Job Description
Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Senior Trial Preparation Assistant will be responsible for providing support services to attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs/APS LPCU.
- Drafts pleadings or other legal documents based on computer generated templates.
- Responds to inquiries from in-house and outside counsel, program staff, vendors, and various parties involved in legal proceedings.
- Files papers in court or retrieves copies of court papers.
- Reviews and processes subpoenas, affidavits, notices, and court orders for an attorney's approval, and conducts simple legal research.
- Collects, assembles, and reviews routine data, opening and maintaining legal files, to generate legal documents and maintain legal files and tracking logs.
- Prepares weekly and monthly statistical reports relating to individual and groups of cases in various stages of the litigation process.
Work Location: 4 World Trade Center, 150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007
Hours/Schedule: Monday to Friday 9am 5 pm with one-hour flex
Qualifications1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or
2. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and two years of full-time satisfactory experience, acquired in the United States, in the performance of paralegal (legal assistant) services; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of full-time satisfactory experience, acquired in the United States, in the performance of paralegal (legal assistant) services; or
4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. Paralegal Certification obtained in the United States from an accredited program or from a program approved by the American Bar Association can be substituted for 12 months of experience. Undergraduate credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 12 months of experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization. To be acceptable, experience in paralegal (legal assistant) services must have involved the American Legal System. Experience which is primarily legal secretarial or includes only incidental paralegal (legal assistant) services is not acceptable. Special Note: Individuals must have one additional year of pertinent paralegal experience or have a baccalaureate degree in addition to the requirements listed above to be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II duties and pay of Paralegal Aide.

What You Drive at DTNA
- Manage and organize new matter intake for a high-volume litigation docket.
- Handle new vendor onboarding and processing of invoices and expenses.
- Maintain litigation group's document database, including adding new matters, updating existing matters, and creating and running reports.

The Opportunity:
This position is located in the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, Criminal Division and supports the Market Integrity Major Fraud Unit. As a Litigation Support Analyst, you will work closely with trial attorneys in fast-paced setting to assist with investigation and prosecution of fraud including in courtroom support. It is an ideal opportunity for individuals beginning a career in the legal field.
Responsibilities:

Perform legal and administrative duties requested by attorneys
-
Utilize eDiscovery platforms to perform document review, communicating summaries and analysis of findings

Organize and prioritize numerous tasks effectively and completes tasks under strict time constraints
-
Work on multiple cases simultaneously and multi -task with minimal supervision
-
Travel to site for hearings, discovery and trials and operate electronic courtroom aid during trial to assist in presentation of evidence
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Three years of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree
-
Highly organized and demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment
-
Must have excellent writing skills and oral communications capabilities
-
A knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet and hardware system
-
Deliver consistent high-quality wok product in a deadline driven environment under extreme pressure
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of applications and Adobe Acrobat
-
DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required)
Desired:

Automated litigation Support experience

Document review and Relativity experience

eDiscovery experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks similar to the duties and responsibilities described

Pay Range:
This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI's government contract for the work location?
Minimum Req uired Hourly Wage:
$26.81

Job Description
The purpose of this position is to support the Litigation team by completing non-billable tasks within a manner consistent with MGC policies, procedures, quality, standards, client needs and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Handle incoming mail to include opening, scanning and emailing to litigation team members
- Preparation of new file to include: new file sheet, coordinating conflict checks, set up of physical file, and entering case information into ProLaw
- Convert discovery received from opposing parties into Word document for response by attorney/paralegal
- Download documents from CD's, email links, Dropbox, etc. to our case management software as requested
- Prepare reimbursement requests for attorneys as needed
- Prepare outgoing materials for litigation team to include: copying, scanning prepare Certified Mail, UPS, FedEx, etc. as requested
- Process and review incoming invoices and forward to Accounting for payment
- Cooperates with co-workers
- Responds politely to internal staff, clients, vendors, etc.
- Works as a member of a team
- Accepts change in a productive manner
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned
- Ability to type 50+ wpm.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by e-mail and telephone with a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact
- Possess excellent organizational skills and pay close attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to gain competence in database management systems
- Must possess ability to take initiative and handle various tasks simultaneously while working efficiently, effectively and independently under minimal supervision
- Must have ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Is neat with self and conducts self in a respectable, responsible, courteous manner
