As a UI/UX developer of an Agile team you will be responsible for creating intuitive, user-centered designs and developing responsive, interactive user interfaces that are maintainable, efficient and reliable as part of a dynamic and passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). You will bring creative ideas to solve complex problems, both technical and procedural at the team and portfolio levels. The ability to be adaptable and to work constructively with a technically diverse and geographically separated team will be key to the overall success.

Requirements

  • Experience working collaboratively to communicate effectively through websites and web applications that are easy for real people to use and responsive across all device viewports
  • 5 + years’ experience in UI/UX development
  • Professional experience with enterprise UI design tools such as Figma (preferred), or similar tools
  • Professional experience communicating designs with stakeholders such as product owners, end users, development teams, and management
  • Ability to understand trade-offs between designs, technical feasibility, and maintenance
  • Proficiency in development and maintenance of web applications using React, Angular, JavaScript, browser technologies such as HTML, HTTP and CSS and JavaScript framework such as Kendo UI.
  • Familiarity with Java and associated frameworks such as Spring/Spring boot
  • Familiarity with our tech stack: Java 17, Spring/Spring boot, React, UI state management, ORM such as Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Amazon AWS
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitLab or Bamboo
  • Stay current on important industry and customer trends to ensure our applications are delivering relevant solutions
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders inside the company and with customer groups to drive effective solutions
  • Use data, validation, and feedback strategies that deliver code backed by qualitative and quantities testing
  • Experience with responsive and mobile-first development
  • Willing to take risks and champion new ideas.
  • Have experience developing applications, from consumer facing to internal tools

  • Able to work and be effective in an agile design environment

Job Description

Ekman Associates is a management consulting firm that specializes in developing business, digital, and technology strategy, delivering solutions, and addressing human resource demands.

Summary:

The ideal candidate has deep experience designing UIs for enterprise tools and has worked within a design system, and has a proven ability to understand complex workflows, and translate them into simple, user-friendly UIs. The successful Developer needs to be an effective communicator (written, verbal, and interpersonal), and an active and willing collaborator.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as Primary content developer to create pages from scratch.

• Create custom landing pages from scratch with no CMS template using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, reactJS and mobile compatible.

• Work alongside other UI developers and stakeholders to bridge the gap between design and technical assessment implementations to achieve strategic goals.

• Collaborate with backend programing developers to achieve frontend development needs and goals using SDLC methodology phases to gather and analyze requirements, planning and designing, building, testing, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing systems and features.

• Coordinate, communicate, and work through development projects using methodology processes and workflows while being tracked and updating the tracking through project management systems.

• Development with lightweight JavaScript frameworks.

• Cross-team and cross-department collaboration to organize, strategize, develop, or provide requirements for back-end program development.

• Analyze and assess or create workflow documentation of new and existing processes as they are discovered to improve workflows to continue best practices and standards. This involves updating our documentation archives to share with our team or others outside our team to follow best practice workflows.

• Ability to developing composable code that may be standardized and used globally.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 10+ years related industry experience.

• Strong & Effective communication and presentation skills.

• At least 10+ years of experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, reachJS, jQuery.

• Ability to lead and act as the primary content developer to create pages from scratch.

• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, reachJS and mobile compatible.

• Experience with development with lightweight JavaScript frameworks.

• Ability to analyze and assess or create workflow documentation of new and existing processes as they are discovered to improve workflows to continue best practices and standards.

• Ability to developing composable code that may be standardized and used globally.
