The X-Ray Technician is a trained medical professional performing radiological duties in compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements. The duties of the X-ray Technician vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. The X-ray Technician will perform radiographic exams, ordered by the physician, that are technically satisfactory, properly positioned and processed adequately. All exams must be performed using the ALARA principle to minimize radiation dose to the patient.
**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Positions patient under X-ray machine, adjusts immobilization devices, and provides appropriate radiation protection; adjusts switches regulating length and intensity of exposure
+ Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians including procedures, EKG's, phlebotomy and injections.
+ Prepares reports and maintains records of services rendered; maintains radiological film files and storage, pulls X-rays as required for referrals and/or copying; keeps logs for x-rays sent out for referrals. Keeps an updated log that consolidates X-rays performed against reports received.
+ Maintains supplies, equipment, practices OSHA safety standards, performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:**
+ Must have excellent oral written and communication skills and empathy towards our patients at all times.
+ Ability to effectively collaborate with team members, including doctors, nurses, front desk staff, center managers and market leaders.
+ Mindset focused on solving problems for patients and achieving team goals. Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies and procedures.
+ Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems.
+ Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
+ Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
+ Ability to act calmly in busy or stressful situations.
+ This position may require some local travel as it may be assigned to cover multiple centers.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:**
+ Graduate from an accredited program for Radiological Technology or Basic X-Ray Machine Operator required
+ Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
+ A minimum of 1 year x-ray technologist work experience in a healthcare environment required; 2 years is preferred
+ Licensed and/or certified if required by state regulations
+ EMR system experience is preferred
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required w/in first 90 days of employment
**PAY RANGE:**
$23.3 - $33.25 Hourly

Your Impactful Role
- Perform patient x-ray exams by following the principles of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)
- Functions as C/Arm technologist for physiatrists prior to treatment, during treatment, and after treatment.
- Assist with transporting patients to and from OR/Pain Suites

- Assist clinical staff as needed when applicable.
- Serves as trainer to nurses and CST/OR Techs regarding pain procedures
- Updates preference cards for physiatrists
- Only tech to assist with Radiofrequency ablations, Discograms, Idet, Decompressors or Trial Stimulators
- Radiation safety monitor for POSC-Perimeter
- Performs monthly visual checks on x-ray gowns for defects
- Performs 6 month exam of x-ray gowns under fluoroscopy to check for defects
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitors supplies needed for pain procedures, restocks carts
- Tracks pain patient data

The X Ray Limited Scope & Medical Support Specialist performs routine x-ray, medical, and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as needed including registration and referral management. Responsibilities
X-ray Technician Duties
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed. Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during the x-ray exam
- Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members
- Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to Center Operations Director
- Ensure all Radiology workflows are followed and all Radiology reports cross correctly to EMR Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient x-ray visit.
- Maintain all x-ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures, and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Medical Support Specialist Duties
- Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing
- Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
- Assist providers during examination and treatment
- Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed
- Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care
- Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
- Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center
- Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
- Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
- Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected
- In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume
- Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit
- Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping
- Ensure accuracy in documentation
- Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
- Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required
- Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility
- Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly.

- Logs procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Develops and processes images to film and CD burner. Proficient in sending studies to Radiologist and archival system.
- Maintains and cleans exam rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Processes diagnostic imaging procedures and records history forms when necessary.
- Requests and coordinates all necessary patient information including charting and charge slips.
- Performs QA procedures on the equipment on a routine schedule to maintain requirements for ODH and ACR accreditation.
- Responsible for maintaining medical inventory and reporting orders as needed.
- Copies records when requested with proper authority.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed (Competencies, Education):
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification
- Current Ohio License
- Current CPR certification
- Required to maintain CE requirements
- Graduate of accredited X-ray Program.
- Minimum of two years' experience in respective area required
- Knowledge of procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to equipment.
- Knowledge of printing exams to CD/film
- Working knowledge of PACS system and CD burner
- Knowledge of sending and storing images.
- Skill in positioning patients properly.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, Physicians, patients, and families.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Combination of office and exam setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a radiology department. DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
Perform a wide variety of technical procedures, requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Requires initiative to apply appropriate skills to facilitate a diagnosis. May be assigned independent responsibilities by Administrative Director, or Operations Manager. Proper care of the client in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures is required. May be responsible for assigned areas to assume responsibilities of supervision or instruction to department personnel as determined by Operations Manager. Practices infection control and body substance isolation in clinical practice in compliance with departmental and hospital policies and OSHA standards. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates proper operation of PACS, HIS and RIS computer systems. Demonstrates ability to operate and trouble shoot CR, DR and PACs applications. Attends annual mandatory education to include blood borne pathogens, infection control, and body substance isolation. Maintains department competencies as required
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
- Minimum of Student Training.
Education and Training:
Must have completed formal AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.

Other Requirements:
