Titan America has an immediate opening for a Transportation Supervisor in the Deerfield Beach, FL office. This position will report to the Transportation Manager. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction during order taking, dispatching, scheduling of drivers and deliveries, delivery efficiency monitoring, and inter-departmental communications.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Supervises a team of Freight Audit Specialists who are responsible for auditing freight invoices. Experience with change management and leads by example.
  • Provide continuous feedback to a diverse team.
  • Supervises tasks such as personnel onboarding, weekly SOX rate validation report and assigns workload to the team based upon hauler past dues.
  • Proven ability to multi-task to complete multiple project deadlines. Actively work with the Transportation Manager on continuous improvement projects aimed at deceasing costs and increasing productivity.
  • Creates and documents standard operating procedures as well as provides recommendations for improving functions that will improve day-to-day work.
  • Experience with understanding rate structures, how to negotiate rates along with auditing invoices to ensure carriers are paid in a timely manner.
  • Must be comfortable with working in excel, presenting information to a diverse audience and extensive knowledge working with ERPs.
  • Collects hauler aging's and reports accruals to the Finance/Accounting Department.
  • Responds to emergencies including after-hours support.
  • Resolves invoice disputes with haulers in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with AP, Block, Replenishment, and other departments to resolve issues in a timely manner.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher or similar experience with freight auditing.
  • 3 to 5 years of logistics experience is a must.
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Experience with ERPs (Oracle, SAP, etch), Microsoft Office, and KPIs visualization (Tableau, Microsoft BI).

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an Operations position responsible for supervising the activities associated with Delivery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, management and direction to delivery staff, compliance with government regulations and safety and security of the delivery department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the daily work and safety of Delivery Associates, including adherence to standard operating procedures, adherence to planned routes, and providing safe and efficient customer service.

  • Communicates with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to collaboratively resolve any customer or delivery opportunities or issues. Visits customer locations and meets with customers to address issues and assess delivery difficulty.
  • Maintains associate relations through regular department or pre- shift meetings; maintains on-going interaction; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale; and submits and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.
  • Interprets trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates efforts with Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes, and routine safety inspections. Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
  • Performs management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.
  • Performs the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed (and as qualified).

Education and / or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Two or Four year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for Supervising delivery activity and dispatching of personnel, equipment, and services in a professional, safe, and efficient manner achieving the highest levels of driver safety and productivity, equipment utilization, and customer service, while in accordance with all policies, laws, and regulations.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise, train, and retain an adequate pool of professional drivers ensuring compliance with all safety and Hours-of-Service rules.
  • Continuously review and analyze all routes, making recommendations to the Transportation Manager for all changes that will achieve reduced delivery miles / hours and result in increased equipment utilization and lower per-mile costs.
  • Assist in conducting evaluations and appraise performance, ensuring all drivers are providing excellent customer care, working, and driving safely, conduct timely, proper, and required equipment inspections, properly and accurately completing all delivery documentation.
  • Dispatches, directs, plans, and coordinates daily operational activities of the department. Ensuring proper, best utilization of rolling-stock, workforce, and equipment, and that all routes depart on time. May be required to cover routes when needed.
  • Helps develop all drivers providing "The Delivery Experience" with adequate product knowledge and customer etiquette.
  • Maintain safety and sanitation standards for all vehicles daily by ensuring that there is a complete checklist and that all Drivers perform the DVIR checklist in its entirety.
  • Actively participates in drivers' meetings, at least quarterly, helping to relay all necessary information to and from drivers.
  • Monitor safety compliance to ensure health and safety of drivers and compliance with company and all governing and government agencies' regulations.
  • Complies with all safety procedures and policies. Maintaining a safe environment for all department functions as measured through safety record, accident-free days, lost time days, and total dollars spent.
  • Works with Transportation Manager to monitor drivers' productivity goals and performance. Coach drivers whose performance level falls below expectations.
  • Responsible for working with Transportation Manager and Human Resources in handling all team member issues/challenges, including coaching, feedback, and disciplinary actions, using detailed oral and written communications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • DOT knowledge required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate ideas, problems, or conflicts to a satisfactory resolution / implementation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Skills in supervision, planning, coordination, and human relations.
  • Personal computer experience, including Microsoft Office Products.

You Will

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage transportation movements between the facility and airfield according to requirements of the customer and operational needs.
  • Ensure all catering is transported with adherence to all SOPs, safety guidelines and internal quality assurance programs.
  • Manage a small group of dispatchers who are responsible for coordinating the movements of all trucks, checking, verifying, and advising of latest timings, delays and special operations notices.
  • Maintain a fleet of catering trucks and vehicles for performance, appearance, and operational readiness.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures quality production standards are maintained for all accounts
• Responsible for obtaining control sheets and making assignments for team drivers to flights daily
• Checks dock area to ensure that employees have required equipment and that trucks leave according to scheduled dock departure
• Checks that all teams are catering correct aircraft and flights
• Ensures that all employees are in compliance with safety procedures and Airport Transport Authority badging requirements
• Works with management staff to improve performance of the unit
• Assists teams with late flights and equipment changes
• Responsible for getting information from airlines on service requirements and updates
• Maintains radio contact with Operations Manager, meal planer and leads during operation
• Conducts regular checks of the kitchen to ensure no equipment was left behind after flights leave the kitchen
• Responsible for security and proper transportation of galleys and maintaining cleanliness of vehicles
• Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
• Ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards are accurate according to the airline specifications.
• Ensures that all products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures.
• Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and fleet according to schedules, reports maintenance and repair issues in timely manner.
• Maintains Company policies and procedures as well as specification books for airline customers
• Maintains all financial goals related to material, productivity, overtime, and labor goals
• Prepares management reports (ex. attendance, HAACCP and labor) as required.
• Responsible for supervising drivers and driver assistants
• Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions.
• Manages work flow balancing - - the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.
• Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.
• Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (ex. sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.)
• In conjunction with department leaders determines number of employees needed by shift
• Ensures compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including ensuring employees get the rest & meal breaks and ensuring company processes are followed.
• Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses.
• Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees.
• Responsible for employee retention and reducing employee turnover.
• Responsible for coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions for employees in compliance with the applicable union/collective bargaining agreement(s).
• Reviews and ensures employees in chain of command are in correct cost centers and correct job titles.
• Reviews and ensures union represented employees' pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority.
• (note: this should only apply to OP73 and OP78) Ensures employees complete all company required training including but not limited to ServSafe
• Compliance with all company required policies, procedures and processes including but not limited to required training

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree preferred. Work Experience:
• 2+ years supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, and restaurant or catering environment or equivalent experience in the related field preferred

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

• Must have strong and effective leadership skills, and the ability to successfully manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees.
• Current or previous labor relations experience is a plus, but not required.
• Candidate must be comfortable with all levels of employees and have the ability to drive positive program change.
• Ability to train others required.
• Must have the ability to give negative and positive feedback to employees on a daily basis.
• Excellent time management skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills required.
• Must be innovative and have the ability to make changes to the operation as needed to further improve the work environment and unit performance.
• Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
• Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification required.

About the Role

Essity is looking for an experienced Transportation Supervisor (Lead for Central Planning Team known as "Smart Hub"). The key purpose of the role is to organize and manage transport planning and outsourced warehousing, meeting service level agreements and main KPIs. The role supervises a team of transportation professionals, overseeing the day-to-day execution of load planning and some outsourced WH operations for North American manufacturing sites. Ensuring planning best practices are achieved to deliver efficient, reliable, cost effective, transportation solutions for Essity customers and stakeholders.

This role will be based in our Service Excellence Center in Appleton, WI.

What You Will Do
  • Coordinate Smart Hub (Central Transport Planning Team) resources and workloads
  • Lead Smart Hub for transport planning and execution to deliver service level agreement
  • Proactive advise about improvements on transport planning scope for the region, i.e. exclusion of lanes, simulation of new scenarios, optimization projects
  • Manage relationship with different stakeholders, Customer Service, Logistics, RDM, Transport Coordinator, Transportation Manager, etc.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for operational issues and escalate if required
  • Create a seamless and satisfying internal and external customer experience for all interactions with the Smart Hub
  • Review key reports to identify and act on performance trends and provide input to RDM and Transportation Manager
  • Total employment responsibility: planning-team: initial scope 1 person, with some growth likely
Who You Are
  • 3+ years experience in Transport Planning and Execution, and Managed Service management;
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred but not required;
  • Diverse Professional Transportation knowledge and Supply Chain Management skills;
  • Strong analytical and business oriented;
  • Negotiation and interpersonal skills, for people management and workforce organization;
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines and multi-task daily activities;
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with SAP and/or other Transportation Management Systems.
