Job Description
The Senior Transmission Engineer will lead the design of complex transmission line projects. Responsibilities will include project technical oversight, providing technical expertise and leading technical design staff. This position will be a recognized industry leader in transmission line design and provide best practices for related projects.
+ Lead transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers including EFM, Conductor Sizing, Induction, Impedance, Losses and Voltage Drop design.
+ Prepare transmission equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
+ Lead economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance and grounding calculations/studies.
+ Lead calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes and resources. Lead in the communication of the interpretation and application of necessary NERC, FERC and regional requirements and standards.
+ Review transmission equipment vendor drawings; data interface with suppliers, clients other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.
+ Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change orders.
+ Applies expert knowledge of commonly used transmission concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the transmission engineering services industry.
+ Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions.
+ Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
+ Quality review the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of transmission systems.
+ Leads field inspections, installation, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
+ Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
+ Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
+ Participate sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
+ Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
+ Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance.
+ Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the transmission engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
+ Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
+ Or Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
+ Master of Science degree in Engineering a plus.
+ 7 years transmission engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
+ Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
+ Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of transmission design codes and computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, transmission analysis programs. This position offers an opportunity to develop hands-on expertise overhauling Navy Standard Transmissions (NSTs) and directly contribute to the readiness of UNREP systems. + Assist with UNREP equipment overhaul at the UNREP Test Site, including troubleshooting transmissions and other UNREP station equipment
+ Support the Transmission team and government leadership in collaboration with ship engineers to remotely troubleshoot NST issues
+ After one year of training and qualification, travel to ships to execute emergent NST maintenance requirements
+ Utilize wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions to complete electrical refurbishment requirement for NSTs

**Pay:** $24 / hr - $25 / hr depending on experience

- Have 3-5 yrs Mechanic experience (working with transmissions preferred)
- Are able to read blueprints
- Have valid Driver's License without restrictions
- Have some experience with EV / hybrid / high voltage

**Job Summary**
The Transmission Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the placement of overhead electrical cables to meet customer needs, ensuring crew safety, keeping track of employee hours, completing daily & weekly safety briefings/inspections, and calls in project utility locations. This position oversees the Line team and works with other personnel from various departments.
Responsibilities
+ Obtain all the necessary materials for the job, and ensure all permits and licenses are in place.
+ Oversee work related to each project and assume full responsibility for its quality and timeliness.
+ Compliance with proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to MasTec or the customer, whichever standard is higher.
+ Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections. Disseminates information and ensures understanding of safety briefings.
+ Perform aerial tasks, such as new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing. This is only allowed if no critical work is being performed that the Foreman is not needed as a Qualified observer.
+ Place overhead electrical cables.
+ Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
+ Coordinate and supervise daily tasks for crew members related to digging and placing product.
+ Perform construction work, such as digging holes, placing cable, air pipe, and inner duct work in various types of conduit systems and open excavations.
+ Climb utility poles and/or use aerial lift truck to place cables on poles per system design.
+ Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work.
+ Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma, or equivalent.
+ 6 years of experience.
+ 2 years of supervisory experience.
+ Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
**Preferred**
+ 8 or more years of experience, including extensive experience supervising and training skilled labor.
+ OSHA 20 Certification.
**Physical Demands and Work Environment**
This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
