Job Summary
The Transmission Electronic Technician fabricates, installs, maintains, troubleshoots, modifies, programs, routes, removes, controls, and repairs communication systems including, Transmission Systems.
This is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinate with other crafts to ensure job completeness and to assist with troubleshooting.
- Assess and restock inventory, refurbish telephones and peripherals, excess damaged or unrepairable property and perform inspections of equipment as necessary.
- Read and interpret work orders, drawings, schematics and notes.
- Using test equipment, manufacturer manuals, internal documentation, reference and operating procedures and schematics, troubleshoot and isolate problems at the Line Replacement Unit (LRU) or component level.
- Fabrication, installation, problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of telecommunication systems and equipment.
- Process support request requirements for Paging and Operational Intercommunication System (OIS) including cable and equipment fabrication. Including the installation and repair of headsets, cable fabrication and connector potting.
- Perform software upgrades on sustaining systems.
- Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot transmission systems used to transmit analog or digital data signals over copper wire, optical fiber, Ethernet or other transmission medium.
- Provide, update, and maintain all required documentation, reports, and logs etc., manually or in electronic databases.
- Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity.
- Adhere to OSHA, NASA, Company, and customer safety requirements.
- May assist in training others.
Requirements
Required Minimum Education:
- Associate of Science*or Technical Trade School* in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related field
*Experience may be substituted for Education: 1.5 years related experience is equivalent to 1 year of formal education
Required Years of Experience:
- Six (6) years related experience or successful completion of a State or Military approved bona fide work related apprenticeship program recognized by the US Department of of Labor.
Required Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.:
- This position is "journey-level," meaning workers can start and finish a wide range of cable and wire activities independently.
- Employees working at this level typically require an understanding of electrical theory, exercising independent judgment in performing circuit diagnostics analysis.
- Workers must be able to read and have a comprehensive understanding of electronic schematics.
- Must be a U.S. with ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
- Must be able to pass an initial and random drug testing.
- Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements
- Requires working indoors and outdoors.
- Outdoor conditions may be in cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, and windy conditions.
- Certain job assignments require special precautions and/or protective gear or clothing due to potential risk for such sources as moving machinery, chemicals, and electrical hazards, working from special rigging, working from heights, climbing ladders and other work platforms and working in confined and small spaces restricting physical movement.
- Often requires lifting up to 35 - 50 pounds and working on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods.

**_Regulatory & Legislative Integrity:_**
_- Lead the validation of operational good quality PMU data stream to RTO's, ensuring 95% uptime of all PMU's to the RTO's are met per compliance guidelines._
_- Actively monitor PMU infrastructure for stale, erroneous, or incomplete data to ensure compliance with PRC-002, MOD33 and ERCOT NODEL requirements._
**_Operational Excellence:_**
_- Lead the PSO/SWEPCO Asset Health monitoring projects for EHV transformers and CB's_
_- Lead the remote enabling of PMU's across the AEP footprint to support the ELSE effort to have complete visibility across the AEP footprint._
_- Actively monitor PMU infrastructure for stale, erroneous, or incomplete data, remotely address issues when possible_
**_Customer Service:_**
_- Lead data cleanup efforts supporting AHC PI, Provide relevant data to stakeholders to support condition-based maintenance and capital replacement initiatives, leveraging Asset Performance Management software, Station PI, IPS, and other data repositories._
_Summarize and report on the energization, condition, and health of critical assets to stakeholders._

_- Review PSO/SWEPCO substation assets within the 5-year warranty period and address issues with vendors remotely to ensure optimal and reliable asset performance. Utilize the APM application to monitor long-term health trends of these assets._
**_Environmental Respect:_**
_- Proactively lead data analysis related to the health and alarm monitoring of PSO/SWEPCO substation transformers and reactors to help prevent catastrophic failures._
_Contribute to the ongoing daily support of the Monitoring Analysis Response Center to ensure effective operations._

THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a _Wireless Communication Systems Enginee_ _r_ who will report to the _R&D Director, Communications Systems_ on the _Research & Development (R&D)_ team. The successful individual in this role will participate in all phases of wireless technology projects including planning, design, implementation, prototyping, verification, and validation.
The location for this role is at Silvus Technologies' Engineering and R&D Office in **Irvine, CA** , near the vibrant Irvine Spectrum. The position is on a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of 4 days/week on-site (with the occasional drive to the LA HQ as needed). On-site days are Monday through Thursday.
The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ System design and requirement specification.
+ Algorithmic development, simulation, implementation, and testing.
+ System performance simulation, benchmarking, and testing.
+ Fixed point modeling and FPGA design and verification support.
+ Support FPGA and Software development teams for hardware/software implementation and troubleshooting.
+ Lead a team of multi-disciplinary engineers for product and feature development as needed.
+ Setting, tracking, and driving development schedules and tasks.
+ Design and participate in lab and field testing and troubleshooting.
+ Technical material preparation and documentation.
+ Participate in R&D business development and capture efforts as needed.
+ Understand current products and technologies and brainstorm with other teams for future enhancements and strategies.
+ Infrequent travel to support customer interactions or test and demonstration events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ MS. degree or Ph.D. degree in the field of wireless communications and signal processing, electrical engineering, computer engineering, systems engineering, or relevant engineering fields.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and development of wireless systems.
+ Participation in the complete wireless technology development cycle: from design to field testing.
+ Demonstrated knowledge and experience in RF propagation and channel modeling,
+ Comprehensive expertise in all parts of digital communication systems such as RF subsystems, synchronizations, channel estimation, channel coding, etc.
+ Extensive knowledge and expertise in signal processing algorithms, MIMO, OFDM, etc.
+ Strong understanding of modeling and mitigating RF impairments to signals such as AGC, phase noise, frequency/clock offset, etc.
+ Experience with fixed point modeling, implementation, and verification.
+ Expert in MATLAB programming and simulation.
