The job of Transportation Support Personnel (JC824) is done for the purpose/s of assisting special education students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; transporting students in district Multi Passenger Vehicle (MPV), as needed; and ensuring the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles.

This job reports to Assistant Director-Transportation
Essential Functions
  • Administers first aid and medications, as needed, for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
  • Assesses potential emergency situations on the bus/MPV and within loading and unloading zones for the purpose of taking appropriate action to protect the well-being of passengers.
  • Assists students for the purpose of providing for special needs during transport, safe loading and unloading from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport.
  • Attends meetings (e.g. classroom and behind-the-wheel training, in-service, safety, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information to perform job functions.
  • Drives district MPV, as needed for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe, efficient, and on- schedule manner.
  • Instructs students (e.g. providing necessary guidance regarding rules and regulations, emergency processes, safety measures, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining safety.
  • Maintains strict (or complete) confidentiality on personnel and student issues (e.g. personnel records, medical records, surveillance videos and images, student data, confidential communication, etc.) for the purpose of protecting personal information for staff and students.
  • Maintains cleanliness of bus/MPV (e.g. cleaning windshields, mirrors, interior/exterior of bus/MPV, picking up debris, sweeping floor, wiping upholstery, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicle.
  • Monitors students (e.g. assessing issues, disagreements, student distress, etc.) for the purpose of preventing distraction to the driver or injury to themselves or other students/passengers.
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior conditions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the MPV vehicle and complying with mandated guidelines.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. incident reports, passenger misconduct, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.
  • Responds to inquiries (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
  • Secures students and/or equipment (e.g. restraints, tie-downs, wheelchairs, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

Main focus on administration and branch support, but will also assist in monitoring all carriers and ad hoc activity for on-time departures, load tracking in transit, and timely arrivals. This person may arrange contingencies when needed and communicates delays and issues between branches, gateways, and carriers. GNS Transportation Planner should be detail oriented, curious, and flexible to identify and solve issues quickly and accurately. The Transportation Planner will have regular and consistent communication with the Expeditors Network, the GNS Network (central and regional hubs) and Service Providers.
Schedule - Thursday - Sunday (4x10 hours)
1300-2400 (Th/Fri)
0900-2000 (Sat/Sun)
Operation:
+ Tracking all routes in transit and identifying pending or potential delays.
+ Work with carriers to ensure all planned routes have equipment assigned.
+ Coordinate with Expeditors branch offices to maximize the utilization of all available capacity
+ Monitoring daily lane volumes to identify need for additional capacity.
+ Identifying the need of and arranging additional capacity for demand and/or service recovery as needed.
+ Working with branch, gateways, and carriers to enact contingencies as deemed necessary.
Administrative:
+ Proactive and timely notification of all delays to branches (Exception Management)
+ Monitoring consolidations to identify mis-routes and incomplete or inaccurate data.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
+ Ability to work in the Expeditors' Scottsdale office
+ Basic Microsoft Office knowledge
+ Fluency in written and spoken English language
Desired Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of logistics experience
+ Customer Service and/or Sales Experience
+ Procurement Experience
+ Intermediate Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Power Bi
+ Leadership Experience
