**Job Summary**
Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a self-motivated individual for the role of **Financial Analyst** at **Carnegie Mellon University** in **Pittsburgh, PA** . In this role, you will advise on the day-to-day operations and financial success of the foodservice locations on the campus. As the lead finance associate at the account, you will ensure the accurate management and reporting of the location's finances while working with the location leadership team to develop action plans to continually drive financial performance. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Finance and Accounting and how these relate to internal controls and financial results.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for all cash handling procedures
+ Perform reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts
+ Analyze financial results for both internal and external use
+ Track and maintain monthly P/L and balance sheet activity
+ Develop forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities
+ Review of general ledger and balance sheet
+ Resolving various accounting/reconciliation issues
+ Financial reports: monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including but not limited to monthly and fiscal close, internal and external audit reporting, report preparation and distribution
+ Maintain inventory and cost control procedures
+ Review food service contract for financial adherence and billing functions
+ Payroll and Human Resources administration
+ Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent professional experience
+ 2+ years experience with revenue control, financial reporting, trend analysis, and cash handling responsibilities
+ Accounting experience in foodservice or retail industry required, foodservice operations experience a plus
+ Experience with sales analysis and reporting
+ Adept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes as well as analyzing moderately complex financial information
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships
+ Strong experience in internal controls
+ Expertise in Microsoft Office with a concentration in Excel
+ Point of Sales experience a plus

Working as the Unit Controller, you will oversee all the accounting and control functions of the accounts within a particular within our large food service operations at the University of Pittsburgh. This includes all revenue and expense reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly financial reporting requirements.

**General Description:**
In this role, you will work closely with the Chartwells Campus Dietitian to plan, execute, and promote the dining services at The University of Pittsburgh. You will gain valuable experience in the following areas: food service management, nutrition education and outreach, and marketing and communications. You will serve as an extension of the Campus Dietitian, working with both dining and campus partners, to promote awareness of available on-campus dining offerings and wellness resources with the goal of creating a more informed, engaged, and inclusive campus dining community.
This internship should not be confused in any way with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics pre-professional internship requirement. This internship does not replace an accredited internship program. However, this internship does involve hands-on, paid experience in a collegiate food service operation with a focus on community nutrition and health promotion.
**Job Requirements:**
- Applicant should be at least at sophomore-level credit hour standing
- Applicant should be enrolled in a nutrition, dietetics, or related field
- Applicant should have no less than a 3.00 GPA
- Applicant should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Applicant should possess customer service experience and knowledge
**Job Responsibilities - May include any or all the following:**
_Food Service Management_
- Conduct research for menu and recipe development
- Perform quality assurance audits and aid in executing operational standards
- Conduct food allergy station and signage audits within dining operations to ensure adherence to local and federal guidelines
- Aid in the development of standard operating procedures
_Nutrition Education and Outreach_
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of health education events, including but not limited to lectures, food samplings, recipe demonstrations, and health fairs
- Aid unit chefs in the planning and execution of monthly Teaching Kitchens
- Conduct evidence-based research on various foods and cuisines
- Plan and execute staff training, as well as create corresponding training related educational materials (PowerPoint presentations, handouts, etc.)
_Marketing and Communications_
- Collaborate with marketing and operations teams on planning and executing special events in the dining operations
- Gather, compile, and synthesize information to develop innovative and effective health promotion communications for the campus community, including website content, student newsletters, dining blog, social media, and printed materials, for a diverse group of students.
_Other_
- Complete relevant food safety, food allergy, and celiac disease related trainings
- Attend meetings or other events, as required
- Administrative and other duties, as assigned
