The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is looking for highly motivated students in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related disciplines to assist research economists with policy-oriented and academic research in a paid internship during the summer of 2026. 
 
We are looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds, interests, and perspectives. What You Will Do:  

Responsibilities for interns include literature reviews and writing computer code to analyze time-series and panel data alongside a Research Associate (RA) who mentors them throughout the summer. Interns are invited to give a presentation at the end of their stay on an academic article they studied or the data they helped analyze. 

The intern and RA pool supports multiple economists with their academic research on wide-ranging topics including general equilibrium macroeconomic models, time-series econometrics, labor economics, financial economics, contract theory, public and health economics, industrial organization, and regional economics.

The Logan laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Academic Research Scientist to join their team. The majority of the efforts will be dedicated to investigating the microbial characteristics and genetics of resistance in multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacteria (primarily Enterobacterales) affecting children, healthy populations, animals, and the environment. The goal of this work is to identify community reservoirs of multi-drug resistant Enterobacterales, as infections with these organisms have continued to increase despite aggressive antibiotic stewardship and infection prevention campaigns in healthcare settings.
The Academic Research Scientist functions as a highly skilled contributor/researcher and has significant authorship on publications and advanced knowledge and expertise of laboratory and experimental platforms necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs. Staff Scientists will have leadership responsibilities, and will oversee quality and training of other team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Duties include designing, developing and conducting research experiments.
+ Will have expert knowledge and skills specific to the related program and advanced knowledge of methods of analyzing data from experimental platforms.
+ May assist in grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate, or with approval of the responsible faculty director, may have their own research projects and/or have full responsibilities for specific areas of a program.
+ With approval of the leading Emory faculty member a Scientist may be the principal investigator on grant proposals.

+ Monitors quality control of media, reagents and cleaning procedures and addresses any problems.
+ Keeps abreast of safety procedures and monitors the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required.

Principal staff training duties and responsibilities will include: plating of specimens, isolate, identify, freeze and catalog bacteria from clinical and non-clinical specimens; molecular microbiologic testing by PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing platforms and related methods; preparing overnight cultures, plates, media and buffers; maintaining laboratory with appropriate biohazard discarding and autoclaving of reusable products; filtration of water and other environmental substrates, sampling methods, entering study-related data into computer databases; maintaining and submitting documentation of laboratory work to principal investigator or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ PhD and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab OR master's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab OR bachelor's degree and six years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
+ Laboratory experience should be based on area of assignment.
+ Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Significant work experience is a bacteriology wet lab is strongly preferred and experience in veterinary medicine is preferred.
+ Significant work experience in bacteriology, conventional and real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis and DNA sequence analysis is preferred.
+ Coursework must have included microbiology and molecular laboratory components.
+ The applicant should demonstrate effective team management, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
+ Also valued are excellent organizational skills and attention to detail essential, the ability to multi-task, remaining flexible and managing time effectively, able to perform procedures requiring manual dexterity and repetitive motions, have proficiency with personal computers including Microsoft Office, and demonstrate the ability to perform a variety of specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures.

We seek candidates specializing in Asian Studies, with expertise in one or more of the following areas: history, cultural studies, women and gender studies, media studies, human geography, cultural anthropology, transpacific and global Asia studies. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses at both introductory and advanced levels in the Asian and Pacific Studies Program and help grow the number of majors and minors in Asian and Pacific Studies. A Ph.D. in fields consistent with the position is required by the time of appointment, and the doctoral degree must have been conferred within the last ten years.

Academic Research Scientist in Cancer and Kidney Biology Hong Lab
The Hong Lab ( is seeking a highly-motivated research scientist to join a team of scientists using functional genomics to study the development and consequences of abnormal development in the kidney, identify new biology and therapeutic targets in childhood and young adult kidney/brain cancers. These include Wilms Tumor and cancers involving the SWI/SNF chromatin modifying complex such as Renal Medullary Carcinoma, Rhabdoid Tumor and Atypical Teratoid/ Rhabdoid Tumor.
Our research laboratory is housed within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in the Health Science Research Building. Scientists will have access to resources within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, the Winship Cancer Institute, the Pediatric Research Alliance along with collaborators at Georgia Institute of Technology. Furthermore, fellows are encouraged to observe the clinical aspects of pediatric oncology to understand the impact of our work on our patients.

+ This will be through a mix of giving presentations, meeting with donors, learning how to write grants, identifying independent research projects, writing manuscripts together as well as training recent college graduates along with undergraduate and graduate students.

**Description**
The Associate Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex research duties and has documented scientific achievements and increasing technical, management, leadership, and professional expertise necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Demonstrated knowledge of research and experimental platforms for analyzing, designing, and interpreting results.
+ Investigates and recommends potential alternative approaches to improve the quality of results of basic and/or translational research.
+ Demonstrates increased responsibility through management of teams and leadership of scientific projects by applying advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development, as well as facilitating in some training aspects of other team members.
+ Aids in writing IACUC, IRB, Biosafety, and other approval documents.
+ Oversees quality assurance of research conducted by other team members.
+ May assist in grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate, or with approval of the responsible faculty director, may have their own research projects and/or have full responsibilities for specific areas of instrumentation or methodology development and user support.
+ With the approval of the responsible faculty director, may be principal investigators on funded proposals.
+ Performs other responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ PhD and one year of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
+ Or master's degree and three years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
+ Or bachelor's degree and five years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
+ Laboratory experience should be based on area of assignment.
+ Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.

This position will be tasked with performing molecular modeling and computer aided drug design including docking, QSAR, core replacement, and pharmacophore modeling. Candidate should have experience with the following software: Schrödinger (Maestro, Glide, molecular dynamics), Cresset (Flare, FEP), and GraphPad. Ideal candidate will also have wet lab experience including cloning, mammalian cell culture, and recombinant protein expression and purification.
KEY RESPONSIBIITIES:
+ Responsible for working with experimental platforms specific to the hiring Program.
+ Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and/or translational research.
+ Will be required to review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
