**Job Description**
**AECOM** has a position available for a **Transmission Engineering Supervisor** with a specialization in utility transmission design.
**This position can be based out of any AECOM office located in Dallas, TX; Arlington, VA; Austin, TX; Baltimore, MD; Bloomfield, NJ; Burlington, NJ; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; Conshohocken, PA.**
**This position is hybrid.**
The focus of your experience must be in the power delivery industry and be associated with electrical engineering with respect to the design of utility scale transmission line development.
The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:
* Performs various responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
* Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
* Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.
* Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
* Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
* Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
* Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
* Supervises group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.

**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering or related degree and 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Active Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
+ Experience with PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 10+ years of experience in Power Transmission Design
+ Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)
+ Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry-relevant standards
+ Must be able to effectively supervise a team of Engineers & Engineering Technicians while maintaining work product quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability
+ Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground Transmission facilities and understanding of their integration into daily activities
+ Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded when it comes to planning and execution of projects being worked on by staff

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $150,000.00 - $90,000.00.

**Job Summary/Purpose**
This position is responsible for managing all transmission line maintenance and blanket capital activities within the transmission grid. This includes providing leadership to direct reports and company and/or contract crews ensuring they are aware of and maintain safe work practices and procedures at all times.
**Job Duties/Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for maintaining the safety culture for transmission line employees and contractors and ensuring a safe work environment exists for all assigned employees and contractors.
+ Manage individual contributors, supervisors, including coaching, training, employee development, and effective resource management. Manages contract personnel for transmission line maintenance and inspection contractors, promoting good employee relations, morale and teamwork.
+ Manage engineers that develop transmission line design packages, including calculations, drawings, standards, and engineering evaluations, for capital blanket projects.
+ Ensure work is performed in a team environment by interfacing with transmission engineering staff, transmission personnel, distribution personnel, generation plant personnel, major accounts representatives and other internal and external customers.
+ Engages with Customers, making them aware of work plans that may impact their business. Works with contractors to support various business needs.
+ Direct response personnel to address failures and emergency transmission outages. Ensure 24 hour coverage is maintained at all times. Direct root cause analysis and ensure the Consolidated Outage System (COS) is updated.
+ Assist Asset Management in development of the annual capital and O&M work plans. Manage the development and implementation of project schedules and ensure they are completed on time, within budget and as designed.
+ Manages the Helicopter and UAS programs for Louisiana
+ Supports the operations teams during Major and minor storms. Providing leadership and guidance on resource deployment and execution strategies.
+ Supports the engineering team with the development and approval of Risk Assessments.
**Minimum Requirements**

+ BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or equivalent work experience.

ABM 2025 Staff & Management Benefits Information ( facilities Mechanical Supervisor oversees the boiler and chiller operator team This role ensures compliant, continuous 24/7 operation of the Central Utility Plant's high-pressure steam boilers and chiller systems. The Facilities Mechanical Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact with the VA Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), managing staffing, scheduling, and performance to meet VA requirements. This position will supervise three dual-qualified operators unless scheduled to serve as an operator for a specific shift.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Staffing and Scheduling:
o Coordinate and assign 12-hour shifts (Shift A: 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM; Shift B: 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM) for three dual-qualified operators, following the rotation pattern (Sunday-Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday, alternating Wednesdays).
o Ensure continuous coverage of all assigned shifts, including during staff illness, absences, or emergencies.
o Provide emergency staffing response within 24 hours to maintain minimum staffing levels (two qualified operators on duty at all times).
- Liaison with VA:
o Serve as the primary point of contact with the VA COR for all operational and contractual matters.
o Communicate shift schedules, staffing updates, and operational issues promptly.
o Submit required documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance records, as prepared by operators.
- Performance Oversight
o Ensure operator compliance with VHA Directive 1810, OSHA standards, NFPA 85, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards.
o Monitor operator performance to meet VA standards, including zero tolerance for unattended high-pressure boilers and zero unplanned outages due to operator error. o Address and resolve staff issues, such as absences or performance deficiencies, to maintain operational continuity.
o Facilitate corrective actions for any identified deficiencies or safety violations.
- Operational Support (When Scheduled as Operator):
o If assigned to an operator shift, perform all duties outlined in the Boiler and Chiller Operator Job Description, including
Operating and monitoring Cleaver-Brooks boilers (10,000 lb/hr each) and Trane/York chillers (1,000-ton each).
o Conducting equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency response.
o Logging data per the 8th Edition of the BEI Safety Device Testing Manual and VA standards.
o Engaging with boiler plant components (DA tanks, condensate tanks, etc.) for monitoring and operator-level maintenance.
- Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure all contractor staff adhere to VA infection control, safety, and emergency response procedures.
o Verify that operators wear appropriate PPE, remain drug- and alcohol-free, and comply with the tobacco-free campus policy

+ Supervise all mechanical personnel and to assist and train as required. Manage the manpower to ensure adherence to schedule and the meeting of deadlines.
