Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills. Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Document findings of patient progress. Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed. Seek consultation as necessary.
• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (OTR) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Drivers License preferred.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

• One year of recent experience as Occupational Therapist strongly preferred.

Under the direction of a physician, the Occupational Therapist will plan, evaluate, and implement both individual and group therapy programs designed to help patients regain independence, enhance functional abilities, and improve overall quality of life.

Essential Responsibilities

• Interpret physician referrals and select appropriate standardized evaluation procedures
• Conduct patient assessments in the following areas:
• Independent living skills
• Occupational performance
• Work adjustment and vocational readiness
• Educational skills
• Play and leisure abilities
• Social and psychosocial skills
• Analyze evaluation data and design individualized treatment plans with measurable short- and long-term goals
• Implement therapeutic interventions, including the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices
• Educate patients and families regarding therapy goals, progress, and home therapy programs
• Assist with discharge planning, including equipment ordering and patient/family training for continued care
• Supervise occupational therapy students as assigned
• Perform additional duties as required

Required Skills & Experience

• Current license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapist
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (must be obtained prior to hire)
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, practices, and equipment
• Ability to organize, plan, and lead therapy activities effectively
• Skilled in interpreting physician prescriptions and translating them into effective therapy interventions
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare staff
• Ability to provide clear technical and therapeutic instructions to patients
• Basic computer literacy for documentation and patient records
