Responsibilities
- Serve as Point of Contact to Client and Consultants
- Lead the project team as the Client’s On-site Representative for all project matters
- Provide regular evaluation of project schedule and budget, identifying any deviations from plan and offering proposed solutions needed to meet project goals
- Provide QA/QC oversight for internal project team
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of successful construction project management experience with emphasis on major healthcare projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Recognized ability to lead and motivate both internal and project teams
- Strong communication skills at multiple project levels ranging from tradespeople to facility executives
- Demonstrated project success in meeting project budgets and schedules

The Robert Dick Laboratory is seeking an Academic Research Scientist to join our team in studying the fundamental biology and inhibitor interactions of retroviruses and other viral families from a structural perspective. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, conducting, and analyzing wet lab experiments, including biochemical assays, tissue culture work, and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) sample preparation. A central aspect of the role involves processing cryo-EM data to determine viral lattice structures and contribute to structural insights that inform antiviral strategies.
The Academic Research Scientist functions as a highly skilled contributor/researcher and has significant authorship on publications and advanced knowledge and expertise of laboratory and experimental platforms necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs. Staff Scientists will have leadership responsibilities, and will oversee quality and training of other team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Duties include designing, developing and conducting research experiments.
+ Will have expert knowledge and skills specific to the related program and advanced knowledge of methods of analyzing data from experimental platforms.
+ May assist in grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate, or with approval of the responsible faculty director, may have their own research projects and/or have full responsibilities for specific areas of a program.
+ With approval of the leading Emory faculty member a Scientist may be the principal investigator on grant proposals.

+ Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, virology, or a related field.
+ The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in cryo-EM structure determination within the context of retrovirology, along with substantial hands-on laboratory experience and a proven ability to design and manage complex experiments.
+ Strong scientific writing, analytical thinking, and communication skills are essential.
+ The candidate should also exhibit a clear interest in grant writing and securing external funding and should be familiar with submission processes for major agencies such as the NIH and NSF.

Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.
KEY RESPONSIBIITIES:
+ Responsible for working with experimental platforms specific to the hiring Program.
+ Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and/or translational research.
+ Will be required to review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
+ May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate.
+ Performs other responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ PhD
+ OR Master's degree and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab .
+ OR Bachelor's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
+ Laboratory experience should be related to area of assignment.
+ Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice toemployee.

**Description**
The successful applicant must be familiar with molecular biology, design of DNA constructs, purification and manipulation of DNA, electrophysiological recording using two electrode voltage clamp, structure and function of ion channels, drug development and off target assays, behavioral pharmacology, drug formulation. Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
+ The Senior Academic Research Scientist is recognized as an authority in the scientific field both inside and outside of Emory University and requires significant achievements in leadership and recognition in support of Emory research or translational science or original scientific research together with a demonstrated ability to manage major components of the Emory scientific mission.
+ Duties will include designing, developing, and conducting laboratory or translational research experiments, as well as overseeing and managing all technical aspects of the laboratory.
+ The Sr. Academic Research Scientist will monitor quality control and recommend new processes or equipment to help improve laboratory operations.
+ The Senior Academic Research Scientist will be expected to assist in grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate, and will be expected to have significant authorship on publications.
+ May have supervisory responsibilities.
+ Performs other responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ PhD and 10 years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab
+ OR master's degree and 12 years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab
+ OR bachelor's degree and 15 years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.

+ Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.
PREFFERED QUALICATIONS:
+ Experience with electrophysiology, experience with drug development, experience working in industry, experience running behavioral studies.
