Supply Chain Transportation Internship- Summer 2026
Hy-Vee, Inc. is a progressive company focused on retail. To support retail we must continuously review our supply chain practices to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible while maintaining excellent customer service to our stores and ultimately our customers. We have openings for interns to assist Hy-Vee Inc. in transportation operations. The positions will be located in either Chariton, IA or Ankeny IA. The timeframe is approximately May 18th to August 14th, 2026. This Monday through Friday opportunity will be 40 hours per week. This internship is part of the Hy-Vee Supply Chain Internship program, which includes tours of Hy-Vee’s facilities, organized networking opportunities, and a final presentation to Hy-Vee Supply Chain leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will work with management and company employees to learn daily processes within Hy-Vee’s supply chain.

Responsibilities will be similar to what is expected of an entry-level supply chain professional.

Complete project work involving reviewing large sets of data and proposal of any changes needed to improve operations.

The position will include learning daily processes needed to successfully service customers with the expectation of contributing new ideas in the form of a final presentation or paper at the conclusion of the internship.

**Responsibilities**

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Seven or more years of experience in supply chain analysis and solutions including material availability and logistics
+ Possess a valid Class C Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in transportation specifically with coordination of transporting oversized and overweight machinery or construction equipment (i.e., over 65,000 pounds)
+ Utility industry experience
+ Demonstrated experience with the project management and/or adjusting the cost, scope, and resources, managing suppliers, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance

**What you'll be doing:**
+ Execute and drive demand planning and fulfillment strategy and Supply chain best practices for B2B and B2C businesses.
+ Identify opportunities, develop, and implement new processes to better support and evolve how we manage inventory, optimizing product flow to increase turns, service, and overall support the business strategy.
+ Partner with the various channels to build a collaborative planning, forecasting and fulfillment process while dynamically contributing to business planning.
+ Manage and review channel inventory KPI's on a frequent basis and discuss the results with the cross functional team(s), highlighting inventory management opportunities.
+ Drive continuous improvement in demand forecasts while evaluating and evolving predictive models.
+ Play an integral role to support the shift from fixed order point replenishment to demand driven fulfillment.

+ Partner with vendors on outstanding purchase orders and general KPI's to ensure flow of merchandise/supply chain is in place.

+ Advance the analytical capabilities on the team to move to a data driven organization that will improve our financial results and allow for scalable and predictive solutions.
