Nesco Resource has partnered with a prestigious law firm in Nassau County in their pursuit to hire a Paralegal for their Trusts and Estates practice area. This is a hybrid position working 2 days/week remote and 3 days/week in their Uniondale, NY office. This role works closely with attorneys, clients and accountants, providing support in all aspects of estate planning and administration.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain case organization by creating and managing files, monitoring calendars, tracking deadlines, documenting case activity, and updating information in databases and case management systems; regularly confirm case status with attorneys.
- Accurately capture and record billable time in compliance with firm policies and procedures.
- Assist with and attend Will signings to support attorneys and clients.
- Consistently demonstrate patience, empathy, and professionalism in client and team interactions.
- Foster a collaborative work environment by cooperating effectively with attorneys, legal staff, and administrators.
- 3+ years of Trusts & Estates law firm experience
- Knowledge of wills, trusts, power of attorney forms, estate funding and general management of files
- Knowledge of Surrogate court rules and procedures (probate, administration, accounting proceedings) is required
- Experience in preparing estate tax returns is a plus
- Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel (NetDocs a plus)
- Paralegal certification from an ABA approved program is preferred
