The X-Ray Technician is a trained medical professional performing radiological duties in compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements. The duties of the X-ray Technician vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. The X-ray Technician will perform radiographic exams, ordered by the physician, that are technically satisfactory, properly positioned and processed adequately. All exams must be performed using the ALARA principle to minimize radiation dose to the patient.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Positions patient under X-ray machine, adjusts immobilization devices, and provides appropriate radiation protection; adjusts switches regulating length and intensity of exposure
+ Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians including procedures, EKG's, phlebotomy and injections.
+ Prepares reports and maintains records of services rendered; maintains radiological film files and storage, pulls X-rays as required for referrals and/or copying; keeps logs for x-rays sent out for referrals. Keeps an updated log that consolidates X-rays performed against reports received.
+ Maintains supplies, equipment, practices OSHA safety standards, performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
+ Must have excellent oral written and communication skills and empathy towards our patients at all times.
+ Ability to effectively collaborate with team members, including doctors, nurses, front desk staff, center managers and market leaders.
+ Mindset focused on solving problems for patients and achieving team goals. Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies and procedures.
+ Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems.
+ Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data.

+ This position may require some local travel as it may be assigned to cover multiple centers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
+ Graduate from an accredited program for Radiological Technology or Basic X-Ray Machine Operator required
+ Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
+ A minimum of 1 year x-ray technologist work experience in a healthcare environment required; 2 years is preferred
+ Licensed and/or certified if required by state regulations
+ EMR system experience is preferred
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required w/in first 90 days of employment

Our **Mammographer** performs screening and diagnostic mammography exams utilizing advanced 2D/3D equipment with thorough patient history/information collected, to provide interpreting Radiologist an accurate clinical history of patient signs and symptoms.

The University of Miami Department of Radiology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Mammography Technologist Level I to work at Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami. The incumbent is responsible for performing complex procedures in Mammography through the operations of radiographic equipment to obtain highest quality of diagnostic images with the least amount of radiation exposure. Independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative are essential in addition to responsibility for designated areas, procedures and equipment.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Obtains and examines the order for a Mammography scan to be aware of information such as procedures requested, patient’s condition and any other special notes or comments.
Ensures that orders are appropriate to the type of exam recommended by physician. Notifies supervisor of any discrepancies and/or contacts physician’s office for correct orders if necessary.
Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Verify the patient’s ID by checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical record and patient’s wristband.
Always obtain necessary consents and education.
Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Mammography scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice.
Ability to integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary. Adheres to Mammography protocols to maintain high quality standards.
Consistently demonstrates complete competence in performing Mammography scans as ordered.
As required during a procedure, assists positioning patients in required anatomical position for display of body for Mammography scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
Maintain proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines (hand washing, gloves, gown, mask, eye protection and equipment disinfection).
Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
Assist radiologist with interventional Mammography procedures.
Loads and operates power injectors for contrast media administration.
Evaluate Mammography scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to PACS.
Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.
Maintain accurate patient records.
Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
Applies physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to their documented physical/development requirement by competency validation checklist:
Children
Adolescents
Adults
Geriatric
Challenged/Disabled
Performs basic nursing functions in the patient’s care i.e., assists with bedpans, emesis basins, etc. Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during scanning procedures; initiates life support measures for patients if necessary; assists in “Code Blue” procedure during medical emergencies. Keeps work area in a clean and sanitary condition and stocks exam/dressing rooms with required supplies.
Reports unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate Radiologist/Supervisory personnel.

Provide assistance with orientation and training of new Mammography technologists.
Provides education and training to student technologists.
Abide by hospital/department HR policies.
Adheres to any regulatory body guidelines governing modality including but not limited to: Joint Commission, AHCA, ACR, FL DOH and FDA/MQSA.

The Level III technologist will execute all duties of level I and II while demonstrating independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative are essential in addition to responsibility for designated areas, procedures, and equipment. He/she will serve as a unit lead technologist by assisting other radiologic technologists, ensuring quality, and resolving situations as they arise.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate/manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
Supervises as well as performs diagnostic imaging studies under the direction/supervision of a radiologist.
Assist with the education and training of new physicians.
Assist radiologists and PhD's in developing new protocols and imaging techniques that are unique to the facility.
Participate in research initiatives and development of research protocols.
Act in a team leader capacity on a routine basis.
Monitor charging of procedures and supplies daily to ensure correctness.
Demonstrate equipment for 'site visits' for visiting physicians and administrators.

Ensures that information used to calculate provider compensation is accurate and contains all relevant modifications and that any value-based metrics are updated and processed in a timely manner.
Leads efforts on design, gathering stakeholder input, and implementation of faculty effort reporting and monitoring solutions across all missions of the enterprise, including Research, Clinical and Teaching Efforts for greater than 1,800 faculty.
Oversees ongoing faculty effort and reporting solutions and process; creates training and educational materials, provides data governance and integrity, and collaborates with Missions and Central departments on specific business and reporting needs.
Oversees financial monitoring and reconciliation of faculty effort in relation to actual cost distribution and labor allocations.
Oversees, performs, and coordinates new practices, clinics, and service line startups with respect to provider compensation.
Develops a transparent and effective funds flow model to ensure that resource allocations are closely aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
Assesses and analyzes the existing flow of funds from the clinical enterprise to the medical school to identify opportunities for improvement, simplification, and rationalization for the planning of the new model.
Partners with the CFO to establish a governance committee to oversee and maintain the integrity of the funds flow process.
Participates in developing the annual operating budget for provider compensation and patient volumes and integrating the funds flow model with the annual budgeting process.
Supervises staff and oversees the administration of the provider compensation plan and funds flow model, ensuring the accuracy of all data used for physician compensation and resource allocations for funds flow.
Works with medical school and health system leadership, human resources, and physician leadership to develop physician salary offers.
