task Force location; transport students from Truancy Task Force location to the school where the student is registered; complete and deliver paperwork to school's Main Office for follow up.
- Prepares social case histories with clear and accurate data containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Collects data for legal action and, when required, appears in court.
- Investigates and gathers various information for special studies.
- Collaborates with various district leads to ensure homeless and displaced students are receiving district supports.
- Conducts address verifications.
- Cooperates with public and private welfare agencies.
- Administers school census.
- May supervise the movement of students to and from the school bus.
- Participates in the following: Perfect Attendance Initiatives, Attendance Poster Contest, Truancy Task Force, and Parent Conference days.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience in teaching, guidance counseling, or social work or experience in the collection and investigation of information regarding school absences on a year for year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.
- Appointees will be required to travel throughout the City of Newark and surrounding areas and possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey as the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
- Knowledge of techniques used to conduct investigations.
- Knowledge of methods likely to be successful in promoting student attendance at school.
- Knowledge of techniques used to deal with hostile individuals.
- Ability to read and interpret laws, rules, and regulations of the Board of Education, relative to school attendance, and to apply them to specific situations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently
- Utilize strong problem-solving skills, particularly with Allen-Bradley systems
- Ensure reliable manufacturing processes and compliance with safety standards
- Perform preventative and annual maintenance of equipment
- Safely operate various hand tools and electrical testing equipment
- Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control schematics
- Adhere to safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Plan and execute maintenance work
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Respond promptly to unplanned maintenance requests
- Complete and document work orders accurately
- Communicate maintenance updates effectively
- Troubleshoot and maintain electronic controls and instrumentation
- Use diagnostic tools for system testing and repairs
Required Qualifications:
- Electrician/Maintenance Journeyman License in Michigan
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing maintenance experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills with PLCs and Ladder logic
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Willingness to participate in the Hazmat team
- Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Able to read blueprints and engineering drawings
- Availability for weekend and off-shift work when necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computer literacy with a willingness to learn SAP/PPE systems
- Experience with Allen-Bradley programming
- Maintenance experience in food processing environments
- Proficient with calibration tools and multimeters
- Able to troubleshoot various electrical circuits

Compensation: $30.60-$1.80/hr
Weekly Attendance Bonus: 3/hr
Shift Premium: 2 for hours worked between 2:00pm-6:00am
Sign-on Bonus: 5,000
