Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Production Unit Manger supporting a large specialty polymer client, sitting in Augusta, GA. A typical day would be to come in and see the status of the unit from the night prior during the morning production meeting. They will be responsible for understanding the current progress of the unit, spending time with direct reports (4) and prioritizing the week with them and laying expectations of where they need to be as a unit by the end of the week. Additionally, understanding the status of projects, improvement performance, safety, quality, cost, and personnel matters. They are responsible for the overall performance of the compounding unit and packaging unit.
What is the compounding unit?
They take the base polymer manufactured in other units and are the finishing step before they supply their product to customers. There are 4 twin screw extruders and they feed the base polymer and other additives to the machine, and it extrudes the polymer into little pellets. They then box and package the pellets to send to their customers. From a quality perspective, it's the unit responsible that the end-product is perfect to go to customers.
