**Role Description:**
American Express continues to invest in enterprise data management, and as part of the journey, the Enterprise Data Office is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the instructional design and development of training offerings that will enable our enterprise-wide data management transformation.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Learning Needs, Audience Alignment & Stakeholder Partnership
+ Conduct learning needs analyses and gap assessments - define learner personas, and map tailored journey paths that align with data-management related role roles and skills gaps
+ Partner with business and technology leaders to ensure the right audiences are targeted and enrolled in programs aligned to their roles and learning needs.
+ Instructional Design, Content Development & Program Delivery
+ Lead the end-to-end design and development of training programs, from design documents, outlines, and storyboards through final delivery.
+ Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the Enterprise Data Office and business units to design, develop, and maintain engaging learning assets across multiple modalities (e-learning modules, workshops, instructor-led sessions, videos, interactive workbooks, scenario-based simulations, etc.)
+ Translate complex data management topics into clear, accessible, and engaging training content
+ Standards, Governance & Quality
+ Formalize and standardize the end-to-end process for learning asset development across the EDO - including design documentation, outlines, storyboards, and review cycles to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across all training modalities (e-learning, instructor-led, and blended)
+ Establish and oversee instructional design process (ADDIE) and standards
+ Ensure content is consistent, scalable, and follows QA standards
+ Manage the administration and reporting of required and regulatory learning programs.
+ Measurement & Continuous Improvement
+ Use insights and feedback to refine learning experiences and ensure alignment with business objectives
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ 6 years of relevant experience related to instructional design frameworks (ADDIE) consistent with adult learning theories
+ Proven ability to translate complex and/or technical concepts into engaging and accessible training content for diverse audiences
+ Hands-on experience creating learning assets across modalities (e-learning, instructor-led sessions, videos, interactive workbooks, scenario-based simulations, etc.)
+ Proficiency in Articulate Storyline
+ Bachelor's degree.

**Brief Description of Duties:**
The Training Design and Coordinator is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of training programs that advance the University's strategic initiatives and ensure compliance with state, federal, and SUNY system requirements. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in reviewing and handling sensitive matters-including labor relations issues, student conduct information, and pending discrimination or harassment cases-to identify training needs and implement responsive, legally compliant training solutions. This role requires collaboration with senior administrators, legal counsel, and compliance offices to ensure training programs align with institutional priorities while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. Incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information in a concise and engaging manner online.
**Training Development & Instructional Design**
+ Design, develop, and maintain accessible, interactive online training content that incorporates multimedia resources.
+ Develop training materials on critical topics such as discrimination complaints, accommodation requests, sexual harassment prevention, sexual violence response, and diversity and inclusion. Ensure training is legally compliant, pedagogically sound, and reflective of current SUNY and University priorities.
**Needs Assessment & Strategic Planning**
+ Collaborate with the Training Manager to assess and anticipate training needs based on institutional initiatives, SUNY directives, and evolving legal requirements.
+ Review sensitive employee relations matters, grievance information, and student data to shape training priorities.
+ Contribute to long-term training strategies that promote compliance and organizational effectiveness.
**Collaboration & Consultation**
+ Partner with subject matter experts and campus stakeholders to ensure training content is accurate, current, and responsive to institutional needs.
+ Work closely with offices such as Employee and Labor Relations, Human Resources, Student Conduct, General Counsel, and Accessibility Support on pending ADA, Title VII, and Title IX matters to develop targeted training interventions.

**Research & Special Projects**
+ Conduct research on laws, regulations, and best practices related to Title IX, Title VII, ADA, and other compliance areas.

**Course Maintenance & Quality Assurance**

+ Maintain a calendar to ensure timely course updates, reminders, and compliance deadlines.
**Reporting & Records Management**
+ Track and maintain records of training participation, outcomes, and revisions.
+ Generate reports on training compliance, course effectiveness, and institutional training trends. Provide compliance data to supervisors regarding employees who are not meeting mandatory training requirements.
**Learning Management System (LMS) Administration**
+ Assist with the administration of the University's LMS, including uploading courses, troubleshooting access issues, and identifying system enhancements to improve learner experience.
