What You'll Do:
As a Maintenance Tradesperson, you will carry out our Mission of Love by performing building and grounds maintenance duties to maintain Masonic Village buildings, properties, grounds and roadways.
Our Maintenance Tradesperson is responsible for the following:
- Demonstrating the ability to assist department supervisor in maintaining accurate and clear records of all maintenance work (preventive, scheduled and emergency).
- Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and evaluating all building exteriors, roadways, walkways and general grounds.
- Performing masonry tasks for repair, cleaning, reconditioning and construction using stone, brick, block and concrete for buildings, walls and surfaces including the maintenance of pointing.
- Performing carpentry, drywall, plaster, painting and related duties to repair existing building and for new construction.
- Maintaining roadways, shoulders and walkways by sealing cracks, resurfacing, patching, filling potholes, line and crosswalk painting.
- Performing excavation tasks including manual work and the operation of equipment including jack hammer, backhoe loader, dump truck, and skid loader. Assisting all other teams and departments in all jobs involving excavation.
- Installing and repairing exterior drains, gutters and down spouting including the cleaning of gutters of debris and assisting carpenters in the maintenance and repair of roofs.
- Assisting in the planning of work and the specification and acquisition of materials for general maintenance jobs.
- Maintaining work areas and vehicles in an orderly and clean manner, maintaining a safe work place. Performing tasks in a safe manner. Ensuring the proper care and use of tools, equipment and supplies.
- Maintaining professional growth and development by attending educational, technical and training programs, seminars and courses.
- Performing all aspects of snow operations on campus by plowing, equipment operations, salting, cindering, shoveling during winter weather conditions including off hours call-in.
- Completing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) generated work orders and providing clear documentation of work as required. Generating work orders for additional work or tasks identified in the field and completing or submitting them as appropriate. Maintaining an accurate record of time for cost distribution and payroll.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- A basic working knowledge of masonry, carpentry, building maintenance, painting and operation of basic excavation equipment.
- Two or more years' experience in two or more of the above trades is preferred.
- Vocational or technical school training is beneficial
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License, C.D.L., B Class or higher or the ability to obtain such license within one year of employment.
- Good written, oral, organizational, and computer skills.

Job Description
Join HII and Mission Technologies where our team works in the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The mid-life of RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems to ensure the Navy's aircraft carriers incorporate improved capabilities needed for success in the remaining 25 years of service. We are seeking a Master Tradesperson 2 (Mid-level electrician) to join our growing team. The selected candidate will be supporting RCOH Elevator Support Unit (ESU) by working on electrical systems to assist with refit and fleet modernization of Hangar Bay Divisional Doors and Deck Edge Elevator Doors. Your accomplishments will make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and America's national defense!
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Support trades team by working on active class surface ships to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
- Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on shipboard systems, integrated systems, and related equipment/software onboard Aircraft Carriers.
- Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
- Learn and apply production processes toward completion of assignments.
- Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
- High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of electrical experience.
- Must be able to read and use precision tools.
- Must be able to follow safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
- Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
- Must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
- Candidates with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
