Job Description:
- Operates radiographic equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body, under the supervision of the Chief Technologist and/or Radiologist.
- Evaluates imaging requisitions and confirms requisition with doctor's order in patient chart.
- Checks patient's identify, as outlined by department manual, and instructs patient as to the procedure being performed to obtain their cooperation.
- Demonstrates proficiency in conducting radiological exams by producing radiographs of good technical quality.
- Ability to prioritize and identify those imaging requests, which require immediate response in the absence of the Chief Technologist.
- Produces x-ray films.
- Prepares and maintains records and files.
Requirements/Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Formal Radiological Technology training from an accredited school.
- Previous experience as a Radiological Technologist preferred.
- Previous experience with PACS, RIS, EMR, CR,OR,ER,DRX, CT and Meditech preferred.
- A valid NYS Radiological Technologist license required.
- Registered through A.R.R.T. with (CT) certification.
- DOH license injection privileges preferred.

- 1. Operates specialized radiographic equipment for technique selection, filming, and processing of specialized radiographic images.
- 1.1 Operates all special procedure equipment and angiographic injectors and associated patient monitoring equipment in accordance with manufacturers instructions as observed by supervisor.

LICENSURE

Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality radiographic images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. To meet the staffing needs of the department, as necessary, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations, regardless of your regularly assigned work location.

Responsibilities
- 1. Performs quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations, utilizing appropriate protocols and age specific standards.
- 1.1 Verifies physician-s order on requisitions 100% of the time.
- 2. Operates radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results.
- 2.1 Conducts daily inspection of radiographic equipment to ensure proper performance and image quality.
- 3. Prepares examination room to ensure a clean and safe environment with adequate supplies to assure efficient and accurate performance of exams.
- 3.1 Replaces any used supplies immediately after patient is dismissed
- 4. Performs quality and compassionate patient care, utilizing appropriate age specific standards, to ensure patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
- 4.1 Thoroughly explains the procedure to ensure patient physical and emotional comfort
- 5. Performs various record keeping, customer service functions, and communicates feedback to ensure the goals of the department are met and operations run efficiently.
- 5.1 Accurately edits and completes all examinations in Imagecast to ensure proper medical record documentation and billing.
- 6. Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.

- 7. To enhance the patient experience in Diagnostic radiology all staff will be responsible to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department on the Test & Treatment section of our Press Ganey Survey.
- 7.1 1. Staff will present themselves in a friendly and courteous manner; Staff will identify themselves and their role while encouraging a Patient and Family Center experience. 1.2 Staff will fully explain procedure and ask if the patient has any additional questions about the procedure. 1.3 Staff will address any comfort issues a patient may have prior to starting procedure. 1.4 Staff will thank patient once procedure is completed and ask the patient if they have any additional questions. 1.5 Staff must meet the above goals and fiscal year threshold value, which was last fiscal year actual for a 2 rating on review. 2. Staff must meet the above goals and exceed fiscal year threshold value by +.2 for a 3 rating on review. 3. Staff must meet the above goals and exceed fiscal year threshold value by +.4 for a 4 rating on review.
EDUCATION
Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program. AS degree preferred but not required with relevant years of experience.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine radiography. RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Connecticut State License, and CPR Certification.
LICENSURE
All certifications for American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Connecticut State License, and CPR Certification must be kept current at all times.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Proficient in routine Radiography CR/Digital imaging techniques, above average knowledge of computer / Pacs applications, and good organizational and communication/customer service skills.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.

EDUCATION
Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. Graduation from an ARRT approved program in radiologic technology.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) To Two (2) Years Experience In Ct Department Preferred. Previous Radiographic Experience Required.
LICENSURE
Must hold a current Connecticut State license in Radiographer. BLS Required.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Must be ARRT (R) and (CT) Registered with the exception of applicants in the cross-training program who would have 10 months after the completion of the cross-training program to obtain their advanced CT Registry.
