Highlights of your role:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Shift: 2:30pm-11:30pm, not a lot of OT. They pick up around July, expect 40-48 hours a week.

Salary: $27-35/hour plus 5% shift premium

Tool and Die Maker Role Description:

The responsibilities for the Tool & Die Maker are to maintain daily maintenance, upkeep

and repair of all dies for a safe, clean, productive and economical operation that fully

supports press production.

Tool and Die Maker Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential

duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable

individual with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. Also, additional job

duties may be assigned.

• Repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of dies.

• Work as a team with the production department on all tooling issues.

• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequence of

operations for fabricating tools, dies or assemblies.

• Use of measuring instruments to conform to specifications, such as; calipers,

gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify dimensions, alignments

and clearances of finished parts.

• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and bench grinders to cut, bore,

grind and shape parts to specific dimensions.

• File, grind, shim, and adjust parts for proper fit.

• Experience working with large progressive, transfer and deep draw dies.

• Cut, Shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes using power

and hand tools.

• Rework of damaged components in a timely manner.

• Capable of interacting with fellow team members in a professional manner.

• Troubleshoot problems to determine solutions.

• Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum three (3) years tool and die experience.

• Needs high strength steel knowledge and background.

Additional Skills Required: To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required: Computer skills: Experience with basic computer systems. Communication skills:

• Speak effectively with fellow employees or customers.

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.

• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Mathematical skills:

• Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra. Other Skills:

• Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties and Detail Oriented.

• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Tool and Die apprenticeship or journeyman status.

? Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and repair progressive, transfer, and deep draw dies
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams on new launches and die qualifications
  • Troubleshoot and fix die issues in a fast-paced stamping environment
  • Assist in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Perform spotting, machining, and die set-up with expert precision
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality on part quality and tooling standards

Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of experience in tool & die making for high-volume stamping
  • Strong background in progressive and transfer dies , large press lines, and die repair
  • Ability to read blueprints, CAD, and GD&T
  • Journeyman certification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of steels, coatings, and die materials
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Automotive stamping experience a big plus

Molex is currently seeking a dynamic, and self-motivated Tool and Die Maker to join our St Petersburg, FL facility. The Tool & Die Maker will create value by providing a support function for both legacy and new tooling. Conducting changeovers, troubleshooting, maintenance/repair, de-bugging, and qualifying on the Tools/Dies that range from 30 to 60 tons. 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday 4:30pm-2:00am.

External candidates are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus paid after 90 days of employment.

What You Will Do

  • Inspect & sharpen tools, perform preventative maintenance
  • Change over tools for similar production parts
  • Trouble shooting at set-up and produce parts to specification
  • Repair tooling, reverse engineer to create prints as needed
  • Operate standard tool room equipment with emphasis on grinding and precision form grinding
  • Perform press set-ups or change overs when needed, pull dies, set dies and trouble-shoot on the production floor. This may include lifting up to 50lbs.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience with Progressive Stamping Dies
  • Experience trouble shooting Stamping Dies/Tools in a manufacturing environment

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with stamping thin gage, non-ferrous materials and Bruderer punch presses
  • Experience working with carbide, guided strippers and 0.0001" tolerances
  • Experience with vision and in-line measurement systems
  • Press experience with speeds up to 1200 spm
  • Completion of a journeyman program
