General Purpose: Oversees the policies and enterprise systems for the UR Libraries, including the River Campus Libraries (RCL), and the Sibley Music Library (Eastman School of Music) Represents the UR Libraries in the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), where the UR Libraries play an active role. Has administrative responsibility for all library divisions, including budget and staff oversight, and acts as a principal fundraiser for the libraries as the University launches its next comprehensive capital campaign. Reporting to the Provost, participates as a member of the Dean's Council, the President's Cabinet, and sits on the Executive Committee of the Humanities Center.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Develops and articulates a bold, inclusive vision for the University Libraries that supports the teaching, learning, and research needs of students and faculty.
+ Advances the Libraries' global engagement and innovation in scholarly communication, digital scholarship, and open access.
+ Partners with senior University leadership on academic planning, institutional priorities, and the libraries' role in campus-wide initiatives.
+ Leads and overseas operations across all divisions, including the River Campus Libraries, and Sibley Music Library.
+ Develops and manages a consolidated annual budget of approximately 24 million and provides financial stewardship, resource allocation, and long-term planning. Ensures spending is within budget.
+ Directly manages and supports a large team across diverse library functions and units, providing mentorship, setting priorities, and overseeing workflow to ensure high-quality results.
+ Approves hiring decisions, provides training and ongoing supervision, addresses personnel issues and actions, and conducts performance reviews.
+ Serves as the principal fundraiser for the libraries, cultivating donor relationships and securing philanthropic support in alignment with the University's capital campaign.
+ Builds and sustains partnerships with alumni, donors, external organizations, and community stakeholders to elevate the visibility and impact of the libraries.
+ Develops, implements, and oversees policies, enterprise systems, and technologies that support library operations and digital initiatives.
+ Ensures the Libraries remain adaptive and responsive to emerging trends in library science, data management, and user experience.
+ Represents the University of Rochester Libraries in national and international forums, including the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).
+ Engages actively in professional associations and networks to shape the future of academic librarianship and scholarly communication.

Join the team of the Open Science & Data Collaborations program at Carnegie Mellon University Libraries to help foster a more open, reproducible, and collaborative research landscape.
The Postdoctoral Associate in Open Science should be technically-skilled, have a strong understanding of academic research and the research data ecosystem, be passionate about building an open and collaborative research community, and committed to developing a research and teaching agenda on topics related to open science. This is a fixed term 2-year position with 50% of time devoted to research and 50% to teaching, community-building activities, and providing research services.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Open Science Program, the successful candidate will:
+ Conduct collaborative research on open science topics, such as developing open science assessment metrics, developing tools and methods that help to enhance research transparency and reproducibility, understanding open science and data reuse needs and practices in different research communities;
+ Teach lessons and workshops such as data processing and analysis using R or Python, tools and best practices for data management, computational best practices for open and reproducible research. Develop teaching materials that include interactive activities and hands-on examples;
+ Serve on organizing and programming committees of open science events hosted by the program, including the annual Open Science Symposium ( ;
+ Serve as a consultant for our data and coding consultation service ( ;

This position works in the Shelving and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) units with the Public Services department of the UW Libraries. These units are located in Coe Library, the main library on campus, and are comprised of a mix of full-time staff and student employees.
Shelving/ILL hours of operation are 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
- Shelve materials and perform stacks maintenance at Coe Library. Assist with lending in the Interlibrary Loan department.
- Ideal candidates will be available to work through academic year '25-'26 with a work study award.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform Shelving duties:
- Sort and shelve library materials, pick up materials used in the library, and maintain the appearance of the shelving stacks.
- Shift the location of materials as needed.
- Participate in inventorying the library collection. Provide directional and location information to library customers.
- Retrieve materials for interlibrary loan.
- Scan and electronically deliver materials.
- Perform other tasks as determined by manager.

Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or a related field. One (1) year full-time experience conducting bench research skills including mouse colony maintenance, PCR genotyping, mouse husbandry and/or experience with mouse genetics. Experience with cell culture and primary oraganotypic airway cultures. Experience with digital Data record keeping.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Bioinformatics or a related field. Research Laboratory experience in histology and molecular biology techniques. Experience with IACUC and institutional protocols. Experience with transcriptomic bioinformatics analysis (Seurat, Scenic algorithms on 10x Genomics databases). Experience with teaching and/or mentoring and/or training students and staff on mouse model handling, routine husbandry and set up breeding.
**Brief Description of Duties:**
The Research Support Specialist will assist the Principal Investigator and other laboratory personnel, including undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs and senior research scientists to lead advancements of research focused on 2 themes: i) investigating the role of mutations in the p53 tumor suppressor gene in cancer; and ii) investigating the transcriptional control of motile multicillogenesis in airways and other tissues. Our main tools are genetically engineered mouse models, complemented by a broad range of molecular, cell biological and bioinformatics methods. The candidate must be willing to take directions, work both independently and in a team of several experts across fields. The Candidate must have strong organizational skills and interest in mentoring students in a research lab environment. The applicant must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
**Duties:**
+ Manage a multi-line mouse colony (includes breeding, culling and genotyping animals and maintaining a census database.
+ Histology and immunohistochemistry preparations, tissue culture, microscopy.
+ Bioinformatics analysis.
+ Provide technical support for the lab members, including assistance in mouse dissections.
+ Prepare general reagents in the lab
+ Maintain study protocol documents and ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Safety policies.
+ Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
