Purpose: The CRNA provides anesthetic care for all patients in cooperation with the supervising physician, following Department of Anesthesiology standards and hospital policies. They administer anesthesia, monitor patients' reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents, and inform the anesthesiologist of any adverse conditions that may threaten patient safety.
Responsibilities:
+ Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre-anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support.
+ Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines
+ Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs.
+ Performs according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site with operating room staff and surgeon in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards
+ Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) process through documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and implementation.
Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program required. Knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and State laws required. Master's degree preferred. This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required. Board Certified, Recertified or eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. AHA-approved ACLS/PALS certifications as required by institution of employ upon hire. Act 33, 34, and 73 clearances required.

Patient Care Technician - Senior
The Patient Care Technician - Senior (PCT-Sr) provides routine patient care and supports the department services in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the nurse or physician to assure that the highest degree of quality patient care can be maintained at all times. The PCT-Sr performs a variety of patient care duties including assisting with patient procedures and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients. In addition, the PCT-Sr is responsible for completing medical record documentation in accordance with established procedures & ensuring equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate departments. This role contributes to the universal unit activities such as responding to call lights, telephones, passing meal trays, and adhering to all safety policies/procedures relative to patient care and hospital related information.
Establishing professional relationships and utilizing effective communication with patients, their families, colleagues, and other departments is vital for this role. The PCT-Sr also provides feedback to the RN regarding patient care, reports changes in patient status, and provides instruction to patients and their families under the direction of the RN.
