Do you enjoy crafting and implementing innovative culinary solutions to customers? We are currently seeking an Executive Chef III at the University of Pittsburgh. You will be a lead culinarian within our dining programs. As a key leader in our dining programs, you'll spearhead menu development and preparation, infusing creativity and precision into every dish. Key Responsibilities
+ Plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines, follow standardized recipes, portioning and presentation standards.
+ Complete and apply daily production worksheets and waste log sheets.
+ Supervise and train chefs, cooks and other team members on food preparation/ presentation, safe food handling, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation.
+ Ensure the implementation of culinary standards, including recipe compliance and food quality.
+ Manage inventory of food and non-food supplies, maintaining compliance with established guidelines while ensuring necessary products are available when needed.
+ Follow federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department procedures, as evidenced through audits conducted by local health departments and third-party entities.
+ Aid in the forecasting of food and labor costs and monitor actual financial results.
+ Foster strong client relationships to align our programs with their objectives, driving satisfaction and retention.
+ Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of dining service operations.
Preferred Qualifications
+ A.S. degree or equivalent experience.
+ Three or more years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
+ Experience in high-volume, hands-on foodservice operations.
+ Must be experienced with computers.
+ ServSafe® Certified.

We are seeking a Food and Beverage finance professional who is familiar with STATISTICAL methods, including; risk modeling, regression analysis, and predictive modeling. Do you enjoy using probability, regression, hypothesis testing, and other statistical tools? Are you familiar with analyzing historical financial data to predict future outcomes?
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all cash handling procedures
- Perform reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts
- Analyze financial results for both internal and external use
- Track and maintain monthly P/L and balance sheet activity
- Develop forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities
- Review of general ledger and balance sheet
- Resolving various accounting/reconciliation issues
- Financial reports: monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including but not limited to monthly and fiscal close, internal and external audit reporting, report preparation and distribution
- Maintain inventory and cost control procedures
- Review food service contract for financial adherence and billing functions
- Payroll and Human Resources administration

General Description:
In this role, you will work closely with the Chartwells Campus Dietitian to plan, execute, and promote the dining services at The University of Pittsburgh. You will gain valuable experience in the following areas: food service management, nutrition education and outreach, and marketing and communications. You will serve as an extension of the Campus Dietitian, working with both dining and campus partners, to promote awareness of available on-campus dining offerings and wellness resources with the goal of creating a more informed, engaged, and inclusive campus dining community.
This internship should not be confused in any way with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics pre-professional internship requirement. This internship does not replace an accredited internship program. However, this internship does involve hands-on, paid experience in a collegiate food service operation with a focus on community nutrition and health promotion.
Job Requirements:
- Applicant should be at least at sophomore-level credit hour standing
- Applicant should be enrolled in a nutrition, dietetics, or related field
- Applicant should have no less than a 3.00 GPA
- Applicant should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Applicant should possess customer service experience and knowledge
Job Responsibilities - May include any or all the following:
Food Service Management
- Conduct research for menu and recipe development
- Perform quality assurance audits and aid in executing operational standards
- Conduct food allergy station and signage audits within dining operations to ensure adherence to local and federal guidelines
- Aid in the development of standard operating procedures
Nutrition Education and Outreach
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of health education events, including but not limited to lectures, food samplings, recipe demonstrations, and health fairs
- Aid unit chefs in the planning and execution of monthly Teaching Kitchens
- Conduct evidence-based research on various foods and cuisines
- Plan and execute staff training, as well as create corresponding training related educational materials (PowerPoint presentations, handouts, etc.)
Marketing and Communications
- Collaborate with marketing and operations teams on planning and executing special events in the dining operations
- Gather, compile, and synthesize information to develop innovative and effective health promotion communications for the campus community, including website content, student newsletters, dining blog, social media, and printed materials, for a diverse group of students.
Other
- Complete relevant food safety, food allergy, and celiac disease related trainings
- Attend meetings or other events, as required
- Administrative and other duties, as assigned

**Department Details:** With more than 10 physician-scientists and research investigators, the University of Pittsburgh Division of Classical Hematology is one of the largest classical hematology programs in the U.S. Areas of excellence include hemophilia and bleeding disorders, who's clinical and research activities are housed in the state-of-the-art Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania (HCWP). Another area of excellence is sickle-cell disease. The Sickle Cell Center of Excellence includes the UPMC Adult Sickle Cell Program, one of the largest in the country, and staffed by two dedicated faculty members, 3 APPs and other health care professionals. It also includes numerous scientists conducting basic and translational science research in sickle cell disease within the Vascular Medicine Institute (VMI) and elsewhere at the University of Pittsburgh. Additional areas of strength include transfusion medicine, inherited, and acquired platelet disorders, and rare hematological diseases.
