Position Summary:
The Staff Therapist, Mental Health Navigator provides psychological services to assist the student body in attaining their educational, interpersonal, and academic goals. Psychological services include case management and care coordination; referral; managing insurance and referral databases; managing external referral relations; individual assessment and counseling; psycho-educational outreach programming and consultation to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families; supervision and training to graduate students in the mental health professions; and engage in maintenance of records.
Specific Job Duties & Tasks:
- Provides case management and referral services to clients.
- Provides care coordination support and bridging care to students with acute and complex mental health care concerns.
- Supervises, evaluates, and assists trainees in various content areas.
- Conducts workshops and outreach services designed to provide mental health education to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families.
- Develops cooperative working relationships with selected UI units including UI Health Care, UI Care Team, Student Health, UI Early Intervention Team (EIT), and Excelling @ Iowa program in Academic Support and Retention.
- Manages active and supportive relationships with external referrals including private practitioners, hospitals, insurance companies, and other critical constituencies as they are relevant.

UCS has an inter-disciplinary staff of psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, graduate interns, practicum students, and administrative professionals. Qualifications
Required Education and Licensure:
Master's degree in Social Work with clinical focus from a CSWE-Accredited program, or Master's degree in Counseling from a CACREP-Accredited Program.
Social Worker: Licensed as an LISW or LMSW in the State of Iowa by date of hire. Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Licensed as an LISW, LMSW or LMHC in the State of Iowa by date of hire. Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a social worker or mental health counselor within 3 yrs. of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Required Qualifications:

- Extensive knowledge of evidence and theory based mental health case management, supportive referrals, crisis assessment, and intervention, and diagnostic and psychosocial assessment.
- Extensive proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services.
- Working knowledge of providing supervision to trainees.
- Extensive proficiency in the application of communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Extensive proficiency in collaborating and interacting with individuals and groups while valuing the unique contribution of individuals.
- Working proficiency with office support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets, electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office and Titanium EHR.
- Working proficiency in empirically validated treatment modalities.
- Working proficiency with serious and complex mental health concerns and with mental health crises.
- Knowledge and experience with infusing technology into the delivery of mental health services.
- Interest and/or experience in counseling center research.
- Knowledge of local mental health providers and systems.
- Experience with campus mental health.

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking full time Clinical Therapists for our Schoolhouse Counseling Center locations. Our locations include the western, southwest, and far south suburbs of Chicago (Plainfield, Monee, Crete). The Clinical Therapist will: Complete initial intake assessments to new clients entering the program and provide preliminary diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Deliver individual, family, and group therapy sessions to children, adolescents and adults in the school-based clinic setting. Develop initial and updated therapy treatment plans to guide the client's clinical treatment with the practice. Develop and maintain a clinical caseload while working alongside administrative staff for scheduling. Maintain and submit appropriate documentation as well as billing submission under the standards of the outpatient services department. Engage in clinical consultation with other members of the treatment team as indicated. Ensure adherence with census requirements of the clinic. Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.
Education: M.A / M.S. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology or MSW.
Experience: One year clinical experience within an inpatient/outpatient/school-based setting; the one year can be a training experience as well. One year experience conducting therapeutic services in Spanish strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification: LPC/LSW or LCPC/LCSW in Illinois preferred.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of Hospital safety policy and procedures. Excellent communications skills. Must possess knowledge of general psychiatric principles, working concepts and theory, age specific growth and development, limit setting, as well as crisis and behavioral management.

This 0.9 FTE Counselor position at University Health & Counseling Services, with a reduced schedule during summer months, focuses on psychoeducation, outreach, assessment, and treatment to support the holistic mental health needs of all students. - Provide individual, couples, and group therapy to support students' mental health and well-being.
- Offer on-call crisis support during business hours for students in acute distress.
- Complete clinical documentation and reports in compliance with clinic policy, accreditation standards, and applicable ethical and legal standards.
- Engage in psychoeducation and outreach initiatives each semester to promote mental health awareness.
- Provide consultation to faculty and staff on student mental health concerns and current issues.

Compensation:
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within the range of $57,000 - $63,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.
