About The Role
The team is seeking an entrepreneurial Mortgage Underwriting Manager on our Platform team . This role involves both strategic oversight and hands-on management of third party fulfillment providers to ensure efficient, compliant loan origination while enhancing systems and workflows for high-quality, scalable operations.
You will be instrumental in shaping the future of their platform, developing underwriting workflows, standard operating procedures, and quality control measures. You will provide tactical guidance to engineering teams, emphasizing scalable human out of the loop solutions.
About You
- Possess expert-level knowledge of the entire mortgage lending process, detailed underwriting knowledge specific to loan requirements and comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and regulatory guidelines related to residential mortgage lending.
- You are a visionary leader with a clear perspective on building scalable, modular origination infrastructure.
- Comfortable operating in highly regulated industry whilst optimizing for performance. You build with a compliance first lens, respect regulations, continuously review, and update processes as needed.

- Oversee day-to-day operations with fulfillment partners, ensuring consistent loan delivery.
- Define and monitor productivity standards and performance goals and ensure that they are met on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Conducting 2nd level reviews, handling exceptions, and managing escalations to ensure quality control.
- Act as a subject matter expert, aiding decision-making and driving product improvement.
- Working closely with internal teams, partners, and engineering to drive product improvements and optimize the fulfillment infrastructure.
- Provide technical and guideline training, recommend areas of improvement, and conduct ongoing training as needed.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of mortgage origination and regulations to ensure compliance.
- 10+ years of experience in underwriting and managing underwriting teams across diverse loan types, including Conventional, Jumbo, NON-QM, GOVT across purchase and refinance.
- Proven track record in developing underwriting workflows, SOPs, SLAs,and QC measures.
- Proficiency in configuring Underwriting Systems for efficiency,quality and compliance.
- Proven track record in managing and leading de-centralized underwriting teams.
- Experience in the management of strategic 3rd party fulfillment partners.
- Experience working on mortgage products within a fintech environment is strongly preferred.

As an **Underwriting Manager** at Premera, you will be a strategic thought leader supporting the financially sound and sustainable growth of the organization. **What you will do:**
Underwriting and Contracting
+ Manage underwriting, pricing, and contracting activities to ensure that rates and policy provisions are adequate to meet the risks assumed and meet the profit objectives of the company.
+ Manage Underwriting processes to meet or exceed turnaround goals and objectives.
+ Create and maintain core competence in Underwriting by hiring, developing, and mentoring a high-performing team.
Management and Reporting
+ Develop and deploy management monitoring reports for tracking financial and membership positions.
+ Monitor and review data from internal departments for content and accuracy and develop solutions for any problems identified.
+ Develop and maintain pricing data and contract generation systems that support departmental and strategic management decisions with timely and accurate information.
Support and Partnership
+ Serve as the primary point of contact within Premera for other departments seeking information and advisement related to Underwriting policies.
+ Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to help win and retain business at rates that are both affordable and reasonable.
+ Meet with internal partners and with the broker community to discuss issues related to healthcare costs and premiums.
**What you will bring:**
+ Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field of study or 4 years of work experience.
+ Five years of underwriting, regulatory, or health insurance consulting experience.
+ Previous underwriting experience.
Additional preferred skills/experiences include:
+ Two years of experience in health insurance management or leadership positions.
+ Master's degree in a related field.

The SVP, Credit Manager is responsible for hands on management of all credit risk aspects of the lending process and the Corporate Asset Finance (CAF) loan portfolio under the general supervision of the Managing Director, CAF. **THE OPPORTUNITY**
The SVP, Credit Manager is responsible for hands on management of all credit risk aspects of the lending process and the Corporate Asset Finance (CAF) loan portfolio under the general supervision of the Managing Director, CAF. Responsible for loan underwriting and credit approval with direct involvement in all credit administration activities including the development and maintenance of loan policies and procedures, and the tracking of loan portfolio trends, concentrations and statistics through a variety of reports and systems. Works directly with unit managers to establish priorities and coordinate workflow. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.
**HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**
+ Works closely with lending staff to provide support, underwriting assistance and credit approval ensuring compliance with credit policy and regulatory guidance.
+ Manages, executes, and enforces the Bank's credit policy.
+ Takes action as needed to ensure adherence to the credit risk profile established by the Board of Directors.
+ Approves all extensions of new credit and renewals and modifications of existing credit within its authority.
+ Works closely with lending staff regarding overdrafts and loan tickler status.
+ Follows on delinquent payments and matured notes with lending staff.
+ Reviews reports to ensure reporting/operating compliance and real estate inspection ticklers are maintained.
+ Shows interpersonal adaptability when dealing with many different personality styles.
+ Assists lending staff with vetting, loan structuring, pricing and approvals.
+ Direct involvement with classified assets, develops plans with management and staff to improve the bank's position, and anticipates deterioration on individual loans by proper risk rating.

+ Strong knowledge of bank related lending regulations.

Responsible for oversight of workflow management for a credit underwriting and loan portfolio management team within an assigned business line and ensuring comprehensive analysis of all new credit requests and servicing actions, as well as adherence to bank credit quality guidelines and other applicable policies.
